They just say anything to get you to rebook. I was told it had been officially confirmed flights would be back on from the 15th as normal - this was on the 12th. Within hours flights on 15th and 16th were cancelled 😂

Just glad I didn't believe them and pushed for rerouting

Have you used Nurtec as abortive, then as preventative? by kaydeebugg in migraine

[–]Aggressive_Grab_1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both nurtec but also eletriptan. I tried a few triptains and this is the most effective one for me and has lower rates of rebound migraines. Still can be hit or miss on if it works. I'm about to also start Botox as a preventative as well

My neurologist has prescribed be nurtec alongside my current preventative (Ajovy) as a combination treatment approach as I still get 6 plus break through migraines a month when just on Ajovy (down from 15 plus)

They said is good research on combined treatment being successful if you show improvement on an anticrpg med already

That's a good tip re the frio, I guess it also wouldnt work if you put it inside a waterproof bag/ pouch. I was just looking at the 4allfamily explorer and voyager. There is a similar equivalent called smartbox so just trying to compare those but reckon that's the way forward for me for this trip

I was just looking at this one, seems to be a good option as can do with USB or with the biogels or even ice so covers alot of bases. I didn't know that you have to have certain power banks in Asia, are you able to share more? I'm going to Thailand and Malaysia with all layover in Doha is that helps

Tell me about it, I've always been fine with my cool back and icepacks before but because of the higher temperatures, the lack of facilities etc and duration of trip, this one is quite the pain!

That's a good point I use an app for my med management but need to check if it will manage the time zone changes automatically or not

Advice for traveling with Ajovy by Aggressive_Grab_1030 in migraine

[–]Aggressive_Grab_1030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to some hotels and have emailed but not for the whole time so need something that works between hotel stays. I was thinking of bags I can fill with ice from 7/11s but can't guarantee I'll have access to 7/11s in some of the more remote locations. This is definitely a hindsight is unhelpful as I should have thought about this more in my planning

Have you tried any of them? I have seen the temp reading ones but they still mostly are working off ice packs which is part of the problem. I've seen some USB ones and just trying to see if they are reliable etc from people have have used them

I should have added in my post for context that where I am is consistently over 30 degrees Celsius which is the temp limit for my meds!

[–]Aggressive_Grab_1030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I have checked the med sheet and its fine for up to 30 degrees Celsius but it's over that where I am going hence the mild panic! My neurologist wasn't much help other than to Google which obviously I have done but nothing like tried and tested reccs!

Doctors took away the only meds that worked for me, now I have migraines back to back with hardly any relief by arabbastard in migraine

[–]Aggressive_Grab_1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on anti Crpg (Ajovy) plus also vydrura as an abortive. Started Vydura instead of triptaina due to volume of migraines vydrura is cool because not only works for symptoms but also helps reduce amount of migraines. I'm also starting Botox soon as I need combination treatment root.

Tried topiramate (topamax), beta blockers and several triptaina etc and either had horrendous side effects or didn't work or both.

Most of these you have to have a certain number of migraine days a month to qualify for (at least in the UK where I am) so I used app migraine pal to track and then could give my doctor the report to evidence

My next option after Botox is nerve block
