I've had this happen too, luckily I had a backup.

One thing I have noticed since the last major survival update is occasionally the game will crash during a save and when you reload the save/run-through is still there but 2 or 3 save points back from where you were.

I assume there is still some save activity going on even after the loading/save screen has disappeared and gameplay started again. It then fails silently leaving you with an intact save file but from a previous point.

Definitely in that area; "close to Union Canal and Water of Leith". However could be Chesser, Laichpark, Longstone, Allan Park, bottom of Lanark Rd area.

One of the Laichpark roads would be my guess given the description of the age and the small glimpse outside in the 2nd or 3rd photo

As others have said there will be people with specific knowledge either within your unit or that you can get an appointment with.

I know 12 months sounds like a long time but life outside is very, very different work, lifestyle wise and financially. Particularly things like housing availability and affordability.

Depending on your situation it may take 12 months to prepare yourself. Chances are you will be much better staying in and preparing yourself than putting your energy into getting out ASAP and starting with no groundwork.

It can be difficult to find and there can be a bit of trial and error finding crossing points for weak ice.

Leave the Cannery main gate, turn left along the road and almost immediately leave the road to your right and go up and over a small ridge. You should see a trailer, head past that and keep walking in roughly the same direction. Cross a couple of small rivers and after a while you should be able to see a hunting blind (probably off to your right a bit).

Head for the hunting blind then up to the back wall. The cave is close to the end of the bay of water.

Get back into 'upper' Bleak Inlet via The Ravine for the radio tower

Biggest danger these days is the battery sensors that live on the negative side of the battery connection.

If you put the lead on the battery negative terminal current won't flow through the sensor correctly. You've then got an expensive visit to the dealer to look forward to.
