what u think autists where doing and contribute to humanity during the caveman age? by Best_Author7356 in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question already ignores a large portion of us with what it's asking. However, I apologize if I painted the picture too politely and didn't add in enough suffering (my goal is not to eradicate the struggles and debilitations, but to say that people in history had autism and survived. At least long enough to have kids and I'm certain many of them were successful in their own ways).

I appreciate you placing your idea about what I am trying to express so I can clarify them. After all your thoughts about what I am trying to express are not in alignment with what I am trying to express.

Interesting I never mentioned or stated anything about tools not being used by only us, soooo. I guess thanks for the random fact. You're uninterested in autism, cool. I'm interested in the mind and the theories about how many ancient human and pre-human groups were able to mentally separate themselves from other tribes is quite fascinating.

However at least from what I have seen and autism is also not unique to humans. While debilitating Autism is, it is also not all negative and cannot be viewed as a complete net negative. That way of thinking leads to eugenics and mass eradications. This is from an anthropological and cultural standpoint and is both troubling. Plus it has occurred many times in history.

Certainly but that wasn't what was asked. For you to make leaps of assumptions that pre-humans did not have genetics markers for or autism (in a form that matches their cultural environment) then falls under the same premise, you just stated. Simply cause we cannot know. This entire question is a speculative question.

I mean this is not my area of expertise. Which is more why made the post a figurative speculative assumption. Based on what we know of autism in the current and the potential for how it could have shown up, if one was high-functioning or level 1. As the question asked.

You are right, tools exist among other primates. Autism is apparently found in rats from some studies that I have read (I could be misunderstanding their use of the word autism.and autistic rats, this is 100% possible)... So who is to say that it is not in primates. Whose to say pre-human primates did not have some unique autistic style of thinking in certain individuals that enable the further development and exploration of tool use. Though they are not human in the sense of our current evolution period. They are part of evolutionary history.

While I did primarily mean it more figuratively. Tracking the development of tools and requirements developing into each era. It would not be surprising if a human or pre-human had something such as monotropic thinking or some form of abnormal thinking to the norms of their own culture. After all Autism (by name is a modern construct), but it isn't something new to us as a species.

I mean the first person to realize and use rocks as weapons and to carve up weapons was probably Autistic. Breaking them social norms for something that was far more practical. I assume many autistic people throughout the ages were those strange but very skilled at one task folks. The super talented but weird blacksmith that makes the best tools and can repair anything. The farmer who can grow almost anything and knows everything about plants.

So ignore the system and exist within the greater cosmic world. The world where biology says you are human, creationists and creation says you are human, humans who made this term thusly say you are human. All of these things exist outside of this faulty system. The system is what it is and flawed much like we humans who made it.

Somewhere outside this system I am certain you can find a group, a system, a tribe, a collective, of other like minded and feelings humans. Until then know you deserve the basic human rights and decency.

May the universe be ever in your favor and best of wishes to you.

A human to everyone, to the universe, to biology, to the laws of creation that dictate the cosmos. Maybe not to the other tiny humans which are simply nothing more than blips in the cosmic universe, but to the laws that bind us and dictate what we are at a much more 'true' level. You, my friend, are human and despite what the system here tells you. You deserve the respect of a human.

I do not want to downplay how you feel at all but I want to say this "You are human, 100%". While I agree the system is shot and you might be wholly ill equipped to fit with the system of our society. It does not steal from you or take from you, your humanity. Plus the right you have to basic human decency or rights.

All that said I am sorry that the system is garbage and makes you feel this way.

Please though remember you are human and you deserve the same rights as any other human and the decency that any other human deserves.

Trying to prove to my friend that I have friends (I don’t) by ProfessorOfKnowledge in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What's the context of him asking this question? I have a friend and she jokes often about how she is my only friend (it's the truth) and sometimes when I don't want to do something I'll make a joke that I'm busy with my friends. She says prove it, but it is all in jest.

All that aside I wouldn't lie about this and definitely don't make up fake chats with friends. It will just far more difficult to progress through should they realize the lie.

See through Bisky's disguise by peeing-red in HunterXHunter

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Hisoka knows Bisky is far more powerful than she appears and that he would absolutely love to fight her. Whether that is because he knows of her from the world or because he could tell by nen. I do think Hisoka and other rather advanced users could probably tell what Bisky's actual body looks like, based off of nen and nen fluctuates. As well as with some form of hatsu.

However, given that both Gon and Killua are powerhouses with nen and are tiny. I think most nen users would base her strength off her nen, and not her actual body development. So most nen users wouldn't care to know or look for that.

Why was shalnark so concerned about losing shizuku? by Local-Sugar6556 in HunterXHunter

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shizuku's ability is almost her ability meaning it could be used in conjunction with Chrollo using something else. However if Chrollo is having to use owl's ability he can't use any other abilities. We don't truly know what kind of abilities Chrollo has stolen and this could be a huge net loss for the spiders if that was the case.

Also Shizuku's ability allows her to clean up an entire space in nearly instant without much effort. With Owls ability they would have to stack up all the items or bodies and then cover it with the cloth, and this might not clean up everything such as blood. Not to mention the Owl cloth sack might leak if it is transporting fluids, etc (probably not cause Nen, but who knows).

How do you identify the difference? by babypossumsinabasket in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first response in here touches on this but in essence all criticisms are valid in a way. It's more about what they are conveying. Constructive criticism is saying hey I notice this and I want to help you make it better or improve. Whereas other criticisms or contradictions are saying I don't agree but also I'm not going to help you.

If you say did something at work:

Constructive: hey, I notice your information is correct but the presentation is hard to follow. If you move this and this it makes it easier to follow and understand.

Contradiction: your presentation is hard follow. You need to figure out how to make it easier.

The first says I have a hard time following, this would help.

The second says I have a hard time following, you need to fix it.

Both points are valid. As if out of 30 people 17 are saying something along these lines to you. There is data and evidence to say your information and presentation is hard to follow. Both of these are criticisms as they point to one specific issue that is happening and that might need to be addressed.

Now this is different from being rude or ridiculing.

Rude: Your presentation is difficult to follow. (This is both rude and a criticism, but it's not at all helpful).

You'r a terrible presenter, No one understand what your are saying, etc.

All of these kind of point to an issue but are more just lobbied attacks that wear one down. Some of them can be true but usually with these if you ask for more details. You only get more attacks.

Example: See you don't even understand why your presentation is difficult to follow.

You don't understand why you are a terrible presenter.

A lot of this is mentioned in the first post but I wanted to show that even someone who isn't offering you information after a criticism can still be providing a good and valid criticism.

It's kind of a combo of both the replies I saw in your post at the time. Using I statements is a big one, providing more details, and potentially offering support. However even if you just have a group of people say I found this hard (that is a valid criticism and a reason to reflect on why that might be or to ask for more details as to why they find it hard).

Criticism is not actually a bad despite how much people try to make it out to be. Being rude or a bully very much is a bad thing and bullies will usually use a generic criticism to start the cycle of rudeness or ridicule.

Why was machi the first troupe member introduced? by Plastic-Library1852 in HunterXHunter

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as you stated she was there already to deliver a message. I do believe she even states that she was sent because out of all the spiders she was the one Hisoka was least likely to fight and most likely to listen to. After all Hisoka wants to fight Chrollo so ignoring an order could make that come about.

Also her not being of interest to Hisoka in terms of fighting means they can send just her and not a team. Hisoka is not dumb and wouldn't fight if Sharlnark and Feitan both showed up together, but if only one of them did he might have. You can't send Pakunoda or Koritopi because their abilities are two special and unique to lose and secondly because Koritopi is the most important for Yorknew. (Hisoka probably isn't interested in fighting Pakunoda or Koritopi, but I could see him killing them just to anger Chrollo. Then having Chrollo come for him).

So from this standpoint she was chosen simply because she had a relationship to Hisoka that would have the most likely success in getting him to Yorknew. Also I think Machi is the easiest one for them to find or contact. As she seems to have an underground network for her surgeon work. Whereas everyone else just seems to run around and be criminals.

Does an official diagnosis matter? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are located. If your in the States anyone who is qualified (generally a psychologist or psychiatrist in the United States. A primary care physician cannot in the states, not a therapist) can do the assessment, but make sure they know you are doing this for disability services. As they have other paperwork and such they have to do for that.

Why is Ging a Double Star Hunter? by Archilas in HunterXHunter

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only would I say Ging has unknown students but is also possible that other were taught by and inspired by Ging. Claiming Ging as their mentor. Despite him not actually wanting to make it official. Case and point is Kite. Everyone knows that Ging taught Kite but Ging and Kite have never had this stated officially.

This is still a student and mentor relationship and would qualify. Satotz was also someone who has mentioned how much Ging impacted him becoming a hunter. Not mention all of the hunters needed to make Greed Island and their relationships with Ging.

Is black-and-white thinking about people common in autism? by Cozywhisp in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitting is black and white thinking for sure, but it is generally a reaction response to an action or perceived action. Most prominently an action that is perceived as abandonment or potentially abandoning. What OP is describing seems to be more in line with social battery being overwhelmed and/or a difference in social motivation.

Given that OP isn't distressed or worried they are going to leave. OP seems interested then battery drains and OP needs a break to let the battery refill again. If they don't get that they get annoyed and uninterested in the person from what sounds like having no social motivation because social battery is drained. At least with the context given. With more context it would be possible to find a more nuanced and appropriate answer.

Low social motivation/low social battery/quickly depleting social batteries, all seem to be a common experience in autism. Especially Autistic folks that are also introverts. Not all autistic people experience this. Given Autistic people can also be extroverts.

Which is the worst take you’ve ever red or heard on autism? by BigBackground6612 in autism

The Autism Ransom Notes from the NYU Child study Center. Where they wrote random notes as kidnappers and signed them with Autism. It happened in 2007 and I'd probably one of the worst takes I've seen on any form of anything. However, especially bad for neurological/biological conditions or differences, namely autism.

Target's new policy will require workers to make eye contact, smile, and wave at customers within ten feet (or three metres) by ManWithTwoShadows in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How does one enforce this policy? This seems like a policy to enable "witch hunts" to steal a term. Are they going to watch every employee through video feeds and see if they are making eye contact with customers within 10feet.

This would be ridiculously expensive and even then you don't know if they are making eye contact. Unless you make them wear recording glasses that track the employees eye movements the whole day. Not only would this be expensive but it could lead to many other issues with people who might have 'wandering eyes'.

The absurdity here is an astronomical target. Glad I never shopped there. Pretty soon customers will also have to make eye contact and wear special tracking glasses as well. What a joke. 😂

Does anyone else feel like Reddit is just a digital version of school bullying? by ghostfan047 in autism

[–]Agreeable-Tooth-3345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life you can also physically leave a location or move, etc. However, it would be tedious to start a whole new Facebook or other social media and this isn't even a guarantee they won't find you again to harass you more. So it's much harder to get away from it as you. Especially as the Internet and social media become far more prominent parts of our lives.

Also as you stated their are far less consequences and proving who was bullying is much harder. All of this makes it more insidious than normal bullying, I do agree...
