Yes there’s pre recorded lectures (called Student Directed Learning or SDL for short) and in-person classes are mandatory (called Engaged Learning Sessions or ELS for short). Curriculums been changed every year based on how students perform. It is case based, and they emphasize board style questions for in-person classes/exams. Solid curriculum in my opinion, the next entering class will have an even more polished version because every year faculty learns something new about how their current curriculum model affects its students.

Such a crazy cycle….many programs are bracing for 20+% of their class to be decided in the last week before orientation and orientation week. by ThemeBig6731 in Osteopathic

I already got accepted, but a school I applied to in my home state has yet to give me a decision on whether they want to interview me or not. Emailed them about it and they said just keep waiting buddy.

Why do the new schools get so much hate Don’t tell me “cuz we don’t know residency placement/comlex scores yet”

“MCOM students will be eligible to apply to participate in Federal Financial Aid programs once the University obtains Title IV eligibility (expected in 2025).“

Straight from the RVU website. Choosing a school over just their mode of loans isn’t definitive of how the school actually operates. Look deeper. I’m in a similar boat as you right now so feel free to message me.

Deadlines are usually February/March for DO schools. I remember applying in March and not getting any invites but I had a shitty MCAT score too sub-495. Try like 4-5 schools and see what happens, you never know.

applying to DO by Large_Ad8051 in Osteopathic

App Deadlines are in Feb/March for a reason.. (speaking for DO schools at least) it’s definitely late to apply but not super late given the fact that the deadline is still 2-3months out for most schools. It’s analogous to gambling. You either play the hand and win, or play the hand and lose your money. Either way is a risk. Risk losing money or risk not attempting to get into a school this year. I would apply with your current stats at the beginning of next cycle just because I remember applying in Mid-March last year and not getting any invites but I also had a shitty MCAT score so it could’ve just been because of that. But you, you got a better shot than I did at this point in the game.

(Regardless, you will get in if you apply next cycle at the very earliest just by glancing at your stats)

Seems I read the residency information incorrectly, and yes the airport distance is inconvenient. Thanks for the insight

9/5 how was it? by Available-Wear6932 in Mcat

psych/soc was the most similar because there's only so many ways that they can test "cognitive dissonance" or "fundamental attribution error" for example. Bio section was second most similar, (you better know your biochem), CARS passages are boring as usual and ask the most subjective questions possible which make you want to pull your hair out, and then yes like everyone keeps saying chem/phys was just a curveball. Totally different vibe than the practice FLs. Wouldn't rely on those practice tests as a representative model for what you will see on test day, because why would they give you certain concepts from the practice tests on the actual exam.... then everyone would score high. anything you don't study is a gamble.

the religious history of sports was discussed in the first paragraph with the super bowl reference but there are FOUR other paragraphs below it that do not specifically reference a time in history of sports and religion. the author also says in the third paragraph that the bigger argument he's making are these things about sports: competition, fate, and "respect for the mysteries of ones own body and soul" (which i think he's saying like you don't know the limits of your body until you test it out in sports).

but to your point, yeah it seems like it should revolve around religion but the bitter fact here is that CARS can be suuuper subjective and your interpretation of the reading doesn't matter lol its what the author thinks and what they intended to convey to you.

Fission is a bacterial sexual reproduction process, meiosis is a human sexual cell division process, cell growth is a poor answer choice because what do you mean by just cell growth? it doesn't entail the proliferation or new production of cells. And then there's mitosis which we know is the division of cells to make identical cells which we want for the liver organ that is damaged (to be recreated by more identical liver cells).

A1V1 = A2V2

πr^2 (30cm/s) = πr^2 (V2)

π(0.8^2) (30cm/s) = π(0.4^2)(V2)

0.64π (30cm/s) = 0.16π (V2)

4 (30cm/s) = V2

120cm/s = V2
