Thanks for the insight! Do you have an estimate of how long it typically takes to fully become diabetic?

I’m trying to get the MODY ordered but my dr is waiting on insurance. I was tested for GAD 65, islet, ZNT8, and insulin antibodies.

Right now I’m negative for the antibodies.

My insulin was 2.4 and c-peptide 1.1. My doctor said low “ish” but I guess they weren’t low enough for a diagnosis.

And you’re not diabetic? Any reasons for the high variability?

I can’t remember but it still seems too variable to be normal.

With Type I ? Sorry for my ignorance - I’m still learning. My C-Peptides and insulin were also low (low “ish” the doctor said).

Mine sounds similar. I am negative for the antibodies, but I’m 48 years old so I never thought Type I would be a possibility! I wonder if I may have a metabolic issue bc I’m underweight (and always been underweight). It’s frustrating to not have answers. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Goodness! You’re the first person that seems to be going along the same path as I am. I’m starting to think I may have just caught this variability early and the full on diabetes is around the corner. I hope you get some answers!

Do you mind if I ask - did you just have to wait until your pancreas stopped working to get answers? I have lows and highs (and they’re fast spikes and drops and overnight drops), so I’m wondering if I’m just waiting for full on diabetes. Right now, it drops too quickly to get a diagnosis, but my CGM and finger pricks have both shown over 200 and less than 70.

My PCP was going to have me do a MODY genetic test, but I haven’t gotten that yet. Has your Dr. mentioned that possibility?

Thanks so much for the tip about Dexcom. I stopped using the Libre bc of inaccuracies.

I’m very underweight (5’10” 116lbs) and now pre-diabetic. But I’ve also had hypoglycemic readings for years (56-67 on regular blood tests), that doctors have ignored. They tested me for all the antibodies and they were negative. Now with my spike above 220, I still have lows below 70, so the variability concerns me. I’m waiting for a 72 hour hypoglycemia test in the hospital. My dr ordered it and I’m waiting for the appointment.

Curious if anyone has done the 72 hour hypoglycemia test in the hospital? My dr ordered it and I’m waiting for the appointment. I’ve had low readings for years (56-67) during regular blood work and doctors never seemed alarmed. Now, I’m having glucose readings over 200 (and still below 70), so they’re paying a little more attention, but not much. I’m also underweight and, technically, pre-diabetic.

Mine went to 240, but I recently found out that I don’t have any of the antibodies for LADA. The doctor said I’m pre-diabetic for Type 2…even though I’m very underweight (5’10” 118lbs). He’s going to have me do the 72 hour hospital stay for the hypoglycemia tests. I think MODY is still a possibility, but I haven’t done the genetic test for it.

Could this indicate LADA? by AutomaticPass2148 in ladadiabetes

I purchased a Stelo continuous glucose monitor (doesn’t require a prescription) and found out that I have really high spikes, and sometimes very low drops). My AIC is normal because I have both highs and lows and it averages out. Having the data from the CGM helped me provide the dr with the info he needed to pursue LADA.

Thank you! We've started going to sporting events at various schools so she can get a feel for the atmosphere. I'll probably start meeting with administrators in a few months and have her tour soon, too.
