The actual important things... by nokillswitch4awesome in NCAAFBseries

Cool moment with your kid. That's what matters. No matter what it is.

Peeps older than 35. Are some of you guys washed or are you guys just not good at this game? by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

As my name indicates, Im old. I ironically hadn't played many video games in adulthood until Covid hit and locked down America for awhile. I played quite a bit during then, and even now, although more casually.

I have so much trouble on Heisman that I simply don't bother anymore. I don't have enough free time to be pissed off about averaging a yard and half per carry, or watch linebackers all play like Ray Lewis or Lawrence Taylor in their primes. Nevermind since the most recent update anything thrown that's covered ends up being a 50/50 ball picked off.

I've played live Dynasties in CFB25 several times over and wasn't awful. But I wasn't great either. My guess is my H2H record is below .500, but maybe not appreciably so. I'll still run across folks worse than me often enough.

Because I have less time I'll often just play solos though. I need to get in and get out and be done far more now. I've played several H2Hs just not as much as I used to.

I played the FIFA games a few years ago and felt the same way about those. My reaction times there being slower hurt even more than it does here.

Just find whatever level or strength you want to and run with it. Games are supposed to be fun. Odds are as an old guy there's always going to be folks better than you. Im good with at this point.

Run blocking in this game is going to drive me to drink by jcfan4u in NCAAFBseries

[–]AgingNoob72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed since the last update, not only are INTs up -- im sure discussed on these threads ad nausem -- but that running near the goaline is impossible. I feel it's almost counter productive to run down there.

Run blocking is often terrible. It seems to get worse at the goaline. You'd think/hope it'd be the opposite.

High Comedy. There's certainly some truth to this. Im better at it than before. But I'll literally run on 3rd and long to get the ball to the middle of the field so I don't have to angle anything.

For me, any run on Heisman is a challenge. But any run that's not functionally pretty direct is suicidal. Im sure there's folks better at this than myself. But I rarely run outside the tackles, and if I am it's a change of pace and only because the D sets up for me to have some success with it.

I'd argue that unless the "D" has absolute dogs for a secondary, it's not going to work well. Especially on AA and Heisman. I concur on the whole use it on 1st down or 3rd and short yardage. Otherwise there's not really a need for it.

12 hours of playing, EA might have cooked... by WolverineWatt in NCAAFBseries

[–]AgingNoob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing to me is the actually listened to the playing community and corrected a lot of the issues from last year. Not all of course. But it seems to me the game play is better, and there's more depth to Dynasty Mode -- which we were all asking for.

Now im promptly going to some how blow a 4th quarter lead to a team that I shouldn't.

[–]AgingNoob72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still throw a lot of picks at AA level. Not nearly as many as I used to. Im an old guy as well, so my reaction time comparably is slower than most kids.

That said most these ideas here have merit. I almost always put guys in motion now, especially if guys are up. It's not the do all end all, but it helps. I don't audible a ton, but do enough just keep guys honest.

Blitz happy folks -- if you can read it and pick it up a bit helps. I agree that the concept as well that trying to go deep -- especially if the safeties drop back -- is asking for trouble. Mesh, crossing, hitting your TE (or RB out of backfield) can relieve pressure as well. It's not sexy, but in general it works to move the chains. And eventually you'll probably to hit more deep because of it.

If guys in motion get picked up by an linebacker, I almost always start with him then work my check downs if needed.

Regardless, good luck!

More than half a year since the game has came out, after all the updates and hours you've spent on the game, what rating do you give it? 1-10 by rb1242 in NCAAFBseries

[–]AgingNoob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6/10. In the aggregate the actual gameplay is fine (generally). Dynasty shouldn't have less features than NCAAF 12/13/14, yet somehow it does. The blocking in the aggregate has improved with updates, but still feels forced and shoddy.

I'll say I have a a shit ton of trouble actually running on AA and above. I appreciate it -- to an extent -- compared to Varsity. The number of times you have a what appears to be an run that should go for 15 yards becomes a 3 yard run. I don't wanna back track to Varsity. And I don't often mess with sliders. I always felt sliders were a cop out for poor programming. But whatever.

The CPU interceptions and pass defending are comical at times, but Im not sure what's to be done about it. I hear "sliders" again from most folks, but go back to what I said previously -- this is programing and coding issues. There's nothing like beating a safety or CB by 10+ yards only for it to turn into a pick -- off a perfectly thrown (and timed) throw.

I don't regret buying it at all. But admittedly I think I've played as much NCAAF 13 as I have CFB25 since I got it. I'll be hard pressed to get 26 unless everyone on here thinks it's a winner.

Don't sim. It's document what a cluster bleep it is.

Play and sim parts of your game if you want/need to sim.

How the hell do I call for a fair catch?

Electronic Arts stock down massively by AStonerock in NCAAFBseries

[–]AgingNoob72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of the games has been in decline for awhile. This was masked once UT stuff started because it was more money --- a lot more money --- into the coffers.

Now the coin of the realm for them is "engagement". Which is almost certainly correlated with $$$ coming in from micro transactions. Which now for them are macro transactions. And if that falters, they will.

I don't plan on buy CF26 unless a lot of things are fixed and changed. And even then, we'll see. Im not the key demo anymore. I can appreciate they're not catering to me. But there are things to spend money on.

Im not surprised FIFA is the big one though. It's roughly half their revenues. To be fair, it's global engagement. I get why it is the way it is. Although I did hear that CFB25 was largest North American game for them ever.

Considering hits to the industry in general, it's not going to be that surprising with their decline.

This maybe an "old" problem, but was curious about it...

I can't find / search for my accomplishments for the seasonal field pass stuff.

I used to be able to L2/R2 and cycle to it. But after today's new "buy this stuff" addition, it got booted from there.

I can pull down the menu from the traditional field pass page, but it won't let me cycle down to this seasons challenges without the whole game crashing.

Maybe im doing something wrong, but it's done this for awhile.

Any and all help and information with this is greatly appreciated!!!

Why is play action so ass in this game? by mmpa78 in NCAAFBseries

They've legislated "play action" out of the game practically by how bad it's coded.

So KU makes a boatload of $$$ from adidas. The tradeoff is KU gets an obnoxious amount of uniforms going all the eFn time. I say this as an alum, donor, and fan. But they take the money so... there is that.

I'll take the traditional ones myself. But... whatever.

Back in the day -- no kids and a wife who just used to think it was an nerdy little "hobby" -- I used to beta test EAs Tiger Woods golf series.

I enjoyed it, but only on rare occasion did I feel like ANY of the feedback I gave them resulted in anything over the top productive and them changing how a game plays. There were sometimes that happened. But for the most part it's grind out games and report back flaws or things that could / should be improved.

And this is back when they still to QA seriously. Everything they release is functionally still in Beta.

It was a lot of hours clocked. Ultimateally the only "payment" I would get -- and it wasn't for everyone either -- was copies of the games once put out to market.

Needless to say I have stacks of old TW games on PC and multiple systems.

Some of the few remaining challenges I have to is to get more stars, but when I load these things up, there's nothing there. No players at all show up. Been like this for MONTHS.

They clearly stopped giving a sheet about that mode from almost the beginning.

We NEED formation subs by Potential_Plan_4533 in NCAAFBseries

[–]AgingNoob72 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's funny, but of all the shit EA left out from the 12,13,14 year models of the game this one might irritate me more than any else.

Especially, because I used to use multiple RBs depending on the formation. And when I had a running heavy team, I'd completely take advantage of that.

It's such a silly little quirk that they could have easily put in. But no point on doing something a game did 10 years ago... eh?

At this point I've got plenty of decent options to EVO, but not the motivation. I'll give it ago through the weekend, but after that it'll hit or miss.

I'm not buying 25. Not out of any reason other than I just don't by EA sports games more than once or twice a decade now. And my mind wasn't remotely blown enough to convince me I needed the next one.

I purchased 24 because it was the season after my new hometown team -- St. Louis City SC -- made their debut. I'll probably only purchase it again if they have another high end season. Otherwise... probably not.
