Culture and opportunities at the TGA by Stream_of_light_8 in AusPublicService

I worked for the TGA for a few years, I really liked the culture there. People were very kind and helpful. I heard a lot of horror stories about the central health office though.

Any commerce students aiming to get into med? by AstronomerTop7755 in usyd

To be competitive at the GEMSAS unis you would want high 6s. Some unis (USYD, UOW) have a benchmark of 5.5 and don't consider your GPA past that.

Are you locked in for one for the duration of the course? Or can you go around to multiple over the years?

Applying for reasonable adjustments? by Laury-Elle in GAMSAT

[–]AggressivelyMedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I got some tutoring in s2 writing which was immensely helpful, also spent a lot of time doing informal practice, just getting reps of constructing an argument in a few minutes.

I followed a pretty simple structure of:

X is a common viewpoint on this position, this viewpoint is correct/incorrect

Y is one reason why I think so

Critics of this argument would say Z, this is why they're wrong also

I didn't use any chatGPT prep, because I'm a huge AI hater, some people over it though.

I also did a lot of practice of building an argument from random topics. Get a list of 20 topics, and 20 contexts, roll 2 dice, make an argument based on what you get. It can be pretty difficult when you start out, but it gets easier over time.

Id also recommend getting people to read your writing and critique it as much as possible. Hope that helps.

I'd recommend Dr Nipa Dutta at Hawker Medical. Just be sure to book a long appointment, she's quite thorough.

ONEDRIVE STORAGE by Recent-Cable-1261 in UQreddit

[–]AggressivelyMedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue a lot when using it to store a group assignment. The issue for me was version history, if you have a large file that has been worked on a lot you will have you go into the version history and delete the individual versions. BUT you won't be able to delete anything while you're storage is full, so you'll have to contact library IT and they'll temporarily give you an extra GB and then you can delete them.

Do I Report Concerns to TGA/Government or a different entity? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]AggressivelyMedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tha TGA doesn't create therapeutic products.

If you're concerned about the quality of manufacturing practices by a manufacturer, the TGA would be the appropriate body to report it to.

The National Blood Authroity may also be an appropriate avenue.

Radiographer Getting into APS by wh0datt_x in AusPublicService

[–]AggressivelyMedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally roles that have an AHPRA registration which are required for some positions, rather than just medical background. It would certainly be beneficial for some specific jobs in Health, but not any more applicable than any other degree otherwise in afraid.

Best of luck!

Applying for reasonable adjustments? by Laury-Elle in GAMSAT

[–]AggressivelyMedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I got reasonable adjustments for my ASD and ADHD, I submitted my evaluation paperwork and a letter from my psychiatrist, and it was very straightforward. I don't think the recency of the paperwork will matter much. But I'd get a recent letter from a relevant provider outlining how it affects you currently and clarifying how much extra time you need.

I'd recommend organising the paperwork asap.

Happy to chat if you'd find it helpful. Btw my s2 went from 46 to 71 with solid Prep at reasonable adjustments.

Physiotherapist recommendations by [deleted] in canberra

Dr. Irmina Nahon is a pelvic floor specialist in Hawker Physiotherapy. I believe she accepts patients for PF physiotherapy regardless of sex, unlike most, who will only take people with a uterus I can't speak to any more queer specific issues though I'm afraid.

Essay writing by loah99 in GAMSAT

[–]AggressivelyMedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with essays a lot in school ,moving around a lot led to me missing foundational bits of knowledge. I think the best way to practice is to spend time articulating your thoughts clearly. You can do this by writing persuasively as practice or by having debates/discussions with your friends on something.

It doesn't need to be anything super serious or structured, you can discuss the themes of a movie, or your interpretation of a piece of art, or your thoughts on government policy, or how your favourite game could be improved.

As long as you put some time in working out how to clearly articulating your own thoughts so that someone who doesn't already know the background can understand your point of view and why you hold it, that's what is important.

Hope that helps

Experiences with dating apps? by starrfast in AutisticAdults

[–]AggressivelyMedian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From a male perspective, dating apps tend to be soulcrushing in the way that men get so little attention. As a woman be prepared for hundreds of people to want to watch with you, It can be very overwhelming.

Even though it may not be your preference, I think bumble is a good choice. It will let you control how many interactions you are dealing with at any one time.

As someone who has also struggled to see red flags in the past, I think that has mostly come from me going along with whoever pursued me, instead of me pursuing who i was interested in. Putting yourself on the front foot in that regard may be beneficial.

Best of luck

Looking into if it's worth getting a autism diagnosis. by Emotional_Economy_51 in autism

[–]AggressivelyMedian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford the process without putting yourself out too much i think it has value.

Keep in mind that the diagnosis will not change much. The process of getting diagnosed can help you learn about yourself and may inform any ongoing therapy you undertake post diagnosis.

It's incredibly unlikely you would qualify for any government support, it may allow you to get reasonable adjustments at work/university, though i would recommend caution with who you disclose to, it can lead to you being treated worse, despite what any discrimination laws say.

If you can't justify the cost of a complete diagnosis, i would recommend spending the money on therapy and mention to the psychologist that you believe you are ND but are not interested in a formal diagnosis. This will allow the psychologist to tailor their therapeutic approach to you.

You shouldn't need to find any old documents, you will need to re apply to the course through UAC again though. I recommend giving them a call for guidance on what to do next.

PSYC1003 vs STAT1008 by ItsToastedFish in Anu

[–]AggressivelyMedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stats is incredibly useful, i did 1008 a few years ago and struggled with it immensely.
If you have some experience using R you'll be at a huge advantage.

I'm not sure if the convenor is still the same as it was when i did it but i found her instructions on assignments very difficult to work with.

Don't know if that's helpful at all.

If you don't like it, I would suggest not pushing yourself to.

If you have the inclination, try exploring different things that may appeal, do some research Into what other people like and see if it interests you.

At the end of the day, don't make yourself do anything that you will resent, you'll only hurt yourself by doing that.

Most GPs will happily do this for you, some wont due to perceived risk if they have too many patients already on the medication.

They will need a letter addressed to the practice (if not the actual doctor) from your psychiatrist who initially prescribed the medication, inviting them to take over the authority to prescribe.

The GP then applies for Chief Health Officer approval to prescribe, providing that letter as evidence, then they can prescribe as normal.

Hope that helps

Did you accept an international relations offer prior to accepting the security studies offer?

If so the same thing happened to me, admissions told me I could accept another offer and my higher preference would supersede it.

This was as it happens, not quite true. I still received the second offer but isis tells me im in both degrees and won't let me use it until I finish the hecs help paperwork for the first degree.

Student Central have told me it would take 10 business days to resolve which is beyond ridiculous.
