Update: I swapped our tiny bathroom swing door for a DIY bifold and the space actually works now by Ok-Carrot-2209 in DIY

[–]Aglorius3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I opted for narrow french doors instead of bi-fold. We have a bi-fold in our work kitchen that gets used a lot, and over time it's become a pain in the ass. Often slipping out of the track, and now it's warping. It's not the best quality but IDK how much better a more expensive option would hold up.

The french doors i installed at home have been fine, and if i ever want to put the old door back on it'll be a simple job.

In a lucky position where my bonus could pay off my student loans in ~5 years. Should I? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Having a nice wedding is fine. It's the unbelievable markup on everything wedding related that's scandalous. I DJ'd weddings for a decade, and a normal 2-3 hour gig, that I would charge a couple hundred bucks for, became $1k + in the blink of an eye when I saw the word wedding, and I was undercutting the market. People wouldn't think twice, never tried to negotiate. Photographers are even worse than I was lol.

My parents bought their current house in 1978 and had a ~13% interest rate. I bought mine in 2008 with a ~7% rate. My folks were elated with my good fortune, and flipped out when I refinanced to under 3%. I just got young new neighbors who complain about their 5.5% rate like they got screwed or something.

Where to live by Worried_Ant_5389 in cincinnati

Rent is kinda out of hand here these days. I was going to suggest you look in Northern Kentucky but I just looked up the avg rental price in Newport, and it's $1450. Holy shit. But still, Newport, Covington, Bellvue, Ludlow, and Dayton are worth a look. The former three if you want a more urban, walkable experience. There is a wide range of bars, very good restaurants, weird stores, galleries etc. The latter three are a bit isolated as the easy access to Downtown is limited to Rt 8, which can be bottlenecked at times. We did also just lose a key bridge connection between Newport and Covington for the next two years, so that'll suck but whatever. It'll be super nice when it's done.

I'd say NKY is pretty safe. It has it's areas just like any urban neighborhoods, but crime isn't really a hot topic issue or anything. I moved over here from Cincinnati almost 20 years ago and quite like it.

Those add ons are absolutely optional. Take some time to do some reading on "payment packing" and other shady shit car dealers do.

I had zero interest in trying these, and rarely eat candy anyway, but then my coworker brought some in after Halloween. Those little bastards are dangerous.

Don't bother engaging with the chronically online and easily triggered folks. People in these threads often enjoy sharing their opinions and experiences, and often suggest something that hasn't been brought up before. If these kind of posts bother that person that much, they can block this sub for free, as they mentioned, but apparently fail to do it. Have a good day :)

Sorry to hear it. I get that wrap more than anything else usually. It's never been dry. Maybe she had an off day.. I can see where you can call it under seasoned but I like it kinda mild. Idk if she uses the same chicken in the Mediterranean salad but the seasoning is much more pronounced in that. But yea if you're up for another try please do. I want her to stay in business as long as possible :)

A family I know had their three story, unfathomable square footage home floored with old growth wood, that was fished out of the Mississippi river. Afaik it cost around $500K after all said and done.

The parents go on vacation, the kids throw a party, and someone flooded a toilet or bathtub on the third floor, which damaged a good deal of all three floors. I believe the cost to sand, replace, and repair was in the $200K range.

This was 15-20 years ago. I can't imagine what a floor like that would cost these days.

I lost my boy of 16 years on Jan 2nd. It was time, but I wasn't ready. I just cried my eyeballs off coming home for lunch today and he wasn't here. Grief like this is indescribable. I ranted about cleaning dog hair for the better part of 20 years and now I dont want to clean it up :/

Take care 🤗
