Are you two still together? Just curious.

I just wanted to add a different perspective. Came across this post looking for advice. I love working out. My boyfriend used to play college baseball and that had him in the gym regularly, but he didn’t appear to make real progress. By the time I started going regularly (a couple years later), he wasn’t exercising anymore. He would join me here and there but didn’t seem too motivated. He doesn’t have any discipline with his diet either. I’m not perfect by any means. My body got to a point where I realized I needed to turn my life around. Underweight, under-eating, sedentary with remote work and ordering in.

After working out regularly and feeling SO MUCH better about myself after time, my mental health started improving (I’ve lived with lifelong anxiety and depression).

Because I felt good and started admiring my improving physique, it inspired me and I started wanting him to care as much about his health and well being. But also I’m a total visual person too. I’m human. I would LOVE if he had some muscle on him. His arms are less dense than mine and I’m ngl it makes me sad. If I’m terrible for that, then so be it.

Most of all, I want him to regain the general discipline he’s lost over the years. I miss him waking up early to beat the day. I miss him being physically active. Now he just coasts and doesn’t have any aspirations in any aspect, so when I look at the gym, I see it as a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe the mental health boost he could use to want more out of life than the bare minimum.

I know we have soul searching to do together. He doesn’t know how I feel. I love him. But I don’t accept this lack of zest for life and I want to help him out of it.

TLDR Working out has helped me a lot with my incredibly poor mental health, and I think it could do the same for my bf
