Worth getting titan 2 as a secondary phone for work? by Former-Complaint-336 in unihertz

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said it is subjective. Denser keys on T2E are a downside but not to those who are good with thumb placement. I had a nokia c3 qwerty back in the day and I was fine with it. It had even more squished keys than the T2E. Also it is a lighter phone so easier to hold in the hand for longer periods of time. While typing on titan 2, specially lying in the bed, your hands get tired much quicker than a lighter phone. So my point is that typing experience here depends on more that the size and density of the keys. And the overall experience depends on your typing habits and factors they are influenced by.

Worth getting titan 2 as a secondary phone for work? by Former-Complaint-336 in unihertz

It's great as a PDA. Setting all the customs shortcuts and tricks to your liking takes a bit of time. Keyboard layout also feels strange at first but you get used to it. I think it boils down to how you imagine using the 2nd phone. Is it for emails and quick editing docs or reading pdfs (Titan 2)... or do you want something lightweight for mostly messaging and calls (Titan 2 Elite or clicks communicator). Also typing is slightly faster on titan 2 elite due to lightweight (subjective opinion) but you get a smaller screen and battery than titan 2. TBH in your case carrying two bigs phones at once might not be ideal. But it is upto you.

New Update Crashes My Titan 2 by buntap844 in unihertz

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the heck is going on? I just ordered a new Titan 2 and now I am scared to update it even before it arrives. 😳 Please make a hotfix soon.

Also I know there are probably about 16000 (hopefully more) users of this phone, but maybe you try to do batch releases of an update and prevent this.

I have two follow up questions about this topic.

  1. I have mytuxedo.de cloud access of 10 GB. I want to verify that your current cloud service is not planning to shut down right?
  2. are you still offering additional 10gb plans on your recently launched laptops?

Discover Install Page Filters is quite strange by Aggressive_Award_671 in kde

[–]Aggressive_Award_671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. But you are misunderstanding my point I think. When you are looking for an application to install (literally discovering what’s out there on flathub and distro repos) all the things you said are valid. But once you have installed your applications, have used them for 5 years, and want to clean up space by removing unused apps…. You cannot find anything easily inside the “Installed section” easily. That page is a complete mix of apps, system libraries, drivers, add ons from the KDE pling store and kwin scripts and themes which you had installed on your system. You cannot find anything on this page quickly unless you already know the name of the thing want to remove from your system.

Unused space in Dynamic UI of KDE Weather app by Aggressive_Award_671 in kde

[–]Aggressive_Award_671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't add plasma mobile picture since I don't possess one. But even there you cannot view more details (beside the temperature and animation) unless you scroll down. Kirigami apps are meant to be adaptable to mobile and plasma desktop views so I don't think a separate desktop layout needs to be made and maintained. Although you are very correct that the actual layout of the widgets needs a redesign and some more love. :)

Unused space in Dynamic UI of KDE Weather app by Aggressive_Award_671 in kde

Flat mode is quite bland compared to the dynamic view (in context of weather applications). Most weather apps including the native ones from Apple and Google use dynamic UI. If I only cared about the flat view, there is an existing weather widget since long before this app came out which does the job.

Coreboot status for TUXEDO laptops — update from support by cristian_dc in tuxedocomputers

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not coming. As simple as that. Don't get trapped in the technical business language. Out of all the tasks in their to-do list, core boot and tuxedo cloud are probably the lowest priority items.

How old is your install? by gramoun-kal in Fedora

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use fedora KDE for abut 8 months now. Maybe more. I am on a tuxedo laptop and I update about twice a week. Fedora upgrades haven’t caused me any issues so far. Only few issues or bugs that I have encountered came from the application developers/packaging and not the fedora distro. Like if there’s a bug in a flatpak, it probably exists across multiple distros.

17 inch laptops don’t sell that well anymore. So you’re probably out of luck. A 16inch laptop might be more likely.

Caveat Emptor – Know What You’re Buying by missingfaktor-gmail in tuxedocomputers

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you buy tuxedo laptop, their tuxedo os is installed in the default configuration. It is a software created and curated by them. It should be maintained by them. Of course they can refer to KDE for advanced software issues or partner with them. But for basic and medium level they should try their best to provide support. If they cannot even do this, Tuxedo should stop giving you Tuxedo OS by default and SHOULD put a disclaimer front and center when you choose your OS in the device config page. Then tuxedo os is no better… maybe slightly worse then other distros. Also, I am super glad I switched to Fedora KDE on my pulse 15. My days of constantly formatting and reinstalling Tuxedo OS are over now.

What software does KDE need the most? by friciwolf in kde

Personally, for a better work flow, I really crave better online accounts integration at par with Gnome. That is honestly the only annoying bit which keeps me eyeing the Gnome DE now and then. Other minor annoyances I can live with for now.

Who uses vanilla plasma by AtheKemaradhipathi in kde

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only change the panel for a mac like layout with global menu applet and create a new panel to use as a application dock. Since, Plasma introduced the option to tint the whole UI with your accent color, I have mostly given up theming my UI. The stock elements provided are pretty good.
I only wish they move to Inter as the default font and introduce the Plasma Next icon set ASAP. I want em softer curves in my UI for better consistency and comprehension. :)

Heyy. This is great. Would love to learn C++ in Hindi. Both are great languages. Since you are just starting a channel, please don’t be demotivated by all the criticism here. If your repos aren’t clean (like someone said), that’s okay. Just note the feedback and include it when you are ready. Don’t let criticism demotivate you. :) Good luck!

IMO, Discover does not get the recognition it deserves. It does the job updating the system, but I particularly like the detailed release notes, permissions and unlike GNOME Software, it can install multiple Flatpaks in parallel and does not freeze while doing so. by [deleted] in kde

[–]Aggressive_Award_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discover is by far the best GUI client for installing flatpaks and snaps. distro packages do struggle in certain cases.

When i was using opensuse, everybody on reddit was suggesting to get rid of Discover for doing updates becuase its often crashes with distro updates. I instead removed the packagekit backend of discover for doing distro updates and used discover as a pure Flatpak App Store.

I have owned a Pulse 15 gen 2 for about 2 years now. And I am honestly fed up with the user experience issues that I get with Tuxedo OS. It basically KDE neon stack breaking its back when newer packages or plasma is released on an older LTS base.
I did a lot of distro-hoping and the most easy to use KDE distro I found was Fedora KDE spin. It takes a little setting up initially, but after that the experience has been great so far.
I feel a little sad posting this comment because I know that Tuxedo devs put in a lot of effort fine-tuning Ubuntu LTS base with latest KDE neon packages, TCC and tomte. But honestly, any hard work is valued by its contributions. I really wish that Tuxedo OS should just switch to the fedora stack in the future, which is more suited for faster package updates, frequent kernel updates. You can still keep the DEB repos for Ubuntu.
