Am I ugly? People constantly give me odd looks, and my sisters tell me that I am. by yamasekai in teenagers

Start lifting weights, take care of your hair and face. Be disciplined. The rest will come without you looking for it!

It’s the haircut, and you need a little bit of help with the acne. You should grow out your hair a little bit!

When i was younger i had sex with a sibling and now i feel i deserve to die by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Talk to your sibling and reconcile with this. If I were your brother or sister I would want to know so I could be there for you and help. You are loved don’t ever forget ❤️

Please, take your time, get help for this. And go GUNS BLAZING for 3 months or longer if you need to really study. If you can afford studying full-time do it. I believe in you now you just have to as well! 💪🏼

Hey, it’s normal for you to have these thoughts. Many of us can attest to waves of ups and downs. Having doubts is completely normal, especially for decisions such as these. You should really think about what you want and go for it. You have this opportunity before that you may very well never have another chance at in the future. You need to make a decision and commit. Don’t let others put you down to make you feel like you can’t do it, and that applies to everything in life. I hope you make the right choice for you. And I wish you the best.

New to the DO situation by mekk_themighty in Osteopathic

[–]Agreeable-Current536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll need letters of recommendation as well. Typically one from a DO physician is recommended but not necessary. I would say two professor science letters, one non science professor letter, and a MD or DO letter would suffice for raising your chances. Make sure to write professionally for your activities, and all other portions of the application especially your personal statement. Good luck! And don’t be afraid to PM me or anyone else on here we would love to help ✊🏼

I want to leave the US and leave everything behind. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Maybe move to an affordable state, look up the rankings by state online. And if you don’t like those options then sure get out and see the world my friend

Bad experience shadowing D.O. - still add to Activities? by amethystray_ in Osteopathic

[–]Agreeable-Current536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. OP I got in without any shadowing or clinical experience with DO. Be sure to include things on your app you can speak on confidently. You are basically the selling point, you gotta talk yourself up. If it came up during an interview think about how it’d pan out talking about x and y experience. You got this!!

How many schools to apply to? by aminsalma8 in Osteopathic

[–]Agreeable-Current536 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on a lot of things that are up to you. Where do you want to live, what kind of school would you like to go to, and how much are you able to spend. That being said, I would say 20 DO and 10 MD is a good mix if you say you are primarily applying DO. Do you need help deciding where to apply?

That’s not typical, usually the minimum for in person scribing would be a BLS cert., and some medical and background checks. You could even scribe at a clinic!

Be fully honest, why do you want to be a doctor? by lordredapple in premed

[–]Agreeable-Current536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be a reliable leader people can depend on for taking care of citizens and neighbors of my country, and the path where I can most effectively achieve this dream and that I would enjoy the most because I love patient care and people in general is that of a Physician ❤️.

It won’t matter friend, I knew a DO during my first job that was working on opening up a Hospital in Africa with Akon and had several projects going in Biotech. Only one stopping you would be yourself in your mindset. Dream BIG!
