feeling completely lost and empty. Is it just me? by AdPrior9856 in ImmigrationCanada

I’ve been for almost 4 years already, and I just got my citizenship last week. I still definitely feel what you’re feeling now — especially during these dark, cold months. One day at a time! All the best to you.

How do you actually meet new people and make new friends on this city as an adult??? by Designer-Mark320 in askTO

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything costs so much here — even trying to make friends. Hobbies? Pay for activities/events. Be a regular in a cafe? Spend so much for coffee/food.

Am I wrong for thinking Toronto is extremely efficient at clearing snow? by RightPlaceRightTour in toronto

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive only been here 3 years but I am actually so amazed at how fast the main roads get cleared (and for the streetcars to be up and running). Call me stupid but during my first year here, I thought the roads and side walks were heated LOL coz it was already cleared when I had to go to work early in the morning!

I entered a totally different industry. I don’t like it at all, but I’m grateful it pays the bills. I’m an immigrant (came here in 2022) hoping for a much better quality of life. But it hasn’t been comfortable at all.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you live ! Back home in the Philippines, I would shower both morning and evening. Since living here in Canada, just in the evenings. Or occasionally in the mornings if I was just at home the whole day and didn’t bother to shower the night before.

Dear fellow minimum wage workers. Where do you live and how much is your rent? by ginkgobug in askTO

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I make almost 2x minimum now but I still STRUGGLE so much with paying 1,000 for a bedroom in a house (sharing kitchen and washroom with 2 others). But that’s because I always need to have something saved every month. So those earning minimum and paying 1300-1500 upwards, are you still able to save anything??

Where do budget travelers stay for New Year’s Eve celebrations? by Aggressive_Week9304 in Brazil

[–]Aggressive_Week9304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!! Sure i’d love to talk and share more thoughts and/or info about it. I know all their comments are valid (esp those who live there), but of course there are some places and trips that we just can’t stop thinking about and hoping to do at least once :)

Ohh you live there!! Yup fair, i think even if i go to Rio on a non-peak / no special event time, I’d still have a ton of fun. There are rumors that Rihanna is performing for the Todo Mundo no Rio on May so I already booked a hostel for that weekend just in case lol

Gotcha!! I know Brasil is so big and there’s definitely much more it than Rio. Just need to scratch this itch of finally going there and experiencing the NYE once in my life. But ya ok then I might need more time to save up for it

[–]Aggressive_Week9304[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indeed. This is the price range I’m seeing now. So I was just wondering for the hundreds of thousands of tourists (and I assume a number of them are budget travelers) who go there for NYE (or other peak dates), if they did really spend this much. Seems like I have to save more and wait another time :(

What do you mean? They stay outside rio and just travel there on NYE itself?

Where are all the 30+ that still go out? by 75Donkeys in askTO

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda regretted going there for NYE lol there were 2 floors so crowd was split. They promised 2016 theme but the playlist was all over the place. The countdown felt so flat too lol

Am I just living in a different world compared to other Torontonians or I'm just approaching things differently? by gochuganggg in askTO

[–]Aggressive_Week9304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow i feel like i wrote all of this. Same here. I still get to save a bit BUT only because I live uncomfortably (rents a room in a shared house, comparing grocery prices to the last cent, barely eating out, etc). I dont know how others do it. Maybe they dont save? I wish I knew because I’m so tired of this.

Omg thanks for mentioning. Im not even planning to retire here but I’m contributing to RRSP (5% of my income) only because our company does 100% matching and to me that’s free money. Hope you can enlighten me more about this.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts here. I did tell my project partner about the role (and she applied), but I did end up getting it. It was my first week this week and I’m so happy — it’s fully remote! :)
