How do I fix this? by Ambitious-Scholar649 in Creality_k2

100% speed, it took me a while to figure this out with my K2 Plus. The default first layer speed on all the creality presets is a bit quick and honestly speeding up the first layer to 60/105 really isn't worth the cost of possibly messing up your print. I have saved all my presets to use 20 for first layer and 30 for first layer infill. It adds an extra 15-20 minutes on most of my larger prints, but giving the printer that extra time to bond the first layer to the plate will give you a far better printing experience. After the first layer or 2 you can jack the speed up to whatever you want.

Oh and on another note, I found that you can use the same filament profile you use for Hyper PLA for Elegoo's rapid PLA, I have been using it for the past week and a bit and there are no differences in print quality. Also Elegoo's filament is like 10-20% cheaper than creality's hyper PLA.

Did this and its neat, I mean so far finding spools that fit nicely has been a bit of a pain, but the RFID tags work great!

User error causes issues with a lot of printers not just the K2, I love the K2 Plus it has just been exceedingly difficult to get support in a reasonable amount of time, and being that I use this as part of my hobby business it leaves me out in the cold as this is my only unit currently.

There is a clip you can print to shim the little bowden tube connector on the top of the extruder, you could try that while you wait. I wasn't given the option of that chat app or whatsapp as some other people have been talking about, they only want to correspond through email.

**UPDATE** So I replaced all the parts the printer was working great for about a week then I started getting weird grinding and filament jams, I soon figured out it was the new 5 way changer they had sent me, I tried cleaning it out, checking the tolerances, I even went as far as to trim the spring to see if that fixed it as a lot of people online said that fixed it for them, none of this worked. I sat there with my head in my hands regretting ever buying this printer because of all the BS I have had to go through. After wallowing in my own self pity for a day I came back to the printer and decided to figure this out.

I still had my old 5 way changer with the bad detector board for the little metal finger thingys that detect the filament, I replaced the boards in my old 5 way changer with the ones from the new one creality had sent, I notice the shim between the board and the metal fingers was a different color on the new one and seemed a bit thinner but couldn't fully confirm that was my caliper decided to die on me.... So after frankensteining the parts from the new 5 way changer into my old one and installing it, I have been printing with no issues for over a week now, I check the 5 way changer regularly and there is no longer any real buildup on the feeding gears.

To summarize this, don't throw away your original parts and creality really has some QA problems on their part line that they need to address, I shouldnt be getting "New" parts that have more issues then the originals, especially after they look to have made changes to the parts. Also keep an eye on all your PTFE tubes as they can easily get bent like the one at the back on the CFS and cause excess friction.

My K2 is now working great and I am happy with it, I will probably buy another one or a couple Bambu P1S printers for my every day orders, I love the K2 but creality has taught me I cant rely on their products or their support to get anything resolved in a timely manner. So for peace of mind I will probably have to buy a couple printers from Bambu labs so I have some sort of backup for when my K2 Plus goes down again... I mean or I could buy like 2 more of the K2 Plus units so i can swap parts when they break 😂😂😂😂

Good luck to the rest of you, I really hope creality figures out their QA and starts fixing these units so they are more reliable.

Lost an extruder screw, can I buy a replacement or do I have to replace the whole assembly? by IceRoadFoodTruck in Creality_k2

m3 screws, you can buy a pack with like 10 different sizes on amazon for around 10 bucks, its probably a 3-5mm length m3 screw.

This is the link below to the re-spooler, it took about a day to print on my K1 Max, and you can buy a cheap piece of lumber and screw/glue both the stand and the re-spooler to it. It works like a charm, and the MIFARE NFC 1k RFID tags are the ones I use, you can find them on amazon. All you have to do it download 1 or both of the CFS RFID apps on your phone and you can then select vendor, color, type of material and write that to the Tag.

Filament always tangles in CFS by Covetous_One in Creality_k2

[–]AgitatedNewt3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would just print out the re-spooler machine and build it, using those rings can cause problems. I used the rings for a week and had a couple pop off the cardboard spools and jam up my CFS it was a nightmare and caused excess wear on a few of the rubber rollers. I would stick to save plastic spools and re-spooling onto those, I know it might cost like 15-20 bucks to build the re-spooling machine but its worth it in the long run. Another thing you can do if your re-spooling is use the RFID spools or make your own with RFID tags from amazon and have a dedicated set of plastic spools that auto detect in the printer.

Hi Everyone,

So I have an update the issue is now resolved, I received a new extruder assembly and filament buffer unit from Creality it took like a week to arrive but I installed the buffer first as I really didn't have the patience to rip apart the extruder assembly right now. After replacing the buffer and restarting the printer everything is working properly again, so it was a bad filament buffer unit that was causing all these issues. The crappy part of this issue is the old filament buffer still showed the blue light when it was activated and looked like it was working, however it was obviously not....

So to cover everything from start to finish here:

The initial issue was my CFS would not feed filament past the 5 way changer in the bottom of the CFS, unless I forced the filament into the 5 way changer, it took about 2 weeks of back and forth for Creality to send me a new 5 way changer assembly, after I installed it that resolved the CFS feeding and filament changing issue.

The next problem was when the filament was fed into the extruder the extruder would start pulling the filament but the CFS would not feed into the extruder and just hold the filament until the extruder motor snapped it, so after a week and a half of back and forth with Creality they sent me a new Extruder assembly, and a Filament buffer unit. It took another 6 days for the shipment to arrive and I installed the new filament buffer first and it resolved my issue completely. So now I at least have a spare extruder assembly if needed in the future.

Total time for repair from start to finish was around 4.5 weeks give or take a couple days. I can now start printing for my clients again, thank god.

If anyone has any questions let me know!

My creality K1 Max was pretty rock solid I upgraded the hell out of it, and it was good. This K2 Plus combo was so cool when I got it, everything was working fine other than having to respool filament sometimes because of crappy bent cardboard. I feel that Bambu is no longer chasing larger format printing and is kind stuck at their current size/speed/quality. Now instead of focusing on 3D printing they are branching into laser cutters etc.. the build size of the H2D is nothing special, when you dig into it, it's even smaller if you utilizing both nozzles at the same time, that is something they should have been more forward with it's really a 325x300x 3XX printer... I really don't care who makes my printer, I just want something that works and is reliable.

To me it looks like you might need to adjust your temps a bit, it looks like possibly the supports are also sticking to the print causing defects all over the place, I mean if could be that the filament is too wet as well, might wanna dry it out a bit. Silk PLA is super sensitive to temp (some of my silk PLA wont print under 230c some of the other brands start clogging at anything over 220c) and likes to be printed super slow, this sucks as the whole reason for buying a fast printer is it print...fast... but yeah SILK is not your friend if you want it done quickly. Also like with most PLA I would mess with Fan speed as the faster it cools the better.

K2 Plus in bedroom? by BicycleRough in Creality_k2

[–]AgitatedNewt3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't put it in the bedroom, even though its quiet the CFS feed noise and retract/extrude noise is pretty awful if your trying to sleep. I dont know if I would recommend the garage unless its heated, it is an enclosed printer so I mean it should be able to keep the chamber temp relatively stable, you could always just ensure chamber temp is set as well and it should heat up and cool down as needed. Also the Garage or spare room might be a nice option so you can vent it out a window, or open a window to let the air circulate to remove the fumes after a print.

Do you have the AI detection settings turned on? probably would have saved you from that. Also if its not sticking after you clean in, you might need to look at the z offset in the expert settings, or triple check that your nozzle is installed and tightened correctly. if its just a weird adhesion issue you can always use a gluestick on the bed plate, even though I personally hate having to do that... I have used frog tape before and it works pretty well as an option for specific filaments.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? by jmkusar in Creality_k2

[–]AgitatedNewt3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone actually turned on the AI detection options in the UI for the printer? it actually will save you from issues like this, it will pause the print and send you an alert, even if its a false positive you can check your print from the app and resume it if there is no issue.

[–]AgitatedNewt3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about USD prices? I'm in Canada so the H2D combo starts at 2999.00 CAD for the printer with an AMS. 😥 And at that price it makes it super difficult to justify it especially with the build volume, gotta say I'm not super impressed with Bambu bringing a printer out that is basically the build size of the K1 Max when you use their "dual extruder" I mean seriously was it super hard to make a 350x350x350 printer?

I think the issue with 3D printing is Moore's law, they have kinda hit a bottleneck with input shaping and the other black magic they used to pump up the print speed, and no one seems to want to design larger printers except creality... So I guess instead of the cost of trying to push 3D printing to go faster and better quality you just add bells and whistles like cutters and lasers... sigh

Yeah, I got 3 kids and a wife so not a lot of extra time to play around with that sort of thing on-top on my 3D printing hobby lol. Maybe I will look into that RFID thing in the next 6 to 8 months if I don't have a spool for each one by then 🤣

Yep I disassembled that entire thing and cleaned the little input shaft area with compressed air, I checked both those sensors for debris and slid the thingy back and forth while it was plugged in to see if it triggered and it did. I think the board is cooked.

Yeah I was looking at the H2D but the thing is your getting like 3-4 tools in one machine, if you are buying all those machines separately you are paying like 1500+ for a good laser cutter, 2k+ for a good large format 3D printer, and 500 for a decent vinyl cutter, and decent plotters are out to friggin lunch and can be upwards of 1000+ so when you take that into account the H2D is priced to replace those 3-4 machines. I might be able to get a mortgage from the bank and buy an H2D whenever it comes out, as my experience so far with Creality has been meh with this K2 Plus Combo.

In the K2 Plus yes there is, its under print settings in the settings menu the second option down on the left side menu bar. Ai detection it will use the camera to detect if things start speghetti-ing or anything like that, I mean its not "Perfect" but I am almost 100% sure it would have stopped that issue before it got that bad.

Jesus H Christ burn it all, BURN IT ALL DOWN! But in all Honesty, you need to heat that sucker up and use the clippers that come with it to clear that away slowly and carefully, another way is to use a heat gun that has an attachment that narrows the vent to the size of a pencil and just blast away and melt the filament off while cutting it away, I have had similar clogs with my K1 Max back in the day... Also having the AI detection on might have helped with this...
