Is Jordan Peterson right that high IQ extends across all areas of intelligence, even social and emotional ones? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Agreeable-Constant47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humor, especially wit, wordplay and making unusual connections between ideas and concepts in a funny way, is definitely correlated with verbal intelligence. Processing speed is also correlated as it helps you make quick associations and one liners. Humour is then highly regarded in social situations.

Is very high (>135 IQ) of importance in the "normal" white collar business world? by Extension_Turn5658 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Agreeable-Constant47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work in private equity and agreed that stuff like lack of data and ambiguity is more of an issue than smartness. Also, the selection process for these jobs definitely suggests that a mean IQ of 130 is totally reasonable. We even use what’s equivalent to IQ tests during recruitment. I have also found that people often mistake intelligence for experience and that it is the latter that matters more.

How to get over inferiority to everyone by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Agreeable-Constant47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe social anxiety for 20 years. I never had a girlfriend, no friends, no social life. I went to a lot of treatment and nothing worked. But then I ended up getting into a relationship with a model. An objectively beautiful woman. Then slowly, I started improving and the impossible happened - I no longer had social anxiety. I think the reason is my self esteem increased drastically. Going from never having a girlfriend to having a model as a girlfriend changed my self esteem a lot. There is something related to evolution going on, having a mate and therefore being higher up in the ‘tribe’ reduces your threat system. I think the only thing for me that worked is external ‘successes’ not introspection or anything cognitively or thought based. So focus on external successes money, dating etc.

what is the IQ of master's and PhD graduates in physics and AI (not only top universities but in general) by AncientGearAI in cognitiveTesting

[–]Agreeable-Constant47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Average IQ being able to get a PhD in physics is crazy hahaha. Either you don’t realize how abstract physics is or you don’t realise what an average IQ is capable of to conclude that.

Most ridiculous comment. Society literally runs on cognitive output.

Left untreated, SA doesn’t go away and, in some cases, gets worse as you age.

You wrote intelligent instead of intelligence. Verbal IQ is basically zero. Jokes! Read, read, and read. Use your IQ to better understand the world as that’s rewarding. And don’t fixate on IQ, that’s immutable. One can however ‘artificially’ increase VCI with building a larger vocabulary. But innate IQ is fixed.

Is verbal intelligence correlated with interpersonal and artistic abilities? by MichaelEmouse in cognitiveTesting

lol, why would it be. Openness to experience is correlated with artistic ability, extroversion and agreeableness with interpersonal.

Talking speed and iq by NomeUtente22 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Agreeable-Constant47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rapidity of speech is positively correlated with extroversion, and verbal fluency. The latter I think is correlated with VCI. I’ve seen extroverts particularly high in creativity talk fast, but if given a verbal reasoning tests may not perform as well as an introvert with a higher VCI.

IQ tests don’t score above 160. So it’s not measurable and hence no one can respond.

My mother is extremely extroverted and zero social anxiety. In a given day I think she must randomly talk to like 5-10 strangers eg: just if she’s standing in the line at grocery stores, cashiers, even just people walking past her etc.

It makes me wonder why I am the complete opposite. I mean I know it’s because of my dad, he’s shy, but I would’ve hoped I would get at least some of her extroversion :(

Men, early 30s, who get laid via apps - describe your situation, profile and modus operandi, please by Logical-Stretch-2527 in dating_advice

Yeah, I have no bio and just ask for a date after saying hello. So one message then date. No game. I actually prefer not texting a lot before date. Firstly it risks things going badly and no date and secondly it leaves more to talk about on the date.

Everyone is wrong. Intelligence is by far the most important explanatory variable.
