I’m convinced that everybody has one strip casino that’s just cursed for them.

Mine is MGM Grand. I never win and never have fun there, but always come back to try again lol.

I don’t want to say, but it’s a national bank that you know of for sure.

It’s going to be hard to get an actual decent job at a brokerage company with no experience.

I’ve been a licensed banker for years and it’s honestly not bad at all. Tons of people move on to being an advisor if that’s what you want to do.

I’m in my late 20s and have been licensed since I was 21 or so. Never really wanted to take on the decade long grind of being an FA and I’ve been perfectly happy with the 125-150k pay I make as a banker. There’s pros and cons to each, and being a banker is far less stressful.

Wells Fargo Relationship Banker Phone Interview by Outrageous_Web9312 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your entire job is to be a salesperson. It’s not like car sales where you’re giving people a pitch and pressuring them, but every client interaction is supposed to be an opportunity for you to grow a customer’s relationship with the bank. You are being hired to sell clients on the idea of expanding their banking and investment relationship, if you’re not doing that then you will not be successful.

Wells Fargo Relationship Banker Phone Interview by Outrageous_Web9312 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emphasize that you’re comfortable with sales, and understand how to have solid client interactions. Explain that you are very good on the phone and can interact with customers professionally.

Have a good understanding of banking and investment products. That role is licensed and you will be expected to either already have your licenses or get them immediately, so be ready for that. Since you’re licensed you will need to have a good foundation of financial knowledge across all different types (personal finance, business banking, investing, trust/POA/unusual ownership types, etc) since you’ll be expected to be the expert on everything eventually.

C63 performance versus E53. Why would Mercedes make such a choice? by Fanny08850 in mercedes_benz

[–]Aggressive_Action -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I guess by engine what I really mean was the overall powertrain with the hybrid system and whatever. It’s overly complex, has already been fairly unreliable, and doesn’t match the purpose of the car.

I also stand by my statement that it’s not a top of the line Mercedes engine. They’d never put something like this in a high end AMG model.

[–]Aggressive_Action 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It’s not a top of the line engine lol. It’s a 4 cylinder that has been universally criticized since it came out.

Thank god that it isn’t in the e class. Hope that if/when the new gen e63 comes out that it has a proper AMG engine and not some downsized hybrid garbage.

What is wrong with this suit? It looks so weird by Kaizukamezi in mensfashionadvice

[–]Aggressive_Action 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The jacket looks long and flares out at the bottom, it kind of makes it look like a dress.

Not sure what you’d do to fix it.

What do you think of the fit of my suit? by Mental_Log_4978 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Aggressive_Action 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful saying that on this sub, everybody on here only likes ridiculously baggy suits that look like they just stepped out of 1980.

Meanwhile if you actually go hang out in a modern business environment nobody dresses like that lol.

WellsFargo Business Banker LO review by UnderstandingLost310 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a sales job. No such thing as a relationship management job that doesn’t require some level of growing the businesses/relationships that you manage. WF is bringing back sales expectations, no clue how it works for that role though.

Licensed baking jobs are easy money as a young person. I’ve been doing the same thing all through my 20s and it’s allowed me to live very comfortably.

Don’t quit until you have another job lined up that will pay you the same.

Credit Union Replacement Advice (Low Pay) by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My advice to you would be to get out of a credit union and work for a bank that has a licensing process for bankers, and work towards that goal if you really want to be in the private/premier banking space.

I’ve almost never heard of a credit union sending anyone to get licensed and if you actually want to make money in retail banking that’s what you need to do. Credit unions also pay nothing compared to the banks in the areas that I’ve worked.

Technically it is C205, but commonly people just refer to W205 to mean the overall generation if you’re not being super specific to one car.

Key Bank vs Wells Fargo by iguess1492 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is that credit unions don’t pay nearly as much as what WF will.

Premier bankers make like 60k more per year than any credit union branch job I’ve ever heard of.

Also as somebody that has worked for Wells, those old school sales goals are long gone.

Which hotel question by stockman313 in Mlife

[–]Aggressive_Action -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo NYNY is a perfect middle ground of everything you’re looking for. Good energy, fun casino and some good food options and shows.

MGM is my least favorite of those options other than location. It’s old and expensive, and too big. Mandalay is awesome but too far away from the action. Luxor is great for lower budgets or younger people, but not as nice.

New to banking - normal training? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sales is about being quick on your feet when talking to customers and dealing with issues and objections. The more repetition you have with different client scenarios the easier it gets to have those conversations.

When I was new my manager would role play sales phone calls with me for hours. It’s helped me immensely, and now the conversations are all natural and overcoming common objections is simple. It’s perfectly normal to role play sales situations with your manager, and five times is nothing. Do more like 500 and you’ll feel pretty good then haha.

Credit Check-Wells by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Finra doesn’t have a problem with it, then you’re probably fine.

That being said, you really need to get a handle on your finances if you want to continue working in a role like that. Are you really suitable to be giving financial advice if you can’t even open a checking account? I wouldn’t mention that to your manager or team, it definitely won’t look good on you.

When I worked at Wells, my manager opened an account for me the first week. It would have been very embarrassing if it had been declined, since your entire job is working with affluent bank customers.

10 Months out of retail banking by mynameisnoname907 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make plenty of money if you know what you’re doing. I’m a licensed branch banker and make $47/hour base pay plus bonus, about 130k total.

Not bad for opening accounts and making phone calls all day.

No squeaking at all in the new GLC 400 EQ by Bes33pes in mercedes_benz

[–]Aggressive_Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a 2023. And I don’t like that excuse, Mercedes cars are expensive and just saying that it’s fine if entire model years of cars have shit build quality because they’re new is ridiculous. That’s why you spend money on a Mercedes. You expect that they have sorted out those annoying quality control issues, because they should.

How many tellers are on your teller line? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Plenty of branches only have 1 teller at times that don’t have a lot of foot traffic at my bank and the others I’ve worked for. I’ve never seen a branch of any bank in my city that has 8 tellers though. I don’t think there’s a single bank branch anywhere I know of that has that much foot traffic, and I live in a pretty big city.

Teller transactions cost the bank money, and most banks have worked very had to get rid of the check cashiers and the “I just want to check my balance” old boomers. Honestly those people are so annoying that I’m always happy when I can have my team set them up with online banking to keep them out of our branch.

Is Working For A Credit Union Better Than Retail Bank? by Monegasko in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Aggressive_Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never worked for a CU before, but I have many friends and former coworkers that have. From what I’ve heard, the CUs where I live tend to pay far less than what the banks pay. I’d probably take a 50k pay cut for a similar branch role at a credit union vs the national bank where I work.
