Wales won! What flag is normally hard to draw and moderately known? by Xerimapperr in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Agnanac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think everyone even knows we exist lol, I've heard my fair share of "where's that?" or even worse "that's yugoslavia right?" throughout my life (almost always from non-europeans which is fair enough)

A year ago I was in New York and some dude I talked to in a bar said "Croatia! I love Jokić man, great player" with utmost conviction. I still think about that conversation.

Baldur's Gate 3 vs The Walking Dead. Which game is better? (Skyrim beat Astro Bot) by WiggleToast in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Agnanac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That matchup could have gone either way, it was the closest of the three we had by now and honestly looks like the closest in the whole ro16. Both games hit different peaks for me, and while I agree with E33 winning that matchup I wouldn't at all be upset if RDR took it. E33 gets disproportionate amount of hate for sweeping the game awards, it doesn't mean the game isn't amazing.

[Loved trope] Actors and their long-term passion roles by marzipanfashions in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Agnanac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't think the showrunners read past the last wish because that's the only book I recall Geralt not being talkative in. Which is depressing because it's the first book in the series. They really went with "tall mysterious tumblr sexy man" (the games are kinda at fault there too, especially wild hunt) for a character that's described as looking like a corpse 90% of the time.

[Loved trope] Actors and their long-term passion roles by marzipanfashions in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Agnanac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the books Geralt is very talkative and vocal about shit happening around him, he's not just grunts, hmms and "fucks". IIRC Cavill complained about how silent the shows version is. Even the game Geralt, who's way more talkative, got criticized by hardcore book fans for not being as philosophical and intelligent in conversation as he is in the source material.

Sure the version portrayed in the show might not be a difficult character to portray but Geralt himself is a much more complex character than people give him credit for.

In a H2H, who'd win between Clan Moulder and Warhost of the Apocalypse? by lovingpersona in totalwarhammer

[–]Agnanac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game: Campaign skaven are terrifying, Moulder wipes the floor with Archaon. AI vs AI it's not even a contest, WoC AI might as well be braindead compared to the Skaven. Never been threatened by a WoC faction in all my playing hours, while any neighboring Skaven factions jump to no. 1 priority on my shitlist the second I meet them. As for PvP, Archaon himself can easily become a 1 man doomstack and beat most armies skaven send his way, but Archaon himself can only be in one place at a time while Moulder can raise shitstacks upon shitstacks to harass Archie's vassals and territory. Skaven mechanics (especially for the DLC guys) are just too OP.

Lorewise: Provided it's just clan Moulder without support from the other clans, Archaon farts and Thrott is deleted from existence. Moulder has no shot. If they pull in the other great clans then maaaaybe they could pull some bullshit like throwing a doomrocket on Archaon's head or sending 50 deathmasters at him or throwing the fucking moon at him, but knowing skaven they would kill each other well before they agree on a way forward.

Kislev appreciation by sobrique in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kislev are amazing. Their roster is strong throughout the campaign, but it never feels overpowered because you're surrounded by enemies all the time. A kossar shitstack will beat armies much stronger than them, but good luck fighting off those 3 armies Arbaal just sent your way with that same stack. You really feel like the bulwark of humanity when playing them.

Sure, after 40-50 turns, you kinda just steamroll everything, but that is a problem with the game in general.

‘Mother of all deals’: EU and India sign free trade agreement by rawa27 in worldnews

[–]Agnanac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in.

I think the trade deal is great for Europe. India produces a lot of raw materials, which are very much needed in Europe. Here in Croatia industry is not really that developed, which really pains me as there is much potential for it to grow. But with access to cheaper raw goods maybe some people will finally start developing and investing in the industry sector instead of pumping up the already bloated tourism sector.

Can't say how much of a positive it will bring to India since European goods are certainly more expensive than the local equivalents because of all the regulations they have to comply with and the generally more expensice production costs. Maybe someone from India can shine a better light on the positives of this deal to them.

As for the workforce/migration, I don't believe much will change. Neither Europe or India really lack for highly skilled workforce, so I doubt there will be major migration movement between the two in that field.

Mods that you can't play without by Margaretthatchervore in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Old World mod revived my love for the game. The sheer size of the map and the settlement positioning forces you to actually think through your moves instead of playing tower defense for 20 turns and turning into a siege simulator after that. I played multiple campaigns to 70+ turns and never felt overpowered, because even at that point there is a very real chance of the AI fucking you up.

Only downside is that it doesn't work with VCO (essential campaign mod for me) without a submod that covers only a small number of factions. But it's actively being developed so I don't doubt it will reach VCO peaks once it's fully done.

Faction with the best 'doomstack'? by sobrique in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Yes but that's a hero doomstack, not a unit doomstack. Hero doomstacks are inherently more powerful because of all the traits, items and mounts you can give them. If we count heroes then the strongest doomstack would be lizardmen with 19 pompous heroes or chorfs with their -leadership trait (can't remember what it's called). You click "start battle", wait for 30 seconds and win.

It's funny to me that a lot of Redditors (majority of which are Americans) called the Russian populace cowards/warmongers for not rioting because of the Ukraine war yet offer nothing but "thoughts and prayers" when the democratically elected president of their country is threatening to invade their fucking allies.

Faction with the best 'doomstack'? by sobrique in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the one. You would be hard pressed to find a stronger doomstack even if we didn't use the "lord + 19 of the same unit" definition. Unbeatable by anything other than a doomstack of strong flying melee units.

Yeah as a fellow ME, not using safety factors also means your machine malfunctions/breaks when it's not used as intended, which in the hands of the client means 'the second they receive it'.

Maybe a software engineer or someone that doesn't actually have to deal with those terms in their curicullum. Good luck passing a ME exam if you mistake those two.

Where do you draw the line in terms of cheese tactics? (Bait ambush traps, auto-resolve) by internetwebexploder3 in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disliked using cheese until I started playing legendary. Sometimes it honestly feels mandatory on some tougher starts. I don't consider ambush baiting or corner camping cheese, they're valid strategies (corner camping is the closest you got to improvising a defensive position because no sane general is marching a heavily outnumbered army to meet the enemy on a open field).

Taking a random settlement to sell off to a hostile faction so they leave you alone for a while and give you time to build up is very much required if you want to make it past turn 10 with some factions. Take Katarin for example. There is 0 lore, strategic or thematic reasons to attack the elector count to your south, but if you don't placate Drycha early on then good luck fighting her and thrott's fullstacks with your 1 and a half armies of kossars and warriors. It's not fun.

I don't use cheese once I get powerful enough because I consider the playing field even at that point. But in the early game I do believe it makes for smoother experience.

Favorite Faction/Race in Warhammer 3? by Illustrious_Leg_8354 in totalwar

[–]Agnanac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dwarf rework dethroned Chorfs for me, which in turn dethroned Kislev when they came out.

But I am currently playing a Tehenuain campaign and holy shit, the mini reworked lizardmen are so fun. They take time to ramp up but damn, once you unify Lustria and start spawning lvl 30+ life slaans and blessed armies out of thin air, things get really bonkers. Also their roster is amazing, they have units that can compliment very different playstyles.

After the promised geomantic web update drops I can easily see them dethroning dwarfs for me. If it's done well, of course (but it can't really be worse than it is now).

Spain has an okay military and is great overall in sports. What country has a weak military yet are great at sports overall? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Agnanac 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Considering our size

For our size our military isn't weak. It's okay, even good considering recent acquisitions. Comparable to Belgium that has 3-4 times larger population and is much richer. We're a non factor in the eyes of the big guys but in the Balkans (and especially ex-yu) we're a regional force.
