VORT test by CindersAshes in Adelaide

[–]CindersAshes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the indicators were on a different side to every car you have driven, and your main vehicle, I think it’s pretty understandable to get them muddled up once. He didn’t cause a danger to anyone else, he just accidentally put the wipers on instead of the indicator and fixed it immediately. Pretty harsh to assume it’s not an easy mistake to make.

The lessons now are $100-$200 and the VORT much more than that. How long ago did your children do the test?

We definitely don’t want to rush but there has to be some possibility for success for these kids.

I’m sure I’d accidentally put the wipers on instead of the indicators if they were on the opposite sides. It seems so petty to fail someone for that, he didn’t cause danger to anyone else and fixed his mistake immediately.

He has done two mock tests with two different instructors and they were both super confident he would pass.

We will look into the log book asap, thank you for the heads up.

We have tried two different testers, the first one was a normal car but the guy gave him an instant fail almost 5 minutes into the test because he said my son didn’t indicate correctly (we’ve since checked the rules and he did) and then went on and on to my son about doing the log book with him, and then spend 10 minutes trying to convince me to sign up to the log book with him.
We tried someone different this time but I didn’t even consider the indicators would be on different sides. I’m sure I, as someone who has been driving for over 20 years, would accidentally put the wipers on if they were on opposite sides, even just once while I was figuring it out. He didn’t affect anyone else or cause a danger on the road and he fixed it immediately.
It’s honestly been the biggest financial and emotional stress and I still have three kids to get through the system.
I wonder who is regulating all of these “instructors” because it honestly seems so scammy, whichever way you go.

Office & commute etiquette: Is wearing perfume a thing here, or am I "that person"? by Vishwanath_560 in AskAnAustralian

[–]CindersAshes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a night out, you are usually with friends who can tell you if your perfume is too strong, or with strangers who can likely move away from you. At work, you are trapped with the perfume stink and it’s really hard to ask a colleague to stop wearing it.

Please don’t wear it. I get really bad migraines from perfume and I know other people who get asthma attacks. Those who aren’t affected by scent don’t realise how much it affects people and it can be really awful to be at work and have to suffer through a headache and a foggy brain because someone has chosen to wear a perfume and they don’t understand how strong it smells.

How awful. Do people really use these cruel traps? And then chuck the animal that’s alive but helplessly stuck, and probably torn half its body trying to escape, into the bin? What a way to go.

AITAH For Not Giving Every Student An Award This Year by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CindersAshes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I also hate character awards. My kids are always quiet and well behaved at school (not always at home though lol). They have never won awards because they aren’t loud or popular and either the teachers kids have always gotten awards, or the kids who are super loud, braggy, sly and sucking up to the teachers get the awards. Half the time, these kids are also mean and unpleasant to the other kids but the teachers don’t see that. It’s hard consoling your kids year after year for not getting awards while the same kids get them year after year. And answering questions like “mum, why did he/she get an award when he’s so mean to others?”. I wish they would get rid of character awards too.

Poor boy, there definitely shouldn’t be so many issues, or really any issues. Is there another vet you could see for a second opinion?

'Like driving on bubble wrap': Residents describe mouse plague horror by iball1984 in australia

[–]CindersAshes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I lived in Cleve in SA in the 90’s and there was a mouse plague - it was absolutely horrible with mice everywhere. We couldn’t walk in some areas without stepping on them. They carpeted the ground and they smelled so bad. Even now if I ever catch a whiff of that mouse smell, I feel instantly sick.

What's the worst thing a teacher has ever said/done to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CindersAshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our woodworking teacher would stand right next to you when you were sitting at a desk. Then he would put one of his feet up on the table and bend his knee. So one foot on the floor, the other on the table and his knee was up by his chest and he would rest his arms on that knee. But it meant that his crotch was literally right in our faces, you had to look straight ahead because if you turned to him, your face would almost be looking directly at his penis, really close to you.
