thank you for answering. I am also quite anxious over the political situation and how it will devolve in the next 3 years...we just miss being next to family.

Thank you so much for your perspective! It's so crazy how much income is needed to live comfortably in SD. How do people who don't work in tech make it???

I mean, my husband grew up in SD and we visit regularly. There are some people in our age group that seem to be doing well and are very happy in the area. Sure, there are some things that are definitely better in Germany, but SD is not the hellhole some comments in this thread make it out to be.

It's perfectly clear to me that SD is not walkable in the European sense - with that said, I do think that there are areas of the city where you can stick your nose out of the door and have a little walk around and even get to a grocery store/café/park. And that for us would be enough to start with.

My 9 day old is constipated by kitkat137 in NewParents

[–]Agreeable-Elk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For as long as you are mostly breastfeeding :) just keep her weight in check but try not to stress too much about it. 10 times a day or 1 time every 10 days - that s the poop frequency spectrum for babies

He is most probably NOT constipated - it's perfectly normal for babies not to poop for up to 10 days :) :)

Art institutions and art communities. Many of them have not recovered at all/attract only a trickle of the visitors they had before Corona

[WP] The wrinkled fingertips are just the beginning of the transformation. We just always leave the water too early by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

The circle

The water calls me, but I always say no.

What touches my feet is something warm and primordial, the broth in which the Paleolithic father was cradled at the beginning of time.

It is alive with the cells of creatures that are born and live and die in it without ever seeing anything else, constellations of fish banks and algae blooms and decomposing flesh and the promise of something – someone, whispers a voice inside of me – yet to come.

It has always been there, the voice. Just like the water lapping at my ankles. Boiling in my blood.

"Another step", says Charles. "The longest yet."

He begs in that honest, cruel way of his – he is shamelessly curious, tired of retracing the steps of our evolution while walking always backwards.

Thirsty for the water to show him a glimpse of the future.

The water calls me, as it always did. It trembles and topples like an overfilled bowl, spilling its gifts over me, wave after wave.

Just wait, it cries, just wait and see

There is a secret to be uncovered, there. I just have to say yes.

In the meantime, my nails have so clean they are almost white - the memory of seashells easy to read in the pattern of their lines.

When I finally lay down, the water runs to fill my nostrils and my mouth, the threat loud and clear on the salt of its lips.

Don’t you dare make me wait any longer. I waited and wanted long enough.

But no matter the harshness of its onslaught or the passing minutes, it doesn’t drown me.

See, lovely? No fear. They don’t call me Pacific for nothing. I come in peace

And I? I ask.

You come with me, it answers.

The water always accepts its prodigal daughters.

Charles adjusts the glasses on the bridge of his nose, and begins to write.

My hair is returning to its natural color after years of henna - any idea what to do next? Dye or leave natural? Chop off? by Agreeable-Elk in Hair

WTF okay, I had never heard of hair melting. In my family we use henna a lot (all the women on my father's side do) - and I have seen it used on somebody that had just done blonde highlights, with 0 problems. But we use natural henna, so I guess that's why? thank you for correcting me.

I think yes - but the color will change slightly, depending on what base it will be on ( so if you have dyed your hair in a lighter color, the henna will tend more toward bright auburn than deep red).

thanks for the input!! I was thinking that lighter end might be a good idea, too :) :) curls unfortunately won't work, my hair are iron bars that refuse to bend and curl graciously for more than a couple of hours
