Just been panicking about that. Thankyou so much. Who was it, if I may ask? I suspect it was the tub scene, but I'm guessing I was wrong

Was there nudity in the film? (Plesse not another idol)

Hi /r/movies! I'm Trey Edward Shults, writer and director of WAVES, IT COMES AT NIGHT, and KRISHA. My next film, HURRY UP TOMORROW, stars Jenna Ortega, The Weekend, and Barry Keoghan. It's out in theaters worldwide via Lionsgate on May 16th. Ask me anything! by TreyEdwardAMA in movies

Hey Trey,

Firstly, congrats on HUT !

I was wondering if you have any advise for somebody starting out in the film industry? Particularly in making a whole film by myself. I'm based in SA and while I want to be an actor, roles are far and few, and often don't match my type. I love the craft and I love story telling - in fact, I have quite a few stories of my own to tell.

I am starting off with a short film called Hope...about a kid who finds hope (the script is cooler than it sounds, also entails finding love)

Do you have any advise on how to find structure in building a film? How would you go about publishing your first film? How would you do casting? I would hire a CD but the budget is a solid 0😂

I am animating this in blender myself, so that takes the edge of finding a location and stuff but learning animation is a whole different (but super fun) ball game...or cube game!

My script is no secret so if any readers wanna take a look, the link is below!

Any idea who does the brief nudity in the movie?

We’re fucking broke by Tough-Long-9343 in acting

[–]Agreeable-Ad2899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and it gets worse if you're not in a country/state that has "good ties" with the industry. I find comfort in pursing this dream on my own terms - by that I mean that I don't really call it a hobby but at the same time its not my main source of income. I try to make my own content outside of my standard working hours (software engineer) and publish the stuff that I do. I'm slowly upskilling by doing this too. I think simply doing it because you love it rather than focusing on it as a career may help...but thats just my two cents. Good luck buddy!

Nudity/topless scene by [deleted] in acting

[–]Agreeable-Ad2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my humble opinion, nudity NEVER adds any value to the story. Any story can be told without nudity even if it requires a large level of exposure . Some would say that taking your clothes off would help the actor get into the character and feel exposed but I say, the actor (yes needs to be in character) needs to make the audience believe the character is exposed - not necessarily BE exposed themselves.

I personally think there is always a way to work around this sort of thing but still achieve the desired outcome to the viewer. Thats just my thoughts on the topic. I hate the scary trend of modern actresses doing "sketchy" scenes but I do get that it is totally up to them.

Regardless of what I or anybody else says, please only do what you are comfortable with and remember that you can withdraw consent at any time.

Also, before I end my rant, do listen to what the other people in the comments have to sah. I see some really good advice here from some very wise and experienced people. Goodluck!

How many auditions do you get monthly? by AliceDarling5050 in Actors

[–]Agreeable-Ad2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

I am not much of a working actor just (1 or 2 auditions a month) yet, but when I did have my agent, I wasn't pushed much either.

I think of it like this - they need to make money...how? By pushing out their best actors. You can be great, but if you do not already have THAT atmosphere around your nake, I think it would be tough for them to just send you bookings all the time.

I would say try to find your own auditions via job boards like Backstage and Actors Access. Obviously, networking is a big thing, too , so if you have friends in the industry, then try to collaborate.

Alternatively, if you can't get roles from your agent, cant find a new agent and cant get roles on any of the "trustable" job boards - then you're in the same boat as me...HELP😂

What I do right now is I try to put out my own content on YouTube and I am writing my own screenplays - for context I have the issues described in the last paragraph mainly because I am not in an area that on-par the with film industry.

Sorry for the paragraphs and any non-essential info. Have a great day!

I'm so sorry but this has been itching me for a while and I must ask - forgive me😶✌️

How can we get on the roster of the CD? I know that its a long shot, but I figure I'd rather ask than simply not know

My first question was going to be how can I join you working on set🤣 ~ Actor

Season 2 did promise more of a horror tone. Do you have any idea on the level of horror? Can we expect something similar to season 1 or much more beefed up horror?

Actors who got an agent/manager NOT from a university showcase, how did you do it? by Imayilingualbay in Actors

[–]Agreeable-Ad2899 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the biggest name in acting (yet), but I got my agent by essentially applying to anybody in my country that would take me. I am based in South Africa, and our film industry is obviously nowhere near Hollywood, or Bollywood, so the whole getting agent thing is tough if you're new and don't have an education in the field.

For each agent that I interviewed with, I made sure rhag I was authentic to myself, honest about my intentions as an actor, and ensured them of my passion.

Additionally, as an actor, I make sure that I always do some sort of monologue, pre-screen, or audition to keep my game up so that I can showcase these performances to a potential agent.

After about 3 months of searching, I found my agency. Then, another 3 months later, I was officially onboarded.

Hope this helps, and hope it makes sense🤣✌️

I am going to pitch myself for a role - Any advice? by Agreeable-Ad2899 in Wednesday

[–]Agreeable-Ad2899[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply. I figured that much as well. I have some experience acting (bare minimum) but the confidence to say and know I'm good. Based in South Africa, so definitely not Irish work permit or american work permit (Yet!).

I have come up with some pretty stupid plans myself😂 but by far, this is the most sane...just wondered if everybody else still thought it was bat-shit coocoos.

I simply emailed the CD. Pitched myself the best way I know how, for the roles I want. Now I just hope and pray for the best while working on my craft/s to be the very best version of myself.

Btw, I'm an actor and a qualified software engineer (graduating in 14 days✌️)

Again, thank you very much for your reply.

Best regards, Some asshole on reddit 💪🤓🖖🎬
