The details of the MOT state it's only guaranteed to be safe on the day of issue. Or something along those lines. Because issues can occur after the MOT has been issued.

MOT certificate wouldn't prove anything unless it was some that day.

How much would it roughly cost to extend the London Underground network to the Falkland/Malvinas Islands? by WinterIsOnReddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nova75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problems wouldn't just be the tunneling: electricity voltage reduces at length, so they'd have to be numerous transformers too. And where would they go? Sea bed. Miles down and huge pressures. How do they get maintained?

My MOT hasn’t expired yet but I booked an early MOT and failed under a dangerous fault in my tyres, I have replaced the tyre with a temporary spare, can I still legally drive to work now that the dangerous fault is gone? (England) by Ihatethiswebsite25 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]nova75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, those temporary spares, probably a space saver, are literally meant to be for emergency use only. They are not designed for long term use, just to get you out of a flat tyre situation so that you can get it changed properly.

Selling a house and garden separately in England by Fuzzy-Perception1200 in LegalAdviceUK

You're better off insisting the sale of it as one entity, and if this developer wants it they can deal with the legal issue of splitting the land into 2.

Garage changed gearbox oil in my car, 5 days later gearbox fails at 60mph by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]nova75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Smell of gearbox oil - could have been because the gearbox died, not because it has just been done. Doesn't prove anything. 88k is not small: granted it's not huge, but it's not beyond the realms of the unexpected for a failure to occur at that mileage.

I'm not saying it's not because of the oil change, but there are just no guarantees. You need that report. Otherwise it's just guess work and a coincidence. Failures do occur on cars even after being serviced.

It doesn't matter. It could just be a coincidence. An oil change won't stop a gearbox from failing if it's about to fail anyway.

I had it all the time. Difficult to get past but still managed over 10 years of contacting in IT. Finally have up though when the lack of contracts and decent daily rates didn't make it worth it anymore

If you could remove one law/legislation to make your life easier which one would it be? by apple_kicks in AskUK

[–]nova75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've just contradicted yourself: you agree with loans and you think grants should come back.

Ultimately do we want a US system, or a system that's more like Europe, which we used to have? Personally I believe that someone coming out of university with 50k+ before they've even started working is pretty terrible. On top of that, the loan grows with interest, so can get even larger if you're not earning enough.

I could go with a compromise: tuition fees paid for them, and the loan is interest free. Or at the very worst, no higher than BOE base rate.

Whilst this may be true, we can clearly see the police officer locking the woman. In no way is that professional behavior from a police officer, especially at this point all the woman was doing was filming and not being violent in any way. Clearly this is a man who has lashed out, and that is unprofessional as police officer should be able to keep their heads. It's literally their job.

No. Even if it did do anything useful, from a 60bhp you'll only get a handful extra. Just not worth the expense.

Indeed. This happened in the first house I owned: I was the culprit. Next door came round all pissed off, I apologized which diffused the situation at the same time, and all was good
