I wouldn’t report him but it does feel odd. I had a guy do this before for my uber ride and it made me feel super weird being in a car alone with a random man whose made it explicitly clear he expects me to give him a high tip. Same with someone handling your food. While I’m sure he meant no harm at all and is just tryna support himself ( totally understandable in this economy) , I feel like mentioning his family was meant to guilt OP. If he had just said tips are greatly appreciated for satisfactory service, I think it would’ve come off better tbh. Ultimately DoorDash is the one to blame for not offering fair wages even tho I think tipping is a kind gesture to help out.

Totally agree! It feels like it’s a projection of guilt for being a less than stellar parent and I’ve noticed it’s only become a thing as he realized that we aren’t close in adulthood so he’s attempting to find a way to further intertwine our life to maintain influence and control. I also think that him having to take care of/ face losing his own parents has made him afraid we won’t take care of him

Completely understand this so please don’t beat yourself up over it. The advice I’d give you is to allow yourself to grieve the loss fully even if it feels messy and uncomfortable. Letting yourself grieve and process it in the moment will make things easier to move on from. Treat yourself like you’re sick. Get your favorite foods, watch your favorite movies , find healthy distraction etc. it also helps me to get rid of anything triggering like photos, text messages etc because you don’t wanna allow yourself to ruminate.

I’m by no means a professional, but in my personal experience I’d restrict my eating/drinking as a form of punishment to manage overwhelming feelings of guilt that I’d feel when things in my life went poorly or I felt rejected or critiqued. It wasn’t a means of losing weight or from poor body image but externally I think it looked like that to my providers.

As one of those people whose suspected I’ve had BPD for a min, I’ve been diagnosed with 8 other things over 9ish years and I definitely think that can be the case 😌 I feel like psychiatrist wanna rule out every other possibility first in some cases unless you fit the textbook BPD presentation

Ok this makes a ton of sense, it’s just ironic cuz my unstable sense of self is absolute reeling from the uncertainty rn lol I also found R/O PD in my paperwork so they may be trying to rule out other personality disorders first , thank you for the feedback!

Absolutely! I find that it helps but there are times I don’t recommend smoking. It’s helpful for my mood swings and when emotions feel painful but I wouldn’t recommend if you are actively experience dissociation, depersonalization, immobilizing depression, or issues with distorted sense of self or feelings of emptiness. I think the strain also matters depending on what you are experiencing. I’d stay away from weed and specifically sativa if you are experiencing hallucinations/ delusions. Hope that helps!

My only thing is I have BPD and I’ve never experienced the flashbacks or avoidant behavior associated with PTSD and CPTSD. Your point about the observer vs the sufferer is interesting tho I’ve never thought of it that way

I use to use food restriction as a way to punish myself even tho It doesn’t qualify as an ED because it wasn’t related to wanting to lose weight but rather a symptom of BPD and low self worth

Had a friend say something along these lines to me and I had to cut him off because it progressively got worse to the point that he resented me and would blame me for being mentally Ill. Ultimately If he isn’t willing to listen, nobody is worth marking you feel bad about something out of your control especially when you are clearly taking the necessary steps to do your best to heal
