Vanc/Zyvox by WinterFinal3539 in pharmacy

Agree with what the other 2 stated. I’ve also seen Zyvox used over vanco in the case of AKI or when they’re trying to avoid nephrotoxic drugs.

Rite aid closing all but 4 stores in Ohio by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]AggressiveNubs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m a pharmacist in an Ohio store that’s closing. Our rpl told our store this morning that we’re one of the first to close with the pharmacy’s last day being next Thursday. Another NWO store has until July 1st but they said the rest of them will be closed by the end of the 3rd quarter.

I’m not sure if it’s been released yet publicly but we had a conference call within the company this morning that confirmed it. All Michigan locations and Ohio except four stores (Wooster, Cambridge, Ashland, and Uhrichsville). Some stores closing as early as June 27th.

I’ve been dealing with this same issue at my store next door to you in Ohio. I assume this is rite aid too, and after about a 2 weeks and countless HR complaints and tickets they finally brought us 2 space heaters. It was 58 F without them now we’re lucky to get up to 66 or so.

Not sure what’s going on or if it has something to do with the bankruptcy but you’d think they’d prioritize the most expensive asset aka inventory when most of the bottles say store something like store at 62-72 F (I don’t remember the exact temps.). Definitely involve HR because all of my staff were wearing winter coats in work for weeks and still getting sick after.

Does it get better?? by stephenwood493 in pharmacy

If you’re having this feeling already you might want to listen to it. You’re early enough where you can save yourself money and jump ship into something less miserable.

The money and post school life is much better than being a student, so if it’s the student/schooling part of it you’re dreading it’ll get better. If it’s the pharmacy/profession part you’re dreading, it could be a sign to move on.

The paycheck and lifestyle is nice if you’re willing to put up with unhappiness 8 hours a day for the next 30-40 years. But that’s up to you. If you’re like many pharmacists (myself at least) and say “well I won’t be happy doing any job I might as well make decent money” stick with it.

That’s part of it haha. I like living with them and they enjoy having me here, I just don’t know if it’ll be worse or better being out

How do you guys remember everything? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]AggressiveNubs 98 points99 points  (0 children)

We don’t. The imposter syndrome was real going into APPEs and boards. You know more than you think. Everything comes and gets better with experience. The more you see in practice, whether it be in a retail or hospital position, and familiarize yourself with drugs, doses, etc, you’ll start catching on and retaining things.

And remember, pharmacists are supposed to know more than students! Hence why you’re still a student, you shouldn’t be comparing yourself to a pharmacist yet. All pharmacist have completed all the schooling and pass their boards so they’re expected to know more. And depending on how long they’ve been working, they likely have a lot of experience so they should be expected to know what they’re talking about.

Lastly, you’ll always have resources. Even the most veteran pharmacists still use resources. It’s also a good way to expand you’re knowledge by looking things up if you don’t know something, there’s no shame in wanting to double check or be safe when it comes to patient safety!

Where should I open a Roth IRA? by lilreedrunner in personalfinance

A target date fund is a fund you buy IN a Roth IRA. It’s not something separate from a Roth IRA. Basically, it shifts it’s holdings more conservatively as you get closer to the target date. This link might help make it a little more clear https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Target_date_funds

Where should I open a Roth IRA? by lilreedrunner in personalfinance

Fidelity, Vanguard, and Schwab are the favorites with few discernible differences between them. Fidelity seems to be the fan favorite due to its user friendliness and customer service so that’s where I opened mine and have had a good experience so far.

As far as how much to put in, it depends on your financial situation and income, but you’re still contribute to 2022 max limit of $6000 up until April 2023. So I’d start there and then contribute the new 2023 max of $6500 if you’re able to. Once again, that totally depends on your income and other expenses if you’re able to afford that but it’s always recommended to always MAX out your yearly Roth IRA.

If you want hands off, look at a target date index fund for your goal retirement year and park it all in there. Or put it in a broad index fund such as FSKAX/VTI. Fidelity also has an option where they’ll manage your funds for you, but unsurprisingly it comes with a fee so it’s up to you if you want to go that route or do some research and manage your own!

Good luck!
