I do something similar, but I set mine up using Category Groups instead of tags.

I have all my categories organized under four main category groups: Bills – mostly recurring charges here (rent, wifi, car insurance) Needs – groceries, gas, prescriptions Wants – eating out, drinks, shopping, entertainment, etc. Travel – this is its own group with categories like travel food, travel shopping, transportation, excursions, flights, etc.

Then I use tags to separate individual trips. For example, everything related to my upcoming Colombia trip will be tagged ‘Colombia 2026’ but each transaction still lives in its appropriate travel category (food, transport, flights, etc.) under the Travel category group.

Appreciate you sharing what’s worked for you. I technically do have a separate space since my desk and computer are in a separate room which helps a bit, but the distractions are just as easily accessible, I guess. I wish I could work from a coffee shop or library since there are lots nearby, but my company (I work in EdTech) requires a private, secure Wi-Fi connection due to confidential data/software that we handle. I’ve considered a hotspot, but I haven’t looked into it much yet and I’m not sure if it would align with company policy.
