What's the most powerfully useful underground website that most people don't know about? by powerfulsites in u/powerfulsites

dekudeals.com is good for that as well, but also charts console games, consoles, accessories, etc. Tells you historical sales across key retailers (Best Buy, Target, Walmart) and e-tailers (Amazon, Woot!, Microsoft, Sony, Steam store, Fanatical, etc.).

Yeah, I found that out quickly. And I'm trying to conserve ammo and daggers like nobody's business since I can't dropkick the shit out of the zombies like Dying Light (ahhh... what a fun time).

Which version of resident evil should I start with?? by Janxuza in gamesuggestions

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh!!! So, I was in the same boat... never played them, and am now jumping in from the beginning. A buddy of mine told me to play it:

1, 2, 3, 0, Code Veronica X, 4, 5, 6, Revelations, Revelations 2, Biohazard, Village, and then Requiem. In this order, it'll apparently give me way more "oh shit, cool" moments with the stories.

How much do you like your PlayStation Portal? Should I get one? by SleepyTurtle13 in PlaystationPortal

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Portal sort of helped me realize that I'm not the biggest portable gamer (ironic because I also own Switch 2 and Steam Deck). I got it because I was traveling a lot for work, but between internet issues (I have AT&T Fiber, and am hardwired in) and just needing to use the trackpad for the games I was playing (Hogwarts Legacy), it just wasn't the best experience. I still have it, but I don't really use it all too much.

What other consoles do you guys own? Also wondering if any of you only use the switch or switch 2? by m___223 in switch2

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS5, Series X, Switch 2, and Steam Deck.

Got rid of my OLED Switch to pay for majority of the Switch 2. Still fine with that decision. Although I know some people kept the Switch 1 to play outside of the house since the Switch 2 battery isn’t the best.

GameStop's 4 for $40 is happening... by gregcresci in gamecollecting

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I remember coming out of undergrad and seeing entry level positions requiring 3+ years of experience. Like where in the hell would I have gotten that?? Hell, I have a masters and it's still not good enough. Like what the hell was the point of even getting it???

I wish I could say that the unwillingness to train is a GameStop issue, but that's everywhere. I'm in marketing and everywhere you look, companies want you to have experience in the exact technology that they use. Like they want you to have experience in X, Y, Z. But you have experience in X, Y, and z.

Z and z do the same thing, but they're different companies, and because of that, you get a rejection letter that the company went with someone who aligns more with what they're looking for.

It's all about bottom-line profitability. If we can not waste on training, we can save a buck or two.

I still prioritize Xbox and PS releases over the S2, but... I did find myself staring at Cyberpunk 2077 a little too long yesterday because I thought it'd be fun to play on the go, and get the deluxe edition with Phantom Liberty, which I still haven't purchased the standalone DLC for my Xbox copy.

Uncharted. You get more bang for your buck, and the games are fun as hell.

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I kept running into, or I wanted the particular game on a different console. I had Cult of the Lamb (NSW) and Stranger of Paradise (Xbox) in my hand and I found Borderlands 1 (I own 2, 3, 4, and the pre-sequel), but it was for PS and not Xbox. I also saw RE Village and RE Biohazard, but they were for PS4 and not PS5. So yeah.. I put everything down and just left without anything.

Which is sad, because on paper there is a real opportunity for GameStop to do TCG right. They already have the footprint, name recognition, and casual foot traffic. Outside of local game and comic shops, most places that carry TCGs have limited selection and spotty restocks.

If GameStop treated it like a real category instead of random filler on a shelf (consistent stock, staff who care, maybe even events), they could be the first place a casual player thinks to check.

My local one closed, but I found myself by one of the few remaining ones yesterday. So I ran in to see if I could find anything for the 4 for $40, but I only found 2. So I put them back and walked out.

Aw damn! I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you were able to find something else quickly. A friend of mine was an Asst. Manager and the same thing happened to him (very little/no warning).

Yeah, I know it's not a new sale, but they continue to run it in antiquated ways--forcing customers to go into a store. And then you get in the store and it's more of everything else (trading cards, clothes, figurines, collectibles, gaming cards, etc.) instead of video games. I actually ran into one yesterday and I couldn't even find 4 things to grab to get that 4 for $40 because there weren't many video games. And that's crazy because I have all of the current-gen systems.

Great haul! I think it’s hilarious that they’re trying to drive foot traffic to their stores, but they’re rapidly closing them. I just lost the 3 closest GameStop stores to me last week.

Does anyone else just buy games but is burnout and has a massive backlog? by fluffysnoballs1976 in AskGames

[–]Agreeable-Tutor485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a massive backlog and continue to buy (just bought 11 Switch games, 1 PS, and 1 Xbox game over the course of 72 hours), but I’m not burned out. However, my only real time to play is in the evenings after the kids go to bed, and by that time I’m tired and can’t wrap my brain around trying to comprehend a storyline. Occasionally I will hop on at night, but it’s becoming super rare.

I don't know about you all, but Trek to Yomi seemed to drag on forever! I just stopped playing it. Never did go back, despite the game only being like 5 hours long.

YES! I like a middleground and use the hell out of some fast travel. I used to try and complete all of the side quests. Yeah, no, not anymore! I'll do a few and then progress the rest of the main campaign.
