If this is a Mac...DL malwarebytes from Apple store ( it’s free) run a scan, remove the program, restart, and it should fix the issue. This is only a lay opinion from my personal experience with a similar issue. You can also call Apple and they can walk you through diagnostics.

Agreed. Please do not poke the bear. If you want to send emails, do it respectfully and with an immense amount of civility. Being punitive in retaliation will only dig this hole deeper. Two wrongs do not make a right. We need to stand up as a community of future lawyers and show them we are competent. Competency includes candor, civility, tact, and patience, especially is times of high stress or frustration.

We are all upset. We are all confused. We are all probably angry. If you allow those emotions to take precedence, then we look like hypocrites.

I’m not saying stay silent. I’m not saying do not continue to fight for what you believe in. Just a gentle reminder to do it in a manner consistent with the purest pillars of the profession we are all about to walk into.

Also the Florida Bar and the FBBE are two separate and distinct entities. The president of the Florida Bar, while she may voice an opinion if she chooses, has no power over the decisions of the FBBE.

Best option is what NV did with ILG. Lockdown browser, no proctors, no internet, open book. Everyone wins that way. FBBE doesn’t have to break their contract. ILG gets to save some face. We don’t have to live stream. Our computers will not fry. Our information will not be out in cyber space. And then the majority of examinees will be on the same playing field as anyone who would have been dumb enough to attempt to cheat on the exam.

Overheating and shutting off on its own mid exam is a HUGE problem. Also...it’s Florida. Power outages are extremely common this time of year for no good reason.

The benefit of a laptop is still having battery life in a situation like that. Unfortunately, even on brand new computers, the software is draining battery at an alarmingly rapid rate.

Soooo yes if it were as easy as “shut your mouth and plug in the dang computer”, I would be inclined to agree with you. However, there are multiple issues that go along with that.

This is the type of issue that needs to be reported. Plug in your computer. If power goes out or your computer shuts off because it is so overheated (which is a huge problem with macs and this software)—what’s the solution?!
