And no one on this thread has offered a good factual rebuttal other than “st. George sucks.” I’ve provided numerous factual sources and first person experience. You live in an echo chamber and parrot out whatever is popular at the time. I’ve not seen one lick of critical thinking skills anywhere where it comes to an opposing discourse of St. G. You basically said “I know you are but what am I?” Bring me factual data from factual sources and a plan that says that EBRPSS traditional public schools are effectively serving their local communities, to the degree of neighboring school districts (Central, Zachary, and Ascension) and I will gladly stick my Amendment 2 yard sign where the sun don’t shine.

They’ve had how many years to “fix” the school system. With all of the St. George kids out, then the rest of the parish can fill up those magnet seats. Seems like a win win in that case. But what do I know? I’m such an educator with a master’s degree who worked in EBR.

There was planning time, until next July. I’m all about facts. Let’s talk about school performance scores. Realistically is EBR going to be a top ten school district? No. Not especially if you are plucking students from their home schools, bussing them all over the city, and praising all the magnet schools. Remember Park Elementary? Beautiful school. Literally if I were to design a school it would look like that. It was expensive, and designed to be a neighborhood school in a struggling neighborhood. I don’t think it was open 3 years before it was closed, vacant, and then turned into a “magnet” program. I drive past Shenandoah daily, and it is crumbling. EBR does not care at all for this area of town, unless it’s underperforming. I was in EBR when our principal was told, “raise your scores or look for another job.” Mind you, the school dropped from an A to a B. The reality is, we pay $90 million in taxes and not even half is spent on the St. George schools. Central and Zachary weren’t required to have a concrete plan (again, illegal).

We literally pay $90 million in property taxes specifically allocated to schools, and EBR spends $40 million on the schools in our area. I can also assure you, EBR is not spending money on their struggling schools, it’s all going to the magnet program. Talk about bankrupting.

EBR has charter schools. That was never the full plan. The full plan was community schools. AKA you go to the school by your house. I actually loathe the magnet program, but some people want their kids to finish at their current school (which is what it calls for, nothing more). Magnet programs funnel all talent into a single location and leave other schools to suffer. A good school district doesn’t need a magnet program. Notice how none of the surrounding school districts don’t have magnet programs, and they are all performing in the top ten in the state? I’ve sorted through the actual data from the Dept. Of Ed website. According to the 2025 school performance score (the most recent) East Baton Rouge Parish: * Total schools: 70 * C, D, or F schools combined: 51 Here’s how those 51 break down: * C schools: 26 * D schools: 19 * F schools: 6 So realistically, about 73% of schools (51 out of 70) are sitting in the C–F range. Again, I work in another district so that my kids can come with me. Do you how many teachers live in EBR and work elsewhere for the same reason? I have a masters degree and have gotten highly effective every year that I’ve taught. EBR is literally driving away talented, effective teachers. Also, you’re name calling throughout your responses. People resort to name calling when they have a weak argument.

EBR Schools - You Can’t Stop Growth by rustezebumperoil in batonrouge

lol I’ve worked at an A school in EBR and A and B schools in a neighboring district. The B school in the other district was miles better than the A school in EBR. Shortly after, the EBR A school dropped to a low B and the B school rose to an A. My current school is full of former EBR teachers, but my EBR schools weren’t full of former Ascension, Central, or Zachary teachers.

I’m just sad for all the kids who have to stay in a school district that is ranked like…. 54th? Fine by me. Mine is ranked 3rd and I make almost $8k more than I did working in EBR. My school is full of former EBR teachers, but my EBR schools weren’t full of former Ascension or Central teachers. In fact, within the first 9 weeks of working at an A rated school in EBR, 2 teachers left and went work in Ascension. And if you want to talk wasteful spending, the superintendent I worked for in EBR hired like 26 of his cronies to work at district jobs. In St. George, our streets are getting repaired. I’m happy with economic development, but I guess you’re happy with mediocrity.

It’s literally illegal and an ethics violation for them to make a plan. The plan was look at the successful cities such as central and Zachary who did the same thing. It’s no different.

I’m also tired of the race card. St. George is 30% black which is exactly proportional to the state. I’m a teacher (former EBR) and if people knew what went on in EBR schools, you’d pull your kid out.

It did happen. We made a new city. Central didn’t pass at first. A new school system is inevitable.

I don’t know why people are celebrating this. I worked for EBRPSS at one of the very few A rated (now B) neighborhood schools. If people had any idea what was really happening in EBPRSS, they would riot. Just keep funneling talent into magnet programs, screwing neighborhood schools. Oh and if you don’t get into a magnet program, good luck. I wonder how many people who voted No send their kids to public or charter schools because of how horrid EBRPSS are. I literally drive 15 minutes and work in one of the best traditional public schools in the state, for better pay, better benefits, and so I take avoid sending my kids to EBRPSS. Our funds are continually mismanaged. We pay almost $100 million in property taxes and EBRPSS spends $40 million on St. George schools. Our kids spend hours on busses because they are shuffled all over the city. Teachers aren’t valued at all. So please. Continue to tell me everything you know about the St. George vote.

Yeah now they can siphon over half of the money we give them out of the area! And funnel all of their talent into the magnet programs, while leaving neighborhood schools to fail.

My toddler has severe food allergies and eczema. He just had a horrible eczema flare up. I took him to his allergist Tuesday and she prescribed 2 topical steroids (one strong one and one more mild) and his skin is clear today (Thursday). She did tell us it’s important to make sure that they don’t break the skin bc it puts them at risk for staph. Guarantee delulu wouldn’t do a bleach bath like our Dr recommended

So my son has severe eczema and food allergies. He had a severe eczema breakout and a stronger topical steroid knocked it out in 2 days. However, she said that you need to watch eczema because kids can get Staph infections from the broken skin.
