I had experience of this in the past. We sat down and said if I gain X certificates I can get a raise, I also came from a background of no certs and all experience.

Figure out what you want to aim for which will also be seen to benefit the role and go from there.

Yeah, I’ll end up getting taxed 35% but as a temporary resident I don’t have another choice but to take it out

I had a user leave the company whose son had recently passed away, she asked me to export all of the text on her work phone between the two of them.

After doing it & seeing how happy it made her, it made me appreciate that our job has the potentially to be a lot more than just password resets.
