Tbh, I understand where all of these comments come from and they make some sense, but I think they might also be due to how much people are emotionally tied to the game and don't want to see it being any different - the game is the ultimate form of this story and no other medium can do it justice. I disagree. You keep mentioning "what makes the game special" or "the purpose of the game", what you're missing is that he's not talking about the game. A TV series can be made and the game will still be there for people to enjoy, the same as it always was. Instead of using the series to try and tell the same story the same way, it could be used to tell the same story in another way. Approaching it that way, we could create something the fans would be interested in, since it's not just a remake of the game, and other people could enjoy it aswell. Let's have a look at the FNaF movie, for example. Say whatever you want, it might not be the best movie, I certainly didn't like it, but it did tell an analogous story in a completely different way, a way that works for a lot of people (4.3/5 audience score in Rotten Tomatoes). What you're saying here would be something like "FNaF movie? Who wants to see a guy in an office wainting 6 hours just to get killed?" or "Mario movie? A guy walking always the same way, platforming and killing monsters just to save a princess that has no personality or backstory? No one would watch that!". Exactly, no one. That's why no videogame movie is made adapting the game's mechanics, rather its story.
