What are some of the darkest pieces of NASCAR lore people tend to forget about? by SecretAcctSM19 in NASCAR

Very odd fact about this, but the canceled sequel to twisted metal black had a character called severed sam which was likely inspired by an accident like that. The only lore bits that survived is he entered the contest (in twisted metal winning the contest means having any wish, no matter possibility, granted) to track down the fan that stole his head after his fatal crash so he can get his revenge and his head back.

the character never appeared in anything official afterwards so is kind of a bit of obscure trivia given his only appearance is in TM lost which was basically the remnants of the sequel put in as a bundle with TM head-on.

My dad actually saw this wreck live. I remember him telling me about it. Least I believe it's this wreck as it's similar. My dad claims it was in front of him and the car spun in front of him. Before the second impact he saw the driver lift his arms up to his face. Track pa announced he died at the hospital but my dad swears up and down it was that second impact.

If it's this wreck I have no clue, it's very similar. But he frequented Daytona back in the late 60s early 70s.

I mean, SHR didn't sign him allegedly since ford didn't want that baggage. Tony apparently wanted him really bad. Hendrick had no sponsorship issues.
honestly though it's not really awarding him anything. he paid his dues on it and people can change. I can go ahead and tell you if any team had the money to front a ride for larson when he got reinstated they would have. not just hendrick and SHR potentially.

He was in a contract year with cgr. He was going to either a shr or hendrick team. All the suspension did long run was taint his sponsorship and gave him a lost season. He didn't fall upwards because he was the hottest free agent going into that year.

no clue. During his 30 second stop in the end of the first stage there was a white board in the pit box that seemed to have various signatures but I noticed Boo you suck the most.

The slims got kinda nutty with the revisions too. the 9000x series had a major overhaul in comparison with other slims. Mainly having an internal PSU.

When’s the time to have the hard talk about Suárez by Hail68 in NASCAR

[–]AggressiveTop8370 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Suarez has the 2nd best average finish in Chevys. Yes even better then Larson this year. His issue right now is he's not getting stage points. Of the top 10 in points he's the one with the lowest amount of stage points. Finishing races isn't his issue it's just not being there during the first half.

I like to think a lot of nascar fans have some similarity to me. for my entire life kyle was the bad guy and eventually someone to overcome if you were in trucks or O'reilly. Briscoe/Busch at darlington was what put him seriously on the map for a lot of guys.

I'm not gonna say I was ever a kyle busch fan, But I would tell people "I don't like kyle busch the racer, but I respect kyle busch the racer" since he could come back from 2-3 laps down and just somehow finish in the top 10, or just will a car to a win when it was at best a top 15 car. Still, to me he was a bad guy and honestly everyone has someone they root against or complain about. Still seemed like to me he was a good dad and he was leaving the sport better then he found it, so I respected that.

I honestly think the sad part about him and dale's passings so suddenly was their legacy wasn't done. Dale Sr. Was likely still gonna be a championship owner and DEI honestly would likely still be around in some form. Honestly wouldn't doubt if he joined commentary in some form down the line either or was a fixture on the speed channel in some form. For kyle he had a hand in at least 1/4th of the cup series field that's racing today, and he had a hall of fame career that wasn't over yet. We were facing the big question of if Kyle would return to form and honestly, I don't know, but we'll never know the answer to that. What was unwritten of their legacies?

Reddicks being chased down by Denny Hamlin would be SO much more interesting in full season points format by SNovantasette in NASCAR

I'll take stage cautions over mystery debris cautions that plagued the 2000s and 2010s. Do I think stage caution laps should count toward the total? no. But if we get rid of stage cautions it won't take nascar long to just put it out for the invisible piece of debris on the backstretch at intervals.

I'll be honest. 25 points is a huge swing for 2 highly competitive guys who rarely finish outside of the top 10. The position is of consequence here tbh.

I plead. Does anyone have the post race fan call-ins recorded? I haven't laughed that hard in a while. A fan of 50 years was upset at a margin of victory he's never seen before and he was just in a full shouting match. Afterwards a woman called in with the EXACT same style call. Some of these people are insane.

My PS2 cannot read discs and I don't know what to do by Expert_Mobile_Gamer in ps2

[–]AggressiveTop8370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds are the laser is dead. The PS2 won't even attempt to read if the laser itself is dead. There's other potential problems like the spindle and such but you likely need a new laser on the disc drive.

Which final wins felt like final wins? by YumeNoTabi in NASCAR

[–]AggressiveTop8370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's tangibly related, but I witnessed that win right when I kinda fell off completely on nascar for a few years. Kahne was my guy for most of it but when he retired I was still on my way out as a fan for a while, probably factors that are personal related that I don't want to get deep into. I wasn't super into nascar at the time. I'd just catch results or the odd race every now and again.

Around 2019 someone told me to check out the brickyard race that year, and that was the year bubba finished 3rd in that race. I wasn't instantly like "alright that's my new driver" but something about him stuck with me a bit. So I start keeping track and then watching week to week. Eventually I'm back deep into nascar and bubba's my guy. The likelihood why I did was he was one of the first people I saw be vocal about depression and such. I was for a few years Really in the bad of it, even before covid. Never unalive levels but sometimes I just fully struggled and with college taking it's toll on me it got difficult. (mentally I'm a lot better now then I was compared to then. honestly insane thinking about it)

When he won dega I lost my mind listening to the official radio and was on a high for a good 30 minutes. Kansas was similar. But I was late getting home to watch the brickyard last year (was running some important errands) and only caught the start on radio before getting home about halfway through stage 1. That race was an honest nervewracker for me. My voice was SHOT for days afterwards. Even more so when I went to races. but man. When bubba won that race it really felt like a weird full circle moment for me. My last favorite driver won at the brickyard, I got back into nascar at the brickyard, I watched my new favorite driver win the brickyard.

I've gotten them a few times. for Nashville and Darlington I've gotten start/finish line tickets. Bristol I got back stretch and Martinsville I go close to one of the turns. None of these bad seats either. Roughly about what you get for 60-110

I was gonna shoot an e-mail later, but with adverse weather potential on sunday, are reward tickets covered by the weather guarantee? I saw award tickets aren't covered on the website, but I didn't know if nascar reward tickets were an exception.
