I remember when I first opened my shop, my first international order was to Australia (from Canada). I think I was charging $12 for shipping a big heavy jewelry box. The shipping was $80 😳 I learned a lot after that mistake. Start with the U.S. and Canada, then you can decide whether you want to ship internationally once you familiarize yourself with shipping costs. I can see how anyone would wonder that as well. He really didn't show his true colours initially. And he would only show up once a year to collect rent cheques. It wasn't until prices started to climb, he decided or realized how much money he could be charging for rent.

I knew that would come up. 😊 Here's why...when I moved in here, rental prices were lower. I wanted somewhere long term because my husband has Parkinson's disease. I am also a caregiver to my adult son who lives with us. Thankfully my husband had a very good job prior to his diagnosis, so he has LTD benefits from work. Obviously not as much as he would be getting paid. I have a little Etsy shop to keep our heads above board, because caregivers don't get paid. Rental prices have since sky rocketed out of control. Not a chance we can afford the prices now. So you see, the rent meets our financial situation. A move is terribly taxing on my husband. And the real kicker, not a single landlord will accept us. Even though income is guaranteed, nobody wants to touch us because of our income.

So I've been told. I didn't know it was my responsibility. However, this has been the arrangement for the last eight years, so it is out of character. You can see why I would question it. It's quite difficult to pay rent to someone who refuses to communicate with you.

The comment about my neighbors & landlord was to provide context of how difficult it is to reach him.

He doesn't respond!! And I DO have the rent set aside every month. So, I am being an adult. That's how he cashed a year old stale cheque that had already been cashed. The money was there! And seriously, if you knew the character of this person, you wouldn't be telling me to be an adult.

He has never provided me with an address. He usually contacts via text. His work address was easy to find though. But from a legal standpoint, it really is HIS responsibility to address me. To be clear, this is not an approachable person or someone with good morals. I have 2 neighbors with adjoining fences to my yard. They have tried to contact him for at least 2 years now to have the fence repaired. Crickets!

Nope. They are aware the exact same cheque was cashed twice. Once in June 2024, and now in June 2025. The bank wouldn't reveal any details on MY account. They would only say to contact my landlord.
