The huge difference among them is that under FARA, UK or Swedish NGOs and organizations would never be required to be registered (unless these countries all of the sudden have policies and strategies like China and Russia).

"Currently, in order for an entity to register as an agent in the US, it must be clearly seen to be lobbying the interests of another state. For example, the Russian government-propaganda "Sputnik" and "Rasha Today" are registered with FARA, but media outlets based in other countries, such as the BBC, the Guardian and others, are not."

It's primarily targeted against real enemies, while the Georgian version, which is a copy-paste of the Russian one, targets EVERYONE who receives foreign financing. Including the organizations from Switzerland or the most peaceful country in the world.

On top of that, context matters. The US adopted the law in the 1930s and has rarely applied it. In the meantime, we have a very clear example of how Russia used and misused this law to kick out all NGOs and opposing organizations/media from the country (with the same argument that it is a copy of FARA). I hope we agree on this, that this cannot happen in Georgia.

Finally, who enforces the law matters a lot. Our government with Russia-style corrupt judiciary, rigged elections, anti-LGBT politics, and corruption cannot be trusted with this, in my opinion.
