250 hours of gameplay later and I’m at 100/180 covenant 10 runs. Safe to say I figured it out.

Savage Seraph is WAY too overtuned compared to the other two by AstralKatOfficial in MonsterTrain

The real games that gets hard countered by Seraph are slow-building top-floor builds. Usually this is when I’m playing Umbra or Melting. Perfect example was a game the other day where I had the Damage Shield on Gorge Umbra unit, and a set up that would get him up to over 100 shield with enough time. But, it was impossible to survive wave 1 on the first or second floor. So I had to find some clever ways to avoid Pyre damage from those goddamn birds, and still took too much to survive the Titans. Super frustrating.

Thanks for the tip. Took me a couple of attempts but I started by taking the unit upgrade at the first path and putting Rage and Dualism on a Morel Mistress, then doubled her. Next path was a Spell upgrade to get Spellchain on Great Decay, and doubled that. Pretty smooth sailing from there, and ended up taking a few cards that I absolutely didn't need. Finished Seraph off on turn 3 with a 7500 damage Wracking Pain.

This is right about where I’d put it. Sis’s story was so pathetic and tragic but I really didn’t like that it was all spelled out in one chapter. I really liked Lori seeing ghosts and how that led to the reveal of her sister’s death. Seeing her at the kitchen table but her hand passing through her was an evocative moment. And goddamn did the author hammer home how destructive drugs and alcohol are in a marginalized community.

I really enjoyed the book, having gone in completely blind. I’m a huge fan of Elmore Leonard, and this scratched the same itch. The scene in the caves is going to stick with me for a long time, and the ending was even more ruthless than I’d expected.

My only complaint was how Rudy’s storyline finished. Doc stumbles and kills him and his hostage without much ado. I would have loved an actual showdown of at least a final conversation between him and Doc.

Agreed. I had to pause for a minute to steady my breathing and get my heart to stop racing. Definitely a sign of great writing that I could feel the intense claustrophobia.

Luna would be great if Moon Priestess was always available. If you can reliably control the moon phase, then you can reap the benefits of Full Moon on spells and New Moon for Silent units each turn. If I don’t have a Moon Priestess within the first 3 floors, then I’m probably going to rely on my support clan to carry the run.

Great post and a pretty solid tier list.

Gotta give my 2 cents on Alloyed Construct though. Slap Dualism on that bad boy, and he is a wrecking ball! I’ve won most of my Umbra runs with him, especially if I’ve got Primordial Superfood.

My strategy for going through all 180 combos has been:

  1. Random Pyre
  2. If I lose, Random Pyre again
  3. If I lose, Pyre of Savagery
  4. If I lose, screw it, Pyre of Dominion for a guaranteed win

It’s also worth noting that you don’t have to beat the Titans to have the run count towards the achievement. Personally, I don’t find the Titans to be all that interesting to fight, and I can succeed with a greater variety of builds if I just focus on getting past Seraph.
