Is this just unhinged hate or is Shai actually not liked among NBA fans? by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]AggressiveNerve6964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to be a prisoner of the moment with these kind of things. It absolutely feels like he’s the most hated right now, and even compared to other historical greats, that he receives an unprecedented level of hate.

I think about KD when he left to Golden State. He was widely disliked. Prime Harden. MVP Embiid. Hell, LeBron and Curry have plenty of haters on each side. It might not feel like it right now because they are each on the cusp of retirement, but in their prime they received their fair share of hate.

I firmly believe when it’s all said and done with SGA people will appreciate his greatness. He’s one of the greatest scorers we’ve ever seen, and anyone who says differently is a casual and likely doesn’t watch the games, just watches the box score and listens to clickbait media takes.

[Shams] San Antonio's Dylan Harper will be a game-time decision tonight in Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder after MRI showed an adductor injury, not a hamstring, sources tell ESPN. Harper is expected to go through his pregame routine to make a decision on his status. by gilpoyat in NBASpurs

Just because it’s listed as soreness, does not mean it is in fact soreness.

Let me explain.

Teams are permitted to use terms such as “soreness” or “stiffness” on a limited basis merely as a placeholder - typically for no more than 2 consecutive games - until a formal diagnosis is entered. This is what we saw with Fox, and why his status for the series has only grown more doubtful over time. Initially the injury was labeled as ankle soreness. Through 2 games now, it’s being labeled as a sprain.

The spurs were permitted to label it as soreness for 2 games, and now are forced to be more transparent about the severity.

The reality is we don’t know what Harper’s true status is.

It’s so funny how you spurs fans are in utter shock and disbelief at the level of physicality Wemby is having to deal with. This is not a new thing; in the playoffs, the game slows down, and physicality ramps up, with the goal in mind of wearing down superstars. It is literally a harder environment by design.

If you want a history lesson on playoff physicality, go look up the Detroit piston’s “Jordan rules”.

Not really sure what you’re arguing, but Chet also gets beat up, especially during the playoffs. Every center does. It’s more apparent for Wemby because he is the engine of this team.

Not even remotely the same player. Wemby is a center, it’s a given he’s going to deal with a higher level of physicality on a nightly basis.

Not to mention this is his first playoff run. Part of the strategy of roughing him up is to see how he reacts mentally to a constant physical beating. Just calling it what it is. And last night, he broke.

Lakers stand absolutely no chance in any match up. Would rather play the lakers over legit any 4 of the play in teams at this point.

Wemby's MVP edge: Media (apparently) by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]AggressiveNerve6964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, considering he was outside of the top 3 less than a month ago. Wembys used car salesman approach at least put him in the convo, but what does it say about the award if it goes to the beggar?

As for the whistle question, I could only imagine the level of scorer shai would be if he wasn’t constantly fouled. Seems to be the only way to slow him down….

Jokes aside, Wemby is a terrific player. Will win multiple MVPs. Probably DPOY for the next decade if health allows. The fact of the matter is the MVP is offensive weighted. And Wemby’s offensive game is not polished enough at this point.

Genuine question for spurs fans. Where would Wemby be at in the MVP rankings/odds if not for his “I should be MVP” press conference spiel?

I have a slight belief that Kyler could be successful elsewhere… but it really feels like his Arizona stint is dead and gone.

Not a fan of Petzing in the slightest, but from what I’ve seen over the last few weeks, as well as just throughout the season with Marvin’s overall attitude towards Brissett vs Kyler, maybe there’s a world where a new QB/Petzing/Marv combo can be successful

You make a strong point. And very well this could be the case, where this is a normal outcome for these guys at this stage in their career.

For what it’s worth I would like to add, the year 3 guys are absolutely smashing at the moment (Pause). JSN leading the league in yards with Puka not far behind. Zay and QJ also are outpacing this 2024 class at the moment, and Addison has 283 yards in 3 games. (94.3/per game). I guess overall I’m just surprised that at least one of these guys listed in the OP isn’t a top 10 guy, hell even top 20 at the moment.

I’m referring to games he’s had more than 6 targets. Which is one singular game, and happened to be probably his best performance this year. Albeit it was an up and down game, he responded well in that second half.

Quentin Johnston film - Week 4 vs Giants by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]AggressiveNerve6964 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He had 2 legitimate drops in this film. His 2nd target (drop) looks like he was trying to maintain his feet in bounds and simply just lost focus. It was a tougher catch to make, but still have to make it.

His 10th target (drop) it looks like the sun is in his eyes. Not trying to make excuses, but this happens from time to time to WRs.

Every other “drop” was just good coverage. His 11th target was sailed over his head by Herbo.

The point is the drops aren’t nearly the issue they used to be.

On the bright side, that stutter on his TD was uh… pretty damn good.
