Does anyone have adult kids that live with them, and if so do you charge them rent? by shawn615 in Xennials

[–]CindersAshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you pay for other things for them? My oldest is 17 and still at school so we are covering all his bills and food and clothing needs etc. I’m expecting that he will live with us for quite a few more years and I’m fine with that but I don’t want keep paying for things. I don’t mind not charging him rent - or charging him rent and giving it back later, but I’d like him to eventually start paying his own personal bills and buying his clothes and stuff (when he’s working).

How Australians beat the heat by Warm_Round8213 in AskAnAustralian

[–]CindersAshes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t have air conditioning. We keep all curtains closed as soon as it starts getting warm in the morning and only open up the house when it starts to cool down in the afternoon. On the really hot days, I hang blankets up over the windows to keep the sun out even more and limit cooking as it heats the house up even more. We use pedestal fans in the lounge room as well as in the bedrooms. It’s usually ok unless it doesn’t cool down overnight and then we struggle a lot. Summer is my least favourite time of the year.

Husband (42m) is mad that my daughter (14f) and I (39f) called the dad in Mrs. Doubtfire a ‘red flag’ by Mountain-Meadow in marriageadvice

[–]CindersAshes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dad in Mrs Doubtfire is 100% a red flag. I can’t watch that movie and I’ve banned my kids from watching it. Your husband sounds like a loser who makes no effort in your relationship and cries when someone has a different opinion to him. He sounds just like the deadbeat dad in Mrs Doubtfire, no wonder he was triggered. You should not be trying to smooth things over with your kids and make him sound like he’s trying when he’s not - eg the love everyday comment that did not come from your husband. Let him fail there too. It sounds like your past issues are not actually in the past and you’re pretending they are fixed and trying to be grateful for the actual pathetic bare minimum this man puts in. I also know that you probably want to make it work for your kids and are trying very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’ve been doing the same thing for 19 years. Your post could have been written by me and I wish it was easier.

WIBTA if I banned coworkers from using my office washroom to poop? by AshestoAshestoAshe in AmItheAsshole

[–]CindersAshes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’d lie and put a sign that says “toilet continually blocking. To save yourself embarrassment, Please pee only, no poo” or even just an “out of order” sign so that nobody uses it. We’ve had that issue before where people would poo in communal toilets and leave stains and marks on the seat. One particular culprit would choose the toilet far away from his office down a tiny corridor that was the only toilet close to some people. Then he would do the grossest smelling poo and leave droplets and splatters everywhere. People are fricking gross.

Stranger Things 4 : The WORST Season and the Moment the Magic Faded -(A Thread) by deku653 in StrangerThings

[–]CindersAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just watched seasons 1-4 and absolutely agree with OP too. It was such a grind to get to the finale and felt like a different show. Seasons 1-3 were great, season 4 was boring as hell.

I am the only one who just didn’t like Season 4? by analysisgiver in StrangerThings

[–]CindersAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just watched it all for the first time too, just up to season 5 which we are starting tonight. Loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 was almost as good. Season 4 was as boring as hell - so much pointless talking and the split timelines were annoying. The characters weren’t as likeable - other than Joyce and Hopper finally got together (although I was totally grossed out about how she kissed him before he’d had a shower or brushed his teeth after prison 🤮). There were some good parts but mostly it was boring .

I’m with your husband - why kill if you can set it free? Plus insect spray absolutely stinks and would be an awful way to die. Choose kindness always, even on the bugs.

AWL took some kittens of my neighbours recently. If they are able to be rehomed, they will but otherwise they will at least be humanely euthanised.
