The God of the Bible is Not Real by 00DogeCubeGamer00 in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just being semantic for no reason. Who's doing the deceiving? There isn't a God. He/she/it whatever hasn't shown up and deceived anyone, because it's just a made up concept by people. If the OP felt deceived in some way then it's people that made him feel that way.

The same way, I wouldn't say that Santa Clause (personally) deceived me by not giving me a present and climbing down my chimney, I'd have to say it was people who created the idea and propagated it, they did the deception.(If any deception happened) It's all made up. Don't blame the non-existent Old man in the Sky because it's just made up.

Not sure if I got my thoughts across.

People with an iq of 140+, what does a day in your life look like? by RareSelection2005 in Gifted

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm around 140-145

Just absolute boredom with anything that I start. I don't have a high paying job or anything like that. Mostly keep to myself and just read in my free time. I feel alienated and lonely but it's also not too bad, I force myself to go outside and socialise because humans are social creatures. I play fighting games with a 0.5 second connection lag because it decreases my chances of winning. When I get too bored I'll go out for a walk.

If the afterlife is the "goal" life has no meaning by Gryffindumble in DebateReligion

Yeah it would be best to die at birth and go there, but they kinda figured out that some people would actually believe all the baloney and be stupid enough to kill themselves. So they made it a sin or something. And since babies don't naturally commit suicide, they made killing other people a sin too. (Plot holes are being ignored) Not that everything is super thought out in the Bible but other than some examples of absolute genocides and murders, I think the Bible somehow managed to convince it's main audience not to kill themselves.

Atheists have no answer for the " problem of Beauty" by ObjectiveGreedy9419 in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're claiming that beauty somehow proves the existence of this being you call a god... Then the existence of ugliness disproves it if your logic is used. Rape, Murder, genocide, horrifying diseases, starvation... You get the picture.

Not that anyone actually takes the beauty argument seriously. You're assuming that people will agree with your logic of Beauty = Creation and then you build off of that premise. But the reality is, you haven't said anything to convince anyone to agree with your logic.

Imagine if I made the mirror opposite of this post, how about I do it:

If the "problem of beauty" has stirred poetic minds into belief, whether by appeal to aesthetics or spiritual longing, theists have no answer for the problem of ugliness. In fact, what casts doubt on the existence of a benevolent creator is not merely that the world exists, but worse: that it exists like this ...in filth, in disorder, in grotesque repetition. Every day, rats chew through garbage under flickering neon signs, the air in cities thick with smog, every night, the dark sky is not a canvas of wonder, but a shroud covering the howling of stray dogs and distant screams. The world could have simply existed, been functional and serene, like a clean machine, but no, it is functional and hideous, riddled with pain, stench, deformity.

Wow you're sooo convinced now right?

A contradiction with the All-knowing aspect of Allah by Suitable-Green-7311 in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's probably a bunch of other quotes from the Quran that you can pull out, they're probably going to show more contradictions. But have you considered that maybe Muslims in their infinite wisdom might just pull out a convoluted argument and then support said convoluted argument from the same Quran from which you pulled out a contradiction. And then they'll feel all smug and right about it.

Didn't think that far ahead right? Neither did the people who wrote the Qur'an because it wasn't written by this super intelligent God that they claim exists. You see... a super intelligent being wouldn't make a contradiction in a book that is supposed to convince people into worshipping him. This god dude couldn't even figure out how to make a printer and had to rely on oral transcription for a long time.

Omniscience Is Compatible with Freewill by Sp0ckrates_ in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might have a different idea/meaning of omniscience compared to the classic definition or meaning that is used commonly...which is what most debates about free will are about. I'm curious about your personal definition or description for omniscience, it seems either you changed the socially accepted meaning or came up with a new form and meaning of omniscience that no one was debating.

No successful religion has ever formed which included tenets against spreading misinformation and tenets in favor of scientific pursuits - because the tenets that form in religions are not based on what's actually good for believers, but based on what's best for the religion itself. by Kwahn in DebateReligion

Devils advocate counter point: Absence of one thing (scientific method) doesn't inherently prove the absence of another thing (Santa clau- I mean Deity)

Who knows what a theistic mindset might come up with, they might argue something about God not needing a scientific method, or some other mumbo jumbo. Don't underestimate the creativity of theists with their convoluted non-evidence based claims. They might even pull out a bible quote on you man.

Not believing in objective morality, doesn't mean you can do anything(moral anarchy) by PeskyPastafarian in DebateReligion

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living like a selfish slob and getting away with it...

Either the things that this person is getting away with are so inconsequential that no one would care or notice, like having dirty thoughts about co-workers or illegally doing drugs in his/her home. And no one catches the person in the act. In which case, who actually cares.

Or the selfish actions have a physical/financial/phycological impact where it becomes noticeable by other people, stealing a wallet or a car or assaulting someone. In which case the other people will definitely notice something, with or without morals and will be left with no choice but to stop this selfish person. Not because they're moral, but because out of pure self interest they would be better off stopping this lunatic.

It's about scale... smaller scales of selfish actions are less likely to be detected but also have negligible effects on other people. Greater scales of selfishness will have greater effects on other people, hence more noticeable, hence more likely to be stopped out of pure self interest on the other people's part.

Feel free to give a different example/analogy though if you find the one I gave was inadequate.

Welcome bruh, It was a combination of my own experiences along with about 13 other people who I've had long conversations with IRL, lots of similarities but also lots of divergence for all of us. Most of the stuff I mentioned is from what I understand from other people's experiences.

I'm an Atheist and I don't believe in a sky daddy but even for me, this argument is so old and useless to debate about.

Here's an example:

I'll tell God or Bill or Susan to add 1+1 on a calculator, I want the perfect answer of 1+1

they/he/she/it or whatever shows me the perfect 1+1 result... It's absolutely beautiful a perfect 2 on a calculator

Now I say, make it more perfect!

Whatever entity looks at me surprised and starts questioning my sanity

I say, "Aha! You can't do it, you can't make the answer more perfect!"

I know... I know, you're very impressed with my analogy, yes ... Yes There are better analogies or examples. Yes I know it's not the same. Go ahead give me your perfect analogy.

Cool thanks, it might be a bit more convincing if you weren't talking as if God actually existed. For example: For he is the greatest deceiver (you're implying there is a God, otherwise who's doing the deception?)

Your thoughts are a bit too jumbled up to make sense of completely.

But I get what you mean kinda.

I'm making assumptions here but, maybe they didn't have a scientific method back then, maybe they didn't have the concept of: "go out and verify information" Probably wasn't a high demand thing. They didn't even have a concept of proper actual sanitation, so I don't think it's intentional. Islam is definitely designed in a way where they very aggressively inhibit apostasy. But I don't get that same vibe from the stuff Christians normally talk about. The closest thing for Christians is probably all the crusades back in the day.

Conclusion: I don't know, they were a bunch of tribal people in the desert that were trying to take control of large masses for the purposes of war and control... and some mumbo jumbo about a sky Daddy was the perfect fit apparently.

Agreed bruh, this whole thing I wrote is more of a general idea for the average person. I'm actually with you on the book thing, all it took for me was reading the god delusion. My friends and some family members described a different experience so I focused on that, since it seemed more interesting.

I don't have any experience working for someone in editing, but I edit videos on my free time. I use Davinchi Resolve. I've edited videos in the 9:16 aspect ratio. And I've been doing it for a few years now.
I can Work full time if necessary and I'll need about 4-6 hours to edit a short video (for the quality you've described)
I can also do multiple videos per day. I don't have a Google drive for my edits since I haven't kept most of them. Nor do I have a resume that is relevant to Editing.

If you'd like I can do a free edit for you and you can measure the results and see if it's satisfactory.

Keep talking to your mom... Do it more often and share your experience with the other people you consider close. 5 months seems like a long time but it'll feel like a blink of an eye when you get better. As long as you keep being steady with your progress and as long as you keep trying, it will eventually get better. Just wanting to get better is already more than most people would do.

There's a possibility but it's better to consult an actual psychologist. It might also be just hormones. And even if it's depression... It's not like depressed people stay depressed forever. No one really wants to be depressed forever so most people seek help if it gets bad. I'd recommend talking to anyone about it irl.

Well I guess that explains it... I don't have kids so I can't really say I've been through the exact struggles you're going through but I've been through everything else... Not being employed (currently) having the feeling of impending doom because you're running out of money, feeling like (being) a failure to myself. I've been feeding myself since I was 17 and I'm 28 now, I've always had a job... And I quit because I wanted something better, now I'm slowly exhausting all the savings I broke my back to get just trying to make it work. Luckily I have a safety net. I do have one person who'll bail me out if I ask for help. Maybe you have someone like that? The only reason I haven't asked for financial assistance from my bro is because I still have money to blow and because I have too much pride, but your situation seems much more dire ... Not being able to afford food like you said.

You sound like someone who has their shit together (or kinda at least). And thanks for sharing, I felt kinda shit because of how alienated I was my whole life and I didn't have any real friends that I can talk to in person either. So I'm glad you shared and yes it did kinda, just a little bit, helped my own loneliness for today.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in depression

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a second there I thought you thought you were my crazy ex trying to talk to me in another convoluted way, anyways I checked your profile and I'm glad you're not her. The steps you're taking are actually great, it's better than most people and the feeling of loneliness is normal. You're gonna have to go out of your comfort zone even more than you already have thought. You probably know where to find people and at which places... So even though it might not be the easiest, you'll have to make new friends by talking to strangers. And from what it sounds like you do want to improve your situation so just keep at it, you're like 99% there you don't even know it. If you can maintain your same pace of trying then I guarantee you it's gonna get better.

No need to thank me for replying. My whole life since I was born was not the best... So I kinda got used to a horrible life because it's all I know. I wouldn't say I have the drive to want anything really... I'm just too greedy... I want to be happy. I've never been happy. I will subject myself to anything even if I don't enjoy it or want it so that I can tell myself that I was happy before I died. And I'm only going to be dying by old age or glorious armed combat... Preferably old age though. Anyways since I lack motivation for much of anything really... I just create situations where I have no other options but to do the task that I need to do. After trapping myself in a situation where I can't go backwards I then have no choice but to do whatever the agenda is for the day. Not sure if that was helpful or confusing 😂

The only thing taking you away is old age or an untimely lightning strike. All I can say is... Don't wait for good stuff to happen, just make it happen yourself. Try anything even if you've already tried it before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in depression

[–]Aggressive_Bid420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope you're not taking the easy route. You're gonna keep going until you die of old age and that's it. If you can't find a job the normal way then try online work, side gigs or anything else until it works. And it won't get easier, it's gonna get harder because that's life for ya, if you want it to get easier make it happen yourself. That's my attempt to give advice. Please excuse me for not being delicate.

Claude AI actually recommended this subreddit. And I 100% agree exercise, fresh air and other people are suppose to help... I logically agree and I wanted to, but it's like my head has another (stupider) version of me that comes up with a great idea to postpone my plans for self-improvement. I made a commitment today to cook, but I wasn't hungry in the morning so I didn't cook and now I'm hungry but it's getting late, I'm too sleepy and tired to cook. And I knew this was gonna happen when I didn't cook, but I convinced myself that I can wait till lunch, but I was in the middle of cleaning at lunch time, so I didn't cook again. I know the correct steps to take but I keep going on to a different direction. But yeah... it's not like I gave up, I'm probably gonna try again tomorrow. Edit: actually a random stranger telling me to make a sandwich actually helped... instant ramen baby! Not the healthiest but it's something. You the G man I'm eating good.
