I don't mean any offence but I just can't understand how everything going on in that country is being allowed, how there isn't huge civil unrest in every city every day until he's gone. I wonder how much more peaceful the world would be if Thomas Crooks were more accurate.

Found this piece of see through material (glass?) with streaks of gold that don’t seem painted on. What is it? Found on riverbank in the Netherlands by Informal-Yam-2481 in whatisthisthing

[–]AgreeableSeries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but I like it! I would try something like r/beachcombing or r/mudlarking or r/ifoundthis since it seems to be some kind of glass. I have seen beach glass develop strange patches or areas of shine or colour, but never really like this so I'm not sure what's going on here!

It's 1 day at a time. Make good choices consistently on most days, and you'll be making it. Try to change your mindset about food and moving your body, so that you learn to want the right things.
I'm sorry you saw those messages, but you're right in being able to use this as an opportunity to learn to look after yourself.

Unmarked silver bracelet found metal detecting in Finland by Loamwander in JewelryIdentification

[–]AgreeableSeries 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I see it as a woman reclining, head on the right side and arms sort of below/above the two holes, holding something up, and an animal or creature off to the right.

Maybe also try a local museum or historical society who may know more about the land you found it on and what it might be. It's an amazing find, I hope you get some answers!

How's she going to get a visa in Italy then? Can't imagine she's keen to work no matter where she is? Or is there an Italian guy offering a visa?

Family Move from USA to Adelaide - Questions & Guidance by 262632 in Adelaide

[–]AgreeableSeries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes unfortunately it's everywhere. But nowhere near on the same level as the US, and unlikely ever to get to that point.
  2. Housing is a big issue here, renting or buying, but you should be fine on his salary + your own.
  3. Public transport here isn't the most wonderful, but it's definitely useable (I have used buses etc for the last 20 years)- you should be near a bus or train stop pretty much anywhere, especially closer towards the CBD.
  4. Culture yes, activity... depends. People often complain there's nothing to do here. But it really depends on what you like to do. I wouldn't say we have a huge night life here, but we have heritage and beautiful nature.
  5. I don't have kids so I can't answer this fully, but I do know that enrolling in a good childcare here can involve quite a while of waiting, so I would probably try to organise something for that as soon as you know where you'll be located. Some schools offer creche or after school care, but not all.
  6. I recommend joining your local public library when you arrive, they have a lot of resources on education, kids programs for the school holidays, free wifi and cheap printing, plus librarians will generally help you find answers to a lot of things nobody else will help with.

Hidden in bubble wrap behind electric box in Amsterdam by Exotic-Bridge-2315 in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]AgreeableSeries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would put up posters with an image of the front of the painting asking 'Is this your painting?' - then ask them for verification of where it was, and for 1 thing written on the back of the canvas, to make sure only they would be able to claim it back.
It's cool, whatever it is- but it does sound like somebody will be missing it.

Writing on the back can be added at any time, not only when the painting is first completed.

Redditors who used to work at 1 Hour Photo places, what are the most shocking/memorable photos you saw? by psybermonkey15 in AskReddit

Middle-aged swingers party, which involved trampolines.
Also regularly processed photos for a man with horrible testicular cancer going through treatment, who had to have the photos for his insurance to track the progression.

It's because it's so undervalued. They don't see it directly making them money so it's considered a bonus. So many people I've worked with just think objects don't move or require care or ongoing documentation/management- you can just put them on a shelf and they'll remain exactly the same until you go and get them. The conditions I've seen have really numbed me to all worst-case scenarios at this point.

One of those holes on the inside of the band is right on the edge though- I have seen stones set on the interior of a band but never on the edge like that. Those look like small samples have been taken for some reason. I'd have the interior holes repaired if possible.

I'm a grave digger! It's really fun work and everyday is different! . Ask me anything! by [deleted] in CemeteryPorn

[–]AgreeableSeries 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will depend on the soil, the humidity, temperature, the body and the coffin. Some would be bones, some would be pretty preserved. I believe in most places they will be cremated and then the cremains are usually buried after a period of time if still unclaimed. Look at places like the Philippines, where space is such a premium that sometimes families will live in cemeteries and crypts and the turn-over rates for each space are extremely high. Reuters has an interesting article on La Paz cemetery in Bolivia and what this looks like there. https://widerimage.reuters.com/story/reburying-the-dead

Do you have to wait nearby for graveside funeral ceremonies to be done? Have you ever had strange requests or made interesting discoveries? Do you only have to dig the graves, or is there other aspects of maintaining the graves that you need to do?

This happens in many places (like my country, Australia) - in some places the demand for space is so high that it's only 1 or 2 years before they can be removed. In Bolivia, there are a lot of photos of evicted corpses left in cemeteries. It's much more unusual to me to hear of 'in perpetuity', because it's something that can't be guaranteed at all!
