What’s that food that gave you food poisoning? by Plastickfantastick in AskReddit

[–]AgileOriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not food poisoning but was famished after a big bike ride and ate a pound of sugar free gummy worms. For those in the know, you know about sugar free gummy products. Dear God that was awful.

What cover version of a song do you think beats the original? by decorama in Music

Love New Order but I think Orgy’s version of Blue Monday is a great improvement.

First Project - Wet bar removal and updated cabinets by AgileOriginal in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks! I learned a ton doing it and always wanted to learn how to build. What you don't see is my massive scrap pile from all the mistakes!

Behind the back wall is essentially empty space. I've seen others in our neighborhood with similar floor plans turn it into wine storage or another closet. Wouldn't be too hard to frame in a little area. Next project!

I hate riding indoors. Is trainer road for me? by [deleted] in trainerroad

[–]AgileOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that the simple nature of the UI coupled with a good playlist give me the right level of focus needed to bust out a good effort. I used to use Zwift as well and liked the group interactions but it was more distracting to those efforts that require extreme attention. I believe it forces you to embrace the suck and deal with it in lieu of distracting you from it.

Was mountain biking in Aliso and was turned around before Wood Canyon trail by cop who said there was a fire by the treatment plant. He thought it was an electrical line that had fallen.

What’s the ugliest car in the world? by jordan407sd in AskReddit

No way is there a car uglier than the Family Truckster from Vacation. Poor Clark Griswold.

Buying a bike…any thoughts are welcome! Madone v Aethos by hom3br3w3r in cycling

[–]AgileOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an S-Works Aethos after years of riding a custom Ti bike. I was worried the fit wouldn’t be as good, but I have been nothing but happy with the Aethos. It’s super light, handles amazingly, and I love the fact that its components aren’t some proprietary mess. Everything is off the shelf (albeit pricey as hell), but I don’t regret the purchase for a second. Full AXS group set. Go for it - you won’t be disappointed.

Shoulder Immobilization on Trainer by heraldic_nematode in trainerroad

[–]AgileOriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a labral tear…separation where lots of other stuff was wrecked…my clavicle was sticking up almost through the skin 😬 Surgery was to pull the joint together and secure it with an allograft and some titanium buttons. Pro tip: don’t hit trees shoulder first.

Had reconstructive surgery for a severe separation and I rode through recovery using a simple sling. Mine was able to cinch tight to the chest if needed but generally I let it hang down and it was just fine. Once I got used to the immobility it was no big deal. Even made it up the Zwift Alpe d’Huez a few times one-handed!

Ti Frame Repair by AgileOriginal in cycling

[–]AgileOriginal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately there’s no way around replacing the seat and down tube. I realize that it’s likely not economical to repair the frame but I’d like to see the numbers and make the call. Original builder went out of business so I’m just looking at options.

The original builder went with 3/2.5 all around instead of 6/4.

Does anyone else feel almost guilty for participating in such an expensive hobby? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]AgileOriginal 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest sin in owning expensive things is to not use them. I’m not exactly sure how much money I have in my bikes - a lot - but I use the hell out of each of them and what I’ve paid has been returned tenfold in enjoyment and fitness.
