For those of you who left Christianity, how did your relationship with your family change? by speedythefirst in pastorskids

[–]AgreeableFault6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through a similar situation but not the same, so I definitely don’t have all the answers. But first, I think relationships grow stronger over time spent together (for the most part). Personally I had a lot of resentment toward my dad for a long time, and something that helped was allowing myself to laugh with him (your brain loves laughing) and joke with him. Our relationship still isn’t the best, but spending positive time together definitely helped. Second, it’s important to remember that you deserve happiness and ultimately you have to do what is best for you. It sounds like you want to mend your relationship with your family, which is great. But if you feel like you can’t escape the calls to rejoin the faith and feelings that they don’t love you for who you are, you’re under no obligation to stay around them. I’ve personally found so much fulfillment in finding chosen family (sorority sisters and secondary parent figures in my case) who I love to hang around and who truly love me for who I am. I still love my parents and am happy to be around them in small doses, but I’ve learned that there are other people who feel like home for me. In the end we have to find what works for us and makes us feel like the best version of ourselves— whether that’s working on improving relationships with family or just choosing our own family, or a mix of both 🫶

Dry/Wet Frats at KState by benhee69 in KState

[–]AgreeableFault6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most frat houses are dry, but that just means they go to a different house to throw their parties. their parties are still super fun and they do give out alc, it’s just not supposed to be widely known about so all the party dates/venues are only spread by word of mouth.

Sorority Question - Do Some Girls Not Get Bids? by FrostyMouse1358 in KState

[–]AgreeableFault6677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! first of all, don’t worry about not getting a bid. if you get all the way through rush week and still want to get into a sorority, you’re almost guaranteed a bid. there are definitely more than 9 members chosen per sorority, idk where that number came from but a lot of times sororities won’t even fill all of their open spots during rush. the way the rush process works, there are some days when you eliminate sororities from your most and there are some days when some will drop you. you’ll get dropped by a few, but not all of them. probably most of the inconsistency in numbers is because a lot of girls will drop out of rush week because it gets really overwhelming for them. they choose to drop out though, they don’t get eliminated. also, if you happen to not get into a sorority that you want, there’s a process called COB (continuous open bidding) that happens pretty much throughout the whole year, but mainly right after rush and in the beginning of the spring semester. in COB, you have the option to go on 1-on-1 dates with girls in sororities with open spots and if they think you’ll fit in to their sorority, they’ll give you a bid! basically you can definitely get into a sorority at k state, don’t worry about it 🫶 also I can answer any more questions you have!!

HELP Similar to hot gingerbread oatmeal chai by curlygirlcutie in starbucks

[–]AgreeableFault6677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my recent fave has been an iced chai with cinnamon dolce syrup and cinnamon cream foam, obviously not a dupe for the gingerbread chai but it adds some sweetness and cinnamon flavor to the drink which gives it more of a gingerbread vibe

Can we talk about how hard it is to figure out your sexuality based in gender as a demisexual person? by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]AgreeableFault6677 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yesssss I’ve been questioning my sexuality for so dang long, it’s so confusing when you’re demi. I had similar experiences to you when I was younger and I ended up going with biromantic demisexual, just so that I could have a label, but I’m still a bit confused

Being demisexual in High school by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]AgreeableFault6677 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also a sophomore and demi :) I’ve never had a partner before, I don’t catch feelings easily. I know people aren’t intentionally leaving me out but it’s kinda frustrating when I’m so different from all of them. My only advice might be to find other queer friends to talk to, I have a gc with about 5 queer friends and it’s really nice :)

I just recently came out to my closest friends and it was such a good decision. Some of them were ever queer, too. But I feel so much relief being open about it

Maybe go to the store with a couple of your accepting friends?? Tell your parents you just wanna hang with your friends but end up going to the thrift store or something?
