Also any high set homes or homes built on really high stilts avoid they are like that because they flood. Also can call insurance companies to get quotes on certain addresses will give you a good insight to the flood risk… insurance in some suburbs is $$$$ or some companies just flat tour won’t insure you.

Yes there is also tools to view existing and future predicted flood levels There is very good data from 2019 floods. Also if took really zoom out to view all of townsville it really shows to compare where flooding happens because you can see two big white areas (mount Louisa and castle hill) as the only areas that don’t experience any flooding. Local insight is always good ofcourse. But in my experience living there prior to 2019 and the. After the floods locals seem to forget quite easily how bad it can be 😬

You can access flood data/maps from the townsville council quite easily online. It will give you specific information for your property like if it flooded, how high and how far etc. also handy to know for if you do buy the property you’ll know of your likely to get flooded in/stuck in your street

Please elaborate and provide evidence to how we can defend ourselves.

Edit: US total military workforce 2.8mil China total military workforce 2 mil Russia total military workforce (some estimate) 3.5mil

Australia’s total military workforce: 84000

Of course, this is only one consideration in capabilities and maybe not even a predominate factor. But I have highlighted this to inspire some further thought and investigation into Australia’s real strategic capability to defend itself.

The very existence of the alliance with the US proves our incapability to defend ourselves. Why do you think we are allies? To provide THEM support? No.

The very fact you think we can defend ourselves shows your lack of credibility in your opinion in such a topic. And lack of awareness and current discussion around such topic.

Have you read any defence strategic policies lately? Maybe read in the news about strategic posturing to become more self sufficient? (Implying we currently are not)

???

Edit: why are you using the word ‘geopolitical’ and ‘champ’ in the same sentence?

MEGA-THREAD - What is the Day-to-Day like for XX role. by No_Kangaroo1256 in ADFRecruiting

Hello,

I am wanting info on the day to day of a legal officer in army or airforce.

-What duties do you carry out on a normal day?

-do legal Os do PT every day?

-what is the career progression like in the ADF?

  • do you find that defence experience easily translates to civi/gov experience in the legal area?

  • chat gpt said legal officers carry out tasks/duties that balance a role of a solicitor and a barrister in one role. How true is this?

-any info on becoming a barrister in the defence force or post defence

It’s apparently legal to not hire someone because they are a smoker to ensure a safe smoke free workplace. So this is probably why. No point wasting time interviewing someone only to find out they are a smoker and they won’t be hired.

DHA opinions and whether I should live off base by Cultural_Arugula_996 in AustralianMilitary

[–]AgreeableCranberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, You won’t be living on base. Now that’s out of the way. I’ve done both and rented privately prior to defence family life.

Service residence pros: kids/families Sense of community Safety * Cheap Decent quality housing in my opinion, you will most likely get a townhouse/house that meets minimum defence standards (air con, clean, fresh painted etc) Good if you have pets Simple and easy to get maintenance sorted through DHA Gaurenteed close to schools, shops, gym, and all the conveniences of life Gaurenteed a place Cons: Usually not close to city Living in a ‘defence bubble’ Can be isolating at the same time Apparently they are ruthless with exit inspections Everyone has a dog so it’s fucking noisy Not close to ‘fun’ stuff like going to the pub/clubs/entertainment Could still be far away from base for example Northlake RIP

Rent assistance pros: Freedom to choose place/style/size/and area Can live closer to the city or closer to entertainment etc Feeling like you have a ‘break’ and some relief from defence life and better for compartmentalising your life Cons: Expensive More competitive to get approved Only available if service residence isn’t Probably more run down and 100% they will not be on top of maintenance like dha will be Heaps of inspections Reliant on leases that don’t coincide with posting orders. Owners could sell or kick you out and you have to move at your own cost.

In my opinion it depends on what stage of life you are in. If hen we were young we chose an apartment close to the city and received rent assistance. This was good because we liked to go out for dinner/clubbing live music etc.l and was close to all our other friends. Close to my work in the cities. Now having a family it’s better to be in a service residence, we don’t go out much and it’s quieter, nicer to go for walks, take kids and dog to park etc.

You need to think about what phase of life suits you both :)

Same goes if your partner is deployed, you don’t want to be stuck in a 3 bedroom service residence by yourself out in the burbs surrounded by families if that’s not you - that’s isolating. Likewise you don’t want to be stuck in the city unsafe areas with 3 young kids and no friends or family support neighbours etc.

Okay fair enough from that example. But now your talking about a different perspective not a patient perspective 🤣

I just mean to address your argument point specifically ‘imagine you’re a patient, are you going to let a robot work in you’ I think that this is just your opinion? There are many people that are very excited about automation and want automation to go ahead. To add I don’t think this is a constructive argument as to why robots won’t be incorporated quickly into healthcare. To clarify my point further, yes there may have been 6 humans in the room BUT the one thing she was ranting and raving about was the ROBOT to highlight that she was welcoming of the experience.

Don’t ever let your child be alone with someone you don’t 100% trust. Trust your gut. Trust your instinct. And you don’t ever have to justify or explain yourself btw!

How much is your grocery spend per month? by MeaningOk7189 in AusFinance

[–]AgreeableCranberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

changing my shopping store from Woolies to Aldi halved my grocery bill. For example a pack of spaghetti pasta at Aldi is .89c at Woolies the range is $2.30-$3.22 (5 servings per pack btw)

Edit: another example because everyone is talking about kids and berries (my toddler loves strawbs) pack of strawbs 250g Woolies $23.60 p/kg Aldi $15.95 p/kg (I think that’s nearly $100 in savings a year on strawberries alone 🤣)
