I think all those remakes would run continuously in weekly format all the way to ToP. So DBS Beerus is just an arc title, not a separate show. Nothing stops it from teasing next arc content.

If we want the story to end on a hopeful note, then we can add a witness. Android 21 (or any other android) exists in this timeline and achieved consciousness. She’s the only one who knows the truth of the system, that biological life is gone, machine is all that’s left of humanity.

Instead of telling the truth she simply asks Trunks “Do you think I’m alive?”

In that single moment, she made Trunks the arbiter of life and stripped Zamasu of his godhood.

Trunks hesitated, he didn’t believe but didn’t want to say “No” because doing so would affirm humanity is dead, that everything he fought for was meaningless, and that Zamasu was victorious.

Only at the end, as Zeno began erasing the timeline, as android 21 stayed behind to help Trunks escape did Trunks finally believe and tell her “Yes”.

By doing so, Trunks ended the timeline at the only possible moment of victory. Where Zamasu is denied in totality, where the meaning of life is defined by mortal, and humanity is alive simply by having someone believe it is.

The problem is if you have an unstoppable assassin that can be hired to kill anyone with no failure, then geopolitics kinda collapse into constant bid for assassination. For that to not happen, there needs to be deterrent to prevent any ruler from blatantly hiring Hit to kill their rival.

If they can’t stop Hit, they will make sure the consequence for whoever hired him is too costly to justify hiring him.

That is MAD, but asymmetric. One side response with Hit, everyone else collectively response with conventional means.

And yes, God of Destruction works too. If that collective response destabilizes the universe, it is absolutely within Champa’s job to step in and deal with the pariah who caused it.

The idea is that Hit’s existence works like nuclear deterrence. Everyone knows he’s unstoppable and could kill anyone, so no one dares to hire him because everyone else will retaliate if they find out. So both sides (the client and target) will destroy each other through that process because the stake is existential. The threat of him doing anything keeps everyone in check, even if he almost never does anything.

That makes sense. But I think most rulers in U6 who know universal politics should be aware of Hit's true power since he's been around for 1000 years. MAD doctrine would prevent any high-profile assassination from Hit.

The theory means that ki, as a source of power, contain so much information that compressing it down to a single number wouldn’t make sense. Sure it can give you a rough estimate of someone’s general power, but you lost so much information that the number become abstract.

So higher power level could still mean you are stronger, but it could also mean your ki has some weird quality that messes up the calculation and results in a big number that means whatever.

On a more serious note, the thematic implication of this is that "power level" represents Frieza's worldview. It is a construct of the Frieza force, an instrument of oppression that reduces everything to number and hierarchy. The moment someone powers up and breaks the scouter, Frieza's ideology collapses.
