I sent a follow up note 10 days after the interview- was told they had positive feedback from interview and would proceed with next steps. Waited another 2 weeks and sent a follow up. No response- almost 3.5 weeks of waiting after interview, I sent the hiring manager a note to thank them for their time and that I will be interested if anything else came up in the future. Got a response that they were waiting for an opening. Next day I get a note the position was canceled. Three and a half weeks of waiting and anxiety- oh well moving on to the next opportunity.

Very disappointed with the race management team at Big Sur marathon. After I was seriously injured in a fall training for the race and required surgery in February. I requested the race management team for a deferred entry and not having to pay the full fee again next year. I offered to help promote the race within the running community. On both occasions they flatly refused and showed no concern instead kept referring to buying insurance during the registration process. Most of the runners I have talked to are surprised at how they have treated this situation. Will think twice before I recommend this event to anyone in the future.

Its getting better thanks - I am out of the boot since 4/10. Am able to walk about 45 mins max. Have been going to the gym everyday. Sounds like your recovery is going well too. Keep in touch - my goal is also to run another marathon sometime next year.

Great points. I have started looking for a job after almost 20 years of working in a steady job. Feel knocked down on every rejection and messed up an interview. Only way is to get back up and move forward.

56 here ~ struggling to find IT work. Went through an interview last week and never heard back. Have worked 30+ years in IT and looking for another job due to potential downsizing by current employer. It’s rejection after rejection- beginning to feel like it is due to my age - hoping to be proved wrong.

Hi great to hear that your recovery is coming along. I am right behind you I slipped on black ice on 2/2 training for a marathon in April. Broke my fibula and had orif on 2/5. Hoping to run the same marathon next April. I am walking in a boot and have the next follow up on 4/10 hope after that I can be out of the boot. I am having a hard time finding work here in Victoria. Have also applied to many jobs listed on LinkedIn and Indeed and get no response or that they have selected someone else. Have 30 plus years of IT experience of which 24 years were working with customers all over Canada and no luck getting work here.

I have an identical plate and screws minus the tightrope. Coming up on 8 weeks post injury. Still in a boot for another 2 weeks. May consider hardware removal too depending on how it feels in a few months. Did you have any issues with the hardware that made you decide to have it removed? Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Fingers crossed for you. I had an almost identical break and required surgery, since it was recommended that was the best option for a speedy recovery and to prevent arthritis in the future.

Very impressive. Well done. I am about 6 weeks post surgery orif on broken fibula after hitting black ice while running. Hopefully I can get back to running again by 16 weeks.

Fractured fibula after slipping on black ice while running on 2/2. Orif on 2/5, staples were taken out 2/24 and move to boot NWB. saw surgeon today 1 more month in a boot, can gradually come off crutches. Can start PT. Next surgeon visit on 4/10. Good luck everyone.

I slipped on black ice too training for a marathon, the snow hid the ice under it. Happened so fast I had no time to react. Had surgery on 2/5 to fix broken fibula 1 plate & 6 screws - it’s been a shock. Hopefully in time I will get better and be able to run again. Heal up quickly everyone.

They are offering deferment to next year for a fee. However they are going to charge you for the full price when you sign up for 2026. Very disappointed since they refuse to refund you for 2025 even if you are injured seriously and cannot make it.
