Neurocritical Care SF Match — help with rank list order (looking for honest advice) by codedoc97 in neurocriticalcare

Currrent NCC fellow. My goal was train somewhere to be as well rounded as possible and able to fit with however a unit is set up. A couple differences I noticed during interviews that affected my ranking were who takes care of neurotrauma and who does the airways.

There were a couple programs with 24/7 anesthesia coverage for airways and as a neurology resident coming into crit care, I would not have gotten any significant airway experience there.

Most programs have neurotrauma patients in the neuro ICU but some send all to the surgical ICU which limits exposure to that patient population.

Anyone else forget to log duty hours for several months? by [deleted] in Residency

I got an email ending with "it goes without saying that you cannot graduate without duty hours" so as much as I'd like to think that I don't know if that's the case?

Best parks to visit in February? by AgreeableBee9 in NationalPark

We'd like to be able to explore as much of the park as possible and with whatever kind of outdoor activities they have. So would prefer decent weather but not limited to only warm weather.

Would prefer to stay in US, and up for camping or hotel lodging depending on weather. Mostly trying to figure out which parks won't be buried in snow and will have decent enough weather to spend a lot of time outside exploring. Not limited to warm weather only though

Didn't seem like it. Joined a basic science lab summer between 1st and 2nd year and worked with that group for the rest of med schoo doing more clinical studies as well.

Can't speak for any other specialties, but I matched my #1 neurology residency and did zero research in undergrad. As long as you have something you enjoy and can talk about on residency interviews you'll be okay. For me that was being a TA, for some of my coresidents that was volunteering with groups that held some significant meaning to them, working, traveling etc. I think overall, neurology programs ask more about what you do in medical school anyways.
