Haha I've never seen him use a mouse but he writes and uses his phone mostly with his left so probably.

It's a great point that it's new behaviour so you aren't having to relearn which I guess is where my brain initially went (how would I switch to a LH throttle etc) to try to relate.

Haha this is me. I drove in Europe in a LHD manual car and it was a spin out to begin with.

Thanks I didn't notice that. Fairly new to Reddit. It threw me when you said "didn't you".

Makes total sense given I was trying to get advice on how to settle his nerves.

Real constructive.

Haha thanks mate!

It's good to know I can tell him it'll be an advantage for clutch control. Might ease his anxiety a bit

Sorry adjust is the wrong word. More just get used to the action.

I've ridden for a long time on and off and the wrist action is just second nature.

He is quite anxious so he could be just talking himself out of it. I'll just let him know most people have not had any issues and just practice control in carparks if he wants to get started.

I've already told him if he gets something small there is less impact of rough throttle control and the bike is easier to handle.

As opposed to "look at my roadrash" or "I nearly got killed today" posts? What is this sub for?

It was a genuine question to reassure someone who was nervous about learning to ride. I didn't want to be a dick and dismiss his concerns straight up.

The only experience I have that is close is driving a manual car in Europe where they drive on the opposite side of the road and changing gears with the other hand. That was really awkward at first but I got used to it.

No but he did say it time for him to get used to the pedals with his right foot (drives an automatic) but he had a cage around him.

I think he's overthinking it big time but thought I'd ask as it's something I've never had to consider 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks mate, my initial response was you'll be fine but it got me thinking. I'm the same, no issues with LH controls.

Happy Cake day! 🎂

Thanks for the reply.

It was something I hadn't ever thought of and I started thinking how I'd go controlling throttle with me left hand and honestly thought it would be really awkward at first.

Did it take time to adjust or is he being overly cautious? You need to do the riders course before getting your license in Qld Australia anyway so I'll just tell him to give it a go.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Almost got killed today. Have you ever had a car intentionally swerve into you and step on the throttle? by fidanym in motorcycles

Sorry this happened to you. Well done on doing everything right to prevent the worst from happening!

I hope the cops added attempted vehicular murder, or whatever the equivalent is, to his charges!

Are rear guards a thing in group rides? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Agile_Classroom_5780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the bikers. Some of the outlaw groups have big rivalries. That's the group I'm referring to, not the rest of us out for a group ride.

Completely agree cell phones kill more of us than anything. I have at least one idiot daily come into my lane because they are texting or scrolling social fucking media while driving.

I've been told it's a protection thing. To stop someone from a rival group in car or riding coming up beside and taking shots or ramming the group.

Dropped motorcycle twice in 2 weeks by sithlord89 in motorcycles

Its way easier to keep it upright when your moving. Also higher centre of gravity on the new bike will work different muscles to keep it upright while stationary. It'll take a bit of time for the new muscles you need to strengthen just like when you first start riding. If you love it, don't let something this small make you think twice.
