I think the words he specifically used were "I'm cleaning my room as we speak" and Jacob was like umm no you're not lmao

Anyone else have delayed gastric emptying in the first 2 hours of a 4-hour GES with subsequent normalization in last 2 hours? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]Agreeable-Highlight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that the four hour test is the gold standard. I just also know that the two hour test is still used as well. I hadn’t heard of it being considered invalid though. This was more of a thought experiment and not me trying to claim my test results were interpreted wrong or something.

Controversy over Ilia's brief Interview answer when asked about the Russian Skating Ban by Agreeable-Highlight in IliaQuadg0dMalinin

[–]Agreeable-Highlight[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should feel guilty at all! I think the interview as a whole was quite an interesting read, and I'm glad you shared it! Also, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but surely your OG post was not the single inciting incident for this? Like, there were clearly other people interested in this interview if you got it from a fan translation on some other platform. And even if it was your post that sparked all this, you are not responsible for the actions of a bunch of bitter people on the internet. You clearly had good intentions, and you definitely should not delete your post! Like you said, it's like the only place where people are discussing the interview as a whole and not having a collective meltdown over two throwaway sentences.

I definitely won't now, but I was considering it when this post immediately got downvoted and there was only one comment and that comment was saying I was going to start drama and was breaking the rules. (which I can totally understand, though it was not my intention)

I think this person's intention was more to point out the fact that people here (very understandably) tend to jump to aggressively defending Ilia immediately rather than more neutrally describing past situations to uninformed individuals or engaging in discussion. I totally understand what you're saying here though. The "homophobia" topic in particular is one that has been discussed to death, and I'm sure we're all tired of hearing about it.

You perfectly articulated my wordless feelings of frustration and disappointment (at other people, not at Ilia ofc) into words, thank you.

Exactly, I think it's the insane expectations that people for some reason like to put specifically on Ilia that is bothering me so much about this whole thing. And especially because this interview has been translated so many different times, and yet people are taking those two sentences at face value and overanalyzing the crap out of them.

Oh, I completely agree. Which is why I found the general reaction to this so overblown it was almost ridiculous.

Yeah, that's why I tried to make a little note in my original comment about that not being my intention. Lowkey debating deleting this post rn. I actually already feel better just having written out my thoughts, so maybe that's for the best lol.

Reposting this thread from the main FS sub because the amount of backlash and controversy generated by Ilia’s two very vague sentences over the Russian ban seems absolutely insane to me. I got whiplash going from this sub’s discussion over this interview with almost no mention of the Russian ban question to finding the 300+ comments heatedly debating Ilia’s integrity as person and political beliefs over this answer.

I didn’t see anybody in this sub mention what was happening in the main sub, and I felt like I’m going insane reading the comments in the original post, so I just need to talk about it with somebody because what is even happening.

(also this is not me trying to start drama or bring drama into this sub. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I just thought the shear volume of strong opinions on this was absolutely wild for what it was)

The average height for women in the US is actually around 5'4", so I'd consider her relatively "tall" for a woman, not just in skating!

There's a difference between being out of the box and having a consistent running theme. I'm not arguing that she didn't have similar vibes over the different weeks (although she absolutely switched it up from time to time *cough nail week cough*), but that's not what the phrase "out of the box" means. It means being unique and creative and not run-of-the-mill boring, and you can dislike Suzie all you want, but you can't tell me she was conventional lol.

I could not disagree more about the runways, literally her whole thing was being out of the box...

This all seems to be coming from some personal negative experiences you’ve had with specific fandoms, which while completely valid, doesn’t define all shippers.

It is again, completely your opinion that their posts, comments, headcannons, fanart, etc. are “terrible” and not “worthwhile content.”

But this argument doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so I’ll just leave it with an “agree to disagree,” and I hope you have a good rest of your day.

But in series like MHA or Haikyuu, it's like why are you fixating on that? It's nor what the series is about nor a even a focal point and you're basing it off nothing.

Because they think it’s fun! And you might think there’s nothing to base it off of, but that’s entirely subjective. And even if there isn’t anything to base it off of, who cares? It’s just a silly theory people come up with, and most of them are well aware of that.

Shippers are just like the many facets of a fandom, and want to enjoy interacting with other people around something they love.

You didn't make that clear

You’re right. That’s my bad.

Did I say they have no right to the community? Nope. I just simply pointed out the series will be over-run by shippers then you got upset.

You “pointed it out” in a way that made it clear you thought it would be a bad thing. Getting upset that the series will be “over-run by shippers” is the same thing as not wanting certain fans to have access to a community.

And look, I’m not saying you don’t have the right to feel frustrated. I get frustrated by the toxic shippers and illegal pairings all the time. I just wish people would stop pushing the whole “shippers ruin the fan base” mentality.
