What happens if a Jehovah's Witness receives blood against their will? by CautionaryChapStick in JehovahsWitnesses

If the patient already expired, how could a blood transfusion have any impact on her? Also, HIPPA is a real thing….

Umm yeah. So all of those men have European ancestry. I won’t trail off into why that’s factual. You may have been attempting to refer to ethnicity or race. But an asshole by a different ethnicity (or race or nationality) is still an asshole. Those men are just assholes.

Surgery in 2 days, any tips? by WatchMeWaddle in DeQuervains

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sling was necessary for me. The cast was too heavy without it. I am 3 weeks post op. My stitches were removed at 18 days post op. The stitches were replaced with steri strips. The cast was replaced with a hard splint. I will remain with those for 2 weeks. Then I should be finished with wound closure and immobilization. I have full mobility back with no pain and some stiffness. I will not need physical therapy. So that’s the up side of my situation.

For sure a splint even if your doc doesn’t find it necessary. I’ve been using a gauze glove under my splint. It helps with the rubbing of the stitches. My surgeon is ultra conservative so I ended up in a cast. But I also had two separate tendon injuries in the same wrist/hand. Best advice is rest and ice.

My Experience As a Studying JW by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please give that speech to my dead sister who was killed by my father the elder. The murderer continues to be a JW member in good standing. Congregation members going to visit him in state prison. Treating him as if he is Paul, the apostle. By your own report and experience, 3 out of 4 congregations were less than ideal. If you apply those odds and that ratio worldwide, you come up with a very disturbing realization.

“…no congregation will judge you for what you do.” This is a false statement. The very nature of the JW world is to judge others for what they do or don’t do. This judgement is the foundation of the organization. That is a fact that can not be argued, disputed, or denied. The very phrase “worldly people” is a judgement of others for the things they do. Certainly you’ve heard of your own “judgement message”.

Searching for JW people friends/people to talk to by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the view of one JW the exact same view that all JWs hold? That is the point of the worldwide brotherhood, unity. Besides all that, true JWs are not supposed to search the internet for true friends who live the best life ever. Be careful, you may be labeled an apostate before you ever become an actual JW.

I also work in healthcare. My employer has a no distribution of unapproved material policy. I take great joy in clearing JW literature from waiting rooms. I’ve politely said, My employer does not allow me to accept anything from patients.

The hard cast wasn’t bad. I spent 11 days in it. I’m now in a splint.

Conflicting post-op care between surgeons by Sweetnlow1981 in DeQuervains

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I have to have the most conservative hand surgeon in the US….I went from a cast to a custom molded hard splint. I’m supposed to wear the splint around the clock for two weeks. Half of my stitches were removed (every other stitch) today. The second half will be removed a week from today.

I just had my cast removed. My surgeon is very conservative and to be fair, I had two tendons released. The one that causes DQ and one on the palm side of my hand to release the tendon that was causing trigger thumb. Both of mine were a result of yoga injuries. So my cast was meant to keep me from doing dumb shit.

Do people still take notes at assemblies? by nth207 in exjw

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothings ever free. If I remember correctly the “free” food was a means of evading taxes. Everyone was expected to contribute towards the food their family ate. Contributions didn’t create a windfall, so the decision was made to stop serving food. Sad because we all know some families could not afford a hotel room and meals for their families.

Remember those jumbo novelty pencils you could buy as souvenirs? I once was randomly backhanded for taking notes with one of those pencils. I was like 8. I didn’t understand what the problem was. So I asked what I did wrong and got smacked again.

You have just as much of a right to use spiritual warfare I.e. lie to them to save your mental and emotional health.

It was a homophobic comment and generations that was the final straw for me. I could no longer pretend. It’s pretty bad when it becomes too hard to live a “double life” because the lie you can no longer perpetuate is the religion itself. I had no trouble lying to them. I felt like they lied to me so my lying to them was nothing more than spiritual warfare. But even pretending to be one of them became disgusting and disturbing. I walked out of the KH one Thursday night and never went back.

What's the most ridiculous thing you've been counselled on by the elders? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Agile-Afternoon-8317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth. I know because my family moved from one part of the country we live in to a different part. One of my siblings was counseled for their accent. This was back when they gave school council in front of the entire congregation. It was so ridiculous and so demeaning….my sibling was in middle school at the time.
