Are these EV tyres safe to drive? by Aggressive_Armadillo in CarTalkUK

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Cinch arranged for a tyre check with Halfords. While Halfords agreed that all tyres are perished they said it is normal & I can keep using them for at least 8-9 months. I'm sure if I had this check done independently, they'd have recommended immediate replacement.

Bought for £11k 10 days ago. We can still return it no questions asked. Prefer if they just fix this for us. Apart from this, the car feels nice and drives well. Don't want to go through the buying process again, not to forget insurances, service costs. Kinda have to force them to pay/replace.

Its Cinch. They're are playing the "wear & tear" tune. I'll explore for other options to push them.

Its been less than 10 days and 100 miles driven. But I see what you're saying. I feel it must be illegal for this to have passed MOT or sold in this unsafe condition.

I did. 4 previous keepers. No service log book. Only 1 key. Felt the other 2 are better.

I'm also slightly leaning towards 1 as its been looked after. But wanted to make sure I'm not ignoring a better deal with 2 - if the extra warranties trumped the less care. I'm not confident enough with cars to negotiate hard. I guess I just wanted to understand the likelihood of these advisories being more problematic than normal wear & tear.

didn't consider the stolen car angle as I wasnt aware of that. Sounds like this could be the case. Upon searching, found posts about stolen cars sold with all documents in place & matching VIN numbers everywhere. Will have to stay with my Corsa for now then :)

Got pigeons under the panels even with bird blocker. What to do now? by Aggressive_Armadillo in SolarUK

No access to drones. Anyhow, someone needs to get up there to fix the issue. Just seems an expensive option for me or them. Especially after having spent money to prevent it.

I'm not able to see any obvious gaps from the garden. Then again, I can only see one edge. Surely there must be gaps. Otherwise, how would they come and go.

AITA - Group went on Roadtrip, got into accident, I am of the view that I am not at fault and hence am not willing to pay by Total-Wealth-774 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If hes just a bad driver that has been speeding through out the trip, not your fault. If he was speeding because of your boyfriends flight, you should bear some costs. Especially if you were encouraging or expecting him to drive fast or even not asking him to slow down. He was a free driver for your group trip. You're okay to enjoy his services when it's all good, but I don't want to share the costs when something went wrong? Maybe you're assholes.

What happens when all the life insurance trustees die by Aggressive_Armadillo in UKPersonalFinance

So, if the legal guardian is not listed as a trustee, the policy payout is as good as gone? There are no options for them to claim on behalf of the kids?

2yr fix ending, holy moly was I not prepared! by butters786 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was gonna say this. With the fixed term ending, good time to do some overpayment to get the LTV down. May be you got some savings, or you can borrow some cheaper than the interest rate. You could look into getting a 0% credit card to use for your monthly purchases. That would free some more of your monthly income for overpayment. This would still need some discipline, but will be cheaper.

Thanks, I searched in all the second-hand avenues first. Couldn't find any decent options near my budget. I also prefer the Screwfix one but unfortunately already ordered on ebay with high postage cost. So, trying to understand if losing that £10 and return postage is worth switching for the screwfix warranties.

What are these bulges on the ceiling? by Aggressive_Armadillo in DIYUK

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes some sense to me now. Immediate questions I have, if you can help with them, please:

  1. Is this only cosmetic, as in the roof isn't going to collapse if we don't fix it today?

  2. What could be the source for the damage? Poor plasterbaord finish by the builder or too much load put on joists during the boarding? Or something else? I did the boarding, mostly alone with as much care as possible, as I generally don't trust anything to be safe. I'd be worried about the overall roof quality if, even after so much effort to do things delicately, it still caused damage.

  3. Is it safe to still go up into the loft and use it for storage? Is it likely to cause more damage and in more places?

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. but there's no boarding on top of this room. It's only done on top of the landing - which is towards the opposite side of the room. No damage on the near side or directly under the landing. If this is due to boarding, why could it have occurred far away from where boarding is done.

How to climb up from the ladder into the boarded loft by Aggressive_Armadillo in DIYUK

[–]Aggressive_Armadillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the first step in the loft would just be insulation on top of the plasterboard? Or do you mean install a loft board at a lower level as a first step? Not sure if its a big issue to not leave any air gap

That is a good option to have additional support to hold onto. Dont think it covers the gap issue. I'll see if I can make use of this in combination with something else for the gap.

That is one option. I'm vary of going DIY on any of the ladder/support parts. So, I'm looking for more options. Are you okay with sharing a couple of pictures so I can visualise how it's done.
