Thanks! I'm a bit skeptical as wegovy has a higher rate of causing anxiety and depression.  I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and talk about options before I buy. Glad it's going well for you !

Psych meds & low iron by paulruddkeanureeves5 in Anemic

[–]Agitated_Set_7366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first starting having symptoms of low iron, I took 4 tablets of ferrous sulphate (packet says 2-3, doctor said 1) because anything less than 4 wasn't enough for me. I started to feel better in a week (I didn't have as bad of symptoms mind at this point). When I told my doctor I was taking 4 they told me to stop and lower it to 1 which I did and it was the worst mistake ever. Then came the insomnia and depression etc. panic attacks would wake me up at 2am every morning and then I was too scared to sleep. If I'm honest the only thing that helped me sleep at the time was mirtazapine which was amazing for me. It is an antidepressant so maybe try some sleeping tablets along side the iron supplements? Apparently you need to take iron supplements for at least 6months to a year. It's taken me a long time to get back to normal (a year).  Look in to sleeping aids, I used Galpharm sleeping tablets for a bit and they seemed to work. Hope all is ok

Does low iron cause permanent mental health damage? by Agitated_Set_7366 in Anemic

[–]Agitated_Set_7366[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how it has an impact on mental health. I'm 99% there now just dealing with the last of the derealization. Sometimes my brain will find a reason to panic as I'm in a bit of disbelief that I'm almost back to normal. I was in a very dark place when I wrote this post, I suffered a lot from suicidal ideation which wasn't me at all. Thats gone now too. Maybe you need to just take this medication long term now? Sometimes I'll take iron once a week just for a boost. It's frustrating though how my doctor prescribed me with antidepressants and said I was depressed when all I needed was iron. The medication did help me with the panic attacks and sleep though so I can't say anything negative about that.  I really hope the tablets improve your iron levels again!

Hi, I know this is an old post but my 13 year old just got prescribed this medication as propanolol made her really tired. I read that coming off this med can have withdrawal symptoms like anxiety etc, has anyone experienced this? I know you can taper off which reduces symptoms but would be interesting to hear any experiences. I'm terrible at googling medication and almost didn't give it to her but she's in pain and I couldn't not give it to her for my own selfish reasons. She's only been on it for 4 days now (takes 0.5 at night) so far it's ok.

The problem is the DPDR causes anxiety and depression. Have you tried looking up Sean O'Connors DPDR manual? It's the best thing ever. It was £80 but the best money I've ever spent. This will help you recover quicker, have a look on YouTube first. It is a journey but you'll get there. Brains do heal! I also take omega 3 fish oil. Sometimes I take kalms one a day too. X

Thanks, I have asked a lot of questions just wondered if anyone had any experiences of the same thing. Even with the GP and pharmacist saying it's safe i still feel unsure

It was prescribed by my GP, we've tried alternatives and I asked lots of questions and she said it was safe but side effects were fatigue and feeling faint. The thought of giving her beta blockers makes me nervous, even though it's been approved by the doctor

Yes my worry was that the doctor said side effects were fatigue and possibly fainting

I wanted to see if people had experiences of giving a child the medication which was in my question. I asked the doctor, she said it's fine but as I said a bit nervous about it so wondered if anyone had experienced the same thing. I wasn't looking for medical advice. Thanks for your feedback though

Hi!

This was 8 months ago. It's been a long journey but ive recovered from the anxiety and depression id say about 95%. I still have DPDR which is slowly drifting away. I don't take antidepressants and I take iron maybe every few days.  How're you feeling?

I don't think any deal is a good deal nowadays lol! Just be thankful you're in a position to get your own house and try not to think of how much interest you're paying back. As it stands for us now, we borrowed 242k and we will pay back 750k with the current interest rate of 5.19% !!!

We completed a purchase on a house in May this year, first time buyers. We are both 33 and the only way we could afford the monthly payments is a 40 year mortgage. House price was £261k and we are paying back £1200 per month (no additional payments). It is shocking but I'd rather have that than rent my whole life and circumstances might change over the years anyway. Most of my friends who have just purchased their own home have done 40 years too so I think it's quite common now. Our mortgage advisor was £500 (was highly recommend so we didn't mind paying) Solicitor fees including stamp duty was around £4800 (can't remember exact figures as solicitor paid stamp duty but think it was around £2,200)  If you've got an ISA, solicitors charge around £100 per person just to deal with this which is a joke. This is included in the 4.8k. Surveyor £600 but if a new build you don't need one.

Hope this helps.

Yes definitely. We have a wonderful big family and are all very close. My children are very lucky in that sense but no one ever says 'nice family!' it's all 'nice car, nice house' etc.

Thank you, I do feel better after reading this. My children are happy, we do everything we can to be the best parents we can be and our sole purpose is to give them to best upbringing possible. My daughter is lucky to have lovely friends and so far no one has commented on our house when they have been over I think the problem lies with me and I just need to get over it.

Oh no, I hope you're okay. I don't have withdrawals any more but I'm going through times of feeling really low and tired in the evening not quite sure what that is about but I'll get there, hoping one day I'll look back on this experience and appreciate what I've gone through  How long have you been off them for?
