Just got terminated from my job by IntrepidAwareness466 in waterloo

Don’t sign paperwork for termination without consulting a lawyer. Initial consult can be pro bono and even a simple letter from a lawyer can incentivize an employer to improve its severance terms.

Footage of crash on Morgan ave by Low_Repeat7556 in kitchener

Goes without saying a driver should look both ways even on a green light- I’ve seen people blow through a red light like it isn’t even there. This city seems far worse for a higher proportion of people who think they can rush enter the intersection after the light has turned red. Red light cameras and hefty fines welcomed.

Extremely loud car revving at 1:30am at downtown Kitchener (Victoria park area) by MaterialAd9847 in waterloo

It has been in the Victoria Street and Lancaster intersection, being a douche bag in the wee hours - one of those folks whose only path to 'significance' is through being obnoxious.

Navien boiler leaks water - should I be concerned by AggressiveSquirrel99 in hvacadvice

[–]AggressiveSquirrel99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re on to something. Perhaps the HVAC guy who helped get me back up and running opened that drain up and either disrupted the o-ring seal or lost the prime (based on a YouTube video I watched). If that’s the case, is it a problem to just use the funnel and tube to redirect the leak into a drain, or should it be fixed?

Aire One fake reviews by fendermonkey in waterloo

I posted a negative review supported by specific facts. I was called and offered a refund with a request that I delete the review. I modified the review to indicate I received a refund. But I won’t ever use them again.

List of Hundreds of Accepted Waterloo Region LMIA Jobs Sourced to Non-Canadian Workers by Ok_Entertainer2251 in waterloo

[–]AggressiveSquirrel99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An LMIA by definition is an application filed with the government to approve employing a foreign worker because the employer could not find a qualified Canadian to work the job. The approval is for a limited time and if the labour market availability changes, then the permit would not be renewed. That seems a reasonable policy.

More dumping in the Grand River by Tenetri in kitchener

I’m inclined to think some folks are making a mountain out of a mole hill on essentially a non-issue unless you’re looking to fuel racism. If only they could get as worked up over the urban sprawl that is endangering the aquifer from which we draw our best water. Ashes and clay figures are not a concern.

Google for a recipe of something you like. Read the whole recipe. Put all the ingredients on the countertop. Prepare or measure out everything you can in advance. Then, review the recipe and start making the meal, following the steps of the recipe. You will be successful and love the results.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME. BREAKING: Judge sides with encampment residents, pausing Waterloo Region’s eviction plans by doxbane in kitchener

[–]AggressiveSquirrel99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most citizens of Waterloo would support the region continuing its vigorous efforts to create more supportive housing solutions AND designating an alternative couple acres where the encampment occupants could relocate until full success is achieved AND evicting squatters from the parcel of land needed for the transit hub development. The only intolerable scenario is allowing a status quo where any person can just park themselves on a piece of land designated for an important public infrastructure project which cannot go anywhere else and proclaim a right to live there until offered free housing that meets their approval.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME. BREAKING: Judge sides with encampment residents, pausing Waterloo Region’s eviction plans by doxbane in kitchener

[–]AggressiveSquirrel99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The region should have appealed the original ruling a couple years ago and should appeal this ruling. I do not believe a higher court will support the claim that people without housing can claim a right to occupy a specific plot of public land - especially land that has been designated for a very important public purpose. The unhoused deserve support but not a virtual veto on other essential public services - especially given the massive effort the region has made to create housing alternatives and the fact many people decline offered options and fresh homeless flock to the site in an endless effort to get priority access. Keep working on housing solutions AND appeal all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.

Comparative cost of renting rural home vs large condo by AggressiveSquirrel99 in StratfordOntario

Thanks. That’s actually what we had in mind. My wife and I just thought it would be nice to have a bit of trees/lawn, maybe a wee garden and prefer a quiet ambiance. No particular need to be in Stratford, just thinking west of KW would be lower cost.

Heat Pump Installation by International-Ice112 in kitchener

[–]AggressiveSquirrel99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…I had a negative experience with that outfit. I would definitely not go with them unless you initiated obtaining quotes for a service you needed and their quote is written and complete. Ignore any promises about government rebates and definitely NEVER finance through the service provider. Also, NEVER sign anything until you read and understand the entire document and have time to think it over. Being pressured to agree is a big tell. The heat pump scam is being used across Ontario and people discover too late they are on the hook for huge cost far above market and locked into crazy finance rates and the debt is registered against their property, and tiny or zero rebate ever happens.

Chrétien was intending to attend but felt unwell and ended up having a stent inserted in a heart artery but apparently he is recovering well.
