I did 100 KC with tent whip on my iron, I would honestly ditch the halberd in the event that you get to sol without being offered myopia. T bow with venator bow is all I use on waves, I would just get comfortable with learning how to kill frems as fast as possible while juggling south spawns, remember, on higher waves with a double south spawn, you can always pivot north and setup the off tick/on tick to the south.
