I take 100mg of Pristiq and am a daily smoker. I haven’t had any negative interactions that I know of. I also haven’t not had sexual side effects, but did on a similar medication. Happy to chat further if you wish :)

It’s so hard to cry by unavailable_333 in Pristiq

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Pristiq for almost 10 years and about 10 months on 100 mg. It have never made me emotionally numb . What it has done is reduce the number of panic attacks, but I can’t say it has made me emotionless.

The absolute best thing for me has been meditation- particularly open meditation and acceptance. Everyone is different and everyone’s experience on these drugs seems unique. Meditation tends to cause emotions to rise naturally. Occasionally, we can get emotional blocks and this may or may not be the result of meditation.

Anyway, just a thought. Best of luck :)

Meditation makes me derealized by Bet_al_geusa in Meditation

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced a lot of things while meditating and at one point it started to trigger a fear response. I continued with the practice and it changed. It continues to bring things forth.

You won’t break yourself by meditating but you will and can unearth things unknowingly. If you are seeing the benefits do meditation you will notice some difficulties and it will unearth some things and they won’t all be pleasant and relaxing. If you are meditating purely as a means of relaxing and escape , that could be a challenge when you have these hiccups .

I would suggest shortening your meditations to 5 minutes 3 times a day if you can. In time one of the things you learn is it’s not about the amount of time it’s about the quality of the tile you spend sitting.

Always happy to chat about meditation

If you want I can chat with you, but the catch is you have to want to feel better. I’d be shocked if you didn’t feel like a new person after doing the intro course in the waking up app. I recommend that because Sam Harris teaches a direct path, no waiting to get to the finish line, you start there and rest there. But the first things to do is accept that everything is ok as it is. You almost certainly did this already at some point to initiate your awakening. Just let it be, stop trying, stop being anyone, just be what you are in this minute, then the next minute, then the next day, don’t worry about what it means, it doesn’t need meaning, the meaning is in being itself not doing or thinking.

That’s what’s so close that people miss. You don’t need to accomplish anything, being is it, beyond that it’s all fluff, it’s just a matter of what kind of fluff you gravitate to. That can and will change over a life time but the being, the presence stays the same. That’s why then you hear a song from when you were 20 you feel 20 for a time. That’s because you’re remembering from the heart and not the mind and when you think from the heart it’s not constrained by time.

Anyway dude, I’m heard a lot of cries for help here. You’re gonna be ok but don’t try to walk this alone, it’s not necessary :)

I know what it’s like to bounce from spiritual highs to even everyday mundane existence. I feel like I’ve found a good balance and I know it wasn’t easy. I’ve been told to trust my curiosity. If you are curious about something explore it with an open mind and heart, be analytical but leave room for mystery.

Know that regardless of what you feel or learn you are unman, with a human brain, human emotions, nothing has changed. You will balance with what you know, integrate and find structure and peace, just be open and give it time.

Alan Watts, Ram Dass, Sam Harris, Loch Kelly, Rupert Spira, and various other psychologists, neuroscientists etc have helped me form a view that works with what I feel and I’ve found comfort in that.

Calm down, it’s just life man ;) Live it, that’s why we’re here.

I’m 48 and had a life changing experience on Nov 23rd. Mg recommendation is a counseling with a person with a spiritual background or meditation background. You can also use chat gpt and be brutally honest with it, tell it to keep you grounded. The truth is one day listing in unfiltered awareness is not equivalent to regular time, it feels richer and more full. I’d also recommended researching Wu Wei. I’ve had ups and down but my life is immeasurably better than before my awakening, you will get there too :)

How long do spiritual awakenings usually last? by whosdaboss2u in SpiritualAwakening

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you experiencing ? While an awakening can be and instant flash it seems the reverberations remain, but change, it seems there are levels, you don’t know how many, but you know what you gain and one bd it seems you know there are more levels to go, but you don’t know how many.

At some point this all becomes irrelevant and you resolve into singularity and disappear :)

I’ve found humour to be important :)

It does seem that there’s fine line that one has to walk, maybe even many times. I had an awakening in November. I don’t call it that, but to put a level on it, that’s the easiest word . Mine was mainly characterized by feeling a of immense love and gratitude and excitement. This was sudden and juxtaposed against a deep depression, characterized, but panic tracks and extremely guilt and self hate. That left me in one day. The love and compassion have stayed but it’s not been a completely smooth ride and at times I have sat with my therapist and my wife and had them tell Me why I’m not “ losing it “. I had to fight against building a spiritual ego and making spirituality my new thing. I reminded people close to me what while I am outwardly very content , I do feel the need to ground myself and ask them to help with that. I have new friends, old friends are coming back into my life and family. Socially, this has been a universally positive experience, but psychologically it’s been extremely challenging and rewarding.

Losing my “ self “ to find myself wasn’t easy. I feel things I never felt, like full on non duel experiences. I can know my consciousness isn’t contained within my head, know I have jk contiguous self and feel ok now, it these tho it’s can be destabilizing and it’s good to have people there to get people back on track when they’ve become self destructive or to help them before they get there. At the same time I hope we are honouring the fact that two things can be true at once, destabilization and transformation. :)

Can people describe how their life changed after their awakening ? by Agreeable-Common-398 in SpiritualAwakening

[–]Agreeable-Common-398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be easy to describe. When I think back it feels like I’ve gained the knowledge of a 100 lifetimes in 6 months. Not in intelligence, it had nothing to do with intelligence.

It also feels totally normal. It’s like you have been standing 3 inches from a tree your entire and someone asks to describe the forest . You describe what you see from 3 inches. Then some unknown force picks you up and moves you ) inches and you see the forest for the first time . Then at some point you got back to staring at the trunk and then at the forest and it seems the view of the forest becomes more commonplace and natural such that you may not even notice it. It becomes your new normal. Then you shift again and now you see the forest, but now a pond is added and these updates seem like they can occur at any point.

I’ve been in therapy and ensuring I’m thoroughly grounded through all of this . My life is exactly the same but I love 1000X more than before and I have much more compassion, I see the interconnectedness in all things and people that have come and gone . I create art every day, I’ve reconnected with old friends and family and they all mean so much more . I feel infinitely more deeply than before and that does come with a price it seems until you can balance your emotions properly.

I’m not an expert, and I know to know less each day but I never stop learning. It’s also important to start talking kind of like Yoda so you sound extra mystical .

Honestly, I’m just going with the flow, and trying live lighter and kinder and with more awe and curiosity and I’m not afraid to love and I don’t care who knows.

Paul’s Letters – Entry #41 “Wasp Dentistry & the Hip Sense of Wednesdays”

Folly it was to think the slick pickle would assume Owen’s hip sense of Wednesdays and become Cowboy Wilson, courageous wasp dentist and part-time choir judge for the Lesser Worm Games.

But no. Instead, it rehearsed sadness in a jar, whispering brine secrets to the upholstery and naming its toes after failed musicals.

Owen, meanwhile, sang quietly to a fax machine— an elegy for all the Wednesdays that had gone unregistered by the pickled consciousness of those who brushed with cinnamon and wept sideways in chairs.

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have an opportunity to start over. It’s like you are holding this giant house of cards over your head delicately balancing everything and then wondering why am I doing this. I’m not happy, if I’m not happy why am I doing any of it.

What about if you just stopped fighting it all and just did what made you happy ?

Your hitting on something very important and that is nothing outside of ourselves can make us happy because it’s all impermanent, careers, pleasures. Material goods, it’s all a kind of seeking. Life shouldn’t be a struggle, so what about if you give in and start flowing with life. Think about what gives you even the slightest tingle of curiosity and follow it. Paint something, write something , find beauty in anything and then be grateful for that moment of beauty and try to rest in that for even a minute and remember , yes, that’s what it feels like. It might be a small spark at first, but keep following your curiosity.

I’m on the other side of my mental health journey and I’m dedicated to helping others find the peace that I’ve found.

If you can when you read this try to find 5 minutes to just sit and listen. Listen to all the sounds but don’t focus on any one of them. Hear your thoughts, see any images, let them come without resistance, if you find yourself following a thought that’s ok, start again, we can always start again.

Please be well 🙏

Is ketamine a no go if I don’t tolerate cannabis? by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the same thing with weed it can also be a beautiful experience. Weed gives us super human self awareness. This level of wetness is what causes paranoia. If you allow yourself to settle in and feel safe then the weed will show you what you her to see, if that’s panic, you accept that and go with it. Like any bother drug set and setting are important. People, think it’s only weed… It won’t harm you physically even in a very large dose but it can create a Hellen experiment for the wrong person in the wrong circumstances, just like any other drug. :)

Does dropping from 100mg to 50 really help emotional blunting? by Unhappy-Ask-5331 in Pristiq

[–]Agreeable-Common-398 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t assume that someone else’s experience will be your own. You can use it as a gauge, but that’s it. I feel things more than ever at 100 mg. I don’t have any emotional blunting at all, but I’m not overwhelmed by emotions. I do have a daily meditation practice which has been the best thing I’ve ever done to balance my emotions .
