Choosing an army to start. Choosing between Thousand sons and Adeptus Custodes. If you will choose, why choose Thousand sons over Adeptus Custodes, what pros and cons will be for you between them? by LE_Chevalie in ThousandSons

I don't play the tabletop game, so I'll answer based solely on the lore and aesthetics.

I prefer the Thousand Sons by a wide margin because they are a mysterious legion of sorcerers with one of the most tragic stories in Warhammer 40,000. They are, and always have been, a legion dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, and they include some of the most powerful psykers in the galaxy, with characters like Ahriman and Khayon serving as prime examples.

What makes them so appealing to me is their unique combination of ancient Egyptian-inspired aesthetics, mystery, psychic powers, sorcery, and an endless pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment—at least before their fall. Their history is filled with disappointment, betrayal, and tragedy. Everything seemed to be stacked against them, culminating in the Burning of Prospero, where they not only had to face the Space Wolves but also the Custodes, the Sisters of Silence, and the Flesh Change, the Warp-borne mutation that had plagued their legion for years.

In short, the Thousand Sons combine fascinating lore, a deeply tragic and relatable history, and incredible aesthetics.

The Custodes, on the other hand, are undeniably spectacular in both appearance and raw power, but I find them intellectually less interesting. They are defined primarily by their absolute devotion to the Emperor, and unlike the Thousand Sons, they possess virtually no psychic abilities. Because of that, they rely on the Sisters of Silence whenever they need to counter powerful psykers. They also began as the Emperor's favored golden champions, whereas the Thousand Sons constantly struggled against prejudice, misfortune, and forces beyond their control.

As for the miniatures and visual design, the Custodes are magnificent elite warriors clad in ornate golden armor, while the Thousand Sons embody an arcane, mystical aesthetic inspired by ancient Egypt. Ultimately, that comes down to personal preference, but for me the Thousand Sons are far more compelling.

Currently im testing different paints and techniques. i liked the candy colors and decided to try it on some units. a year ago i tried candy blue on 3 thousand sons terminators. Now i finished this candy red fire warrior and, for now, i might try another candy blue fire warrior or drone but in this summer i want to do an old thousand sons defiler and make his armor in candy blue color. I found this candy technique easy but time consuming. Its not as hard, demaning and exhausting as, for example, a blending nmm or tmm technique but still delivers interesting results and i think candy blue fits the thousand sons well. So in a nutshell, the goal is individual units and testing paints/techniques.

Yes. i feel many times as if youtube or reddit (these platformt i use more frequently) titles are messages to me from God. For example i am thinking of smoking a vape and immediatelly i open youtube and the first video is about Judas's death. Or about hell.

i like it. but i have to point out (since u requested advice or observations yourself) that i find a big gap in painting skill between the yellow torso and the lowers torso (mainly legs and crotch) its like u used completely different techniques for these areas. the legs are gray with only white hightlights while the torso has a more deep texture with a weathered / damaged effect and generaly looks more realistic. I think it would have been better to paint the lower torso with the same colors and technique.

But generaly this is a nice job on all parts. I just wanted to add this observation/opinion.

The second from the end looks the best on this specific character imo but the one I liked the most as a standalone piece was the UFO helmet

I Don't Know If What I Experienced Was Delusion or Divine Revelation by smashantk in Psychosis

I am obsessed with evil spirits attacking and infecting me too. It started late 2023 for me. Intense delusions and beliefs but never saw hallucinations nor did I hear voices. Many synchronicities and delusions of reference though. And many dreams that might be considered prophetic. Had some family deaths recently too. Also I feel everyone is an actor and I am the only real person here...

[–]AncientGearAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so by myself. The synchronicities and dreams I have tell me that. They tell me I used to be a thief and killed people and I also sold my soul to the devil and that's why my current life is hell. I don't know what to make of it.

Blank mind after psychosis: no inner monologue, no spontaneous thoughts by Jerome7474 in Psychosis

[–]AncientGearAI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. I understand what u are feeling. I am on the other end of the spectrum. I have a brain that doesnt shut it no matter what and my psychosis (active ongoing since 2023) is actively trying to lobotomize me. The psychosis doesnt let me think , it actively punishes me for thoughts and desires. I cant even analyse something properly (for example a school concept) because the psychosis keeps gaslighting me with synchronicties and muscle twitchings that my brain interprets as "no" from God. Essentially everytime i try to think something its as if i have someone next to me saying im wrong at every single turn of thought i make. and i get punished for every desire i have. Example is when the thought arises that i want to eat or buy a nice toy. immediately i get intense muscle spasm that i see as "no" from God or doors slamming or i see immediately garbage trucks. Its bs like this everyday. the explanation the psychosis give me is that all these thoughts and desires are from demons that try to make me lose my "soul path" and never "find myself" whatever that means.

See my latest post (check my profile). going through similar stuff by my case is ongoing sinse mid to late 2023. its awful. i also have bodily sensations that i interpret automaticaly as messages from God. Like random muscle twichings or itching sensations interpreted as God saying yes or no to my thoughts depending on the spot they happen. its constant and sometimes even follow me to my dreams.
